The Pentagon has admitted in an internal report that it wrongly accused an army engineer from Michigan of spying for Israel because he was a Jew. David Tenenbaum of Southfield is an Orthodox Jew and fluent in Hebrew.

I'm sorry to say I'm NOT suprised. There is some historical background behind this as well.

In the late 40s ~ early 50s it was found out that a number of jews that had been hired by the Federal Government for some highly sensitive positions in State, War (Defense Department) and a number of other agencies turned out to be Communists (examples: Oppenheimer, Greenglass, Ethel Rosenberg's brother whose name I cannot recall, Alger Hiss) that actually betrayed their country. Add to that the fact of the background of Marx, etc. and add on to THAT the fact that a number of the big wheels in the Zionist movement where, if not Communists where at a minimum raving screaming Bolshevics. Yes, I know that nearly all these traitors where not practicing jews, but that fact got lost in the hysteria.

The reaction of the country was quite strong - there was an anti-jewish backlash. I'll be the first one to condemn the reaction (you can't blame an entire ethnic group for the sins of some of its members) but that it happened is a fact that cannot be denied.

Government has a tendency to act like a flywheel - once it is set on a course it has a tendency to follow that course absent a massive effort to change that course. Add to this the tendency of the Eastern establishment to be anti-semetic (including a few of our Presidents, sorry to say), the suspecion of jews of having "divided loyality" because of Israel and you have a witch's brew that a lot of the GS-16s and above drank. Situations like Jonathan Pollard didn't help any.

OK, let's stop right here and let me make a strong statement: I IN NO WAY agree with this attitude of the Federal Government - I'm just relating my observations of the landscape as I see it.

Now why not a similar attitude towards Muslims and Islam based on CURRENT facts and situations? Political Correctness. The President has told us "Islam is a peaceful religion" so we're not allowed to question Islam or it's practioners.

Is the government being totally stupid on both issues? Hell yes. Are they likely to change any time soon? Probably not, not unless we nuke Washington and replace the folks that carry on this bias (like the present Director of the FBI and the HQ staff). BTW, the SAIC of the FBI in Detroit might as well have a crescent tatooed on his forehead (and a few other body parts as well). Debbie Schlussel has documented that situation in great detail.

It is my observation that we have a front-row seat to our government and country committing suicide - as Lincoln and many other have said if this country is going to die it will die from within not from without. 9/11 is becoming a fading memory for a lot of people: I was hoping that it would have the effect that 12/7/1941 had on my parents and grandparents' generations, but it didn't for a lot of reasons (and a lot of the blame for that was mishandling of the aftermath by George Bush, but that is a whole other story).

What can we do? Well we can be careful who we vote for - ask them pointed questions about where they stand. Contact our CongressCritters - inform them if they don't know what is going on and ask them to help change it. A Congressional hearing to grill the Directors of these agencies about this issue is the minimum we should demand that Congress do. As Everett Dirkson used to say "When I feel the heat I see the light".

Pamela, your post reminds me of Whittaker Chambers and the Soviet spies and agents who infiltrated our government in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Chambers named some of the communists who were in the government.

Chambers also produced documentary evidence against Alger Hiss. Ann Coulter, in her book "Treason" writes, "In response, the Truman administration decided to indict Chambers and throw a party for the traitor." Fortunately for Chambers, he had even more evidence hidden in a pumpkin and this derailed Department of Justice plans to indict him.

There were plenty of "We like Ike"jews during the 50's and many who were against FDR's appeasement policies.
FDR had a choke hold on Free Speech..and my parents and others protested against FDR's policies..

There were knocks on doors at night and threats if anyone, or any group dared to challenge one of the most anti-semetic Presidents in history.
There are some photos (hard to find) where you can see protesters with signs against appeasement of the Hitler Regime. And even impeach FDR signs..but these are very hard to find..maybe Pamela..if you have any free time...
