The weakest leadership in Israeli history is left to confront (or not) its gravest threat. It is hardly Israel's threat to deal with but the West's. This is the poisonous fruit of our (US, EU, Perm 3) feckless, spineless policy over the past 7 years. Why should Israel be forced to mop up our cowardly mess? Israel is in no position to halt Islamic Iran's nuclear march to war.

The world wants to see the Islamic jihadi threat of Iran destroyed. It's not that they don't believe Iran's threats of "Death to America!", "Death or Israel!", "Death to the West!" over the past 30 years- it's just that they don't have the testicular fortitude to respond. It is not a question of war with Iran, it is a question of war with Iran with nuclear weapons or Iran without them. The world also knows that Israel will respond, once the Islamic knife is at her throat. So the world thinks it's a small price to pay -6 million Jews. They have done it before, handily. I believe the EU political elites and Condi and co. believe Israel will take the nuclear hit and respond with disproportionate force and destroy the jihadi pox on the world. But it won't be that simple (it never is) and Europe, that dickless of all wonders, won't get off the schneid that easily. It is going to be ugly as only war can be and just like Hitler, could have been avoided. Easily. It breaks the heart.
Terrible - all of it. And in this confluence of malevolent nuclear events, the US suffered a crippling foreign policy tragedy this week -- Condi and Bush removed the greatest proliferater of nuclear weapons, North Korea, off of the list of nations that sponsor terrorism. Why?
I have heard Bush is a religious man. He'll have a lot to answer for.

Iran has moved ballistic missiles into launch positions, with Israel’s Dimona nuclear plant among the possible targets, defence sources said last week.
The movement of Shahab-3B missiles, which have an estimated range of more than 1,250 miles, followed a large-scale exercise earlier this month in which the Israeli air force flew en masse over the Mediterranean in an apparent rehearsal for a threatened attack on Iran’s nuclear installations. Israel believes Iran’s nuclear programme is aimed at acquiring nuclear weapons.
The sources said Iran was preparing to retaliate for any onslaught by firing missiles at Dimona, where Israel’s own nuclear weapons are believed to be made.
Major-General Mohammad Jafari, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, told a Tehran daily: “This country [Israel] is completely within the range of the Islamic Republic’s missiles. Our missile power and capability are such that the Zionist regime – despite all its abilities – cannot confront it.”
An editorial in a government newspaper, Jomhouri Eslami, said: “Our response will hit right at their temple.”

Iran has divided the country up into 31 military sectors as part of its stepped up preparations for war, DEBKAfile's Iranian sources report. Sunday, June 29, Brig. Gen. Mir-Faisal Baqerzadeh, head of the Iranian Army's Foundation for the Remembrance of the Holy Defense and MIAs, said the 320,000 graves were to be dug for enemy forces in case of an attack on Iranian territory.
"We don't wish the families of enemy soldiers to experience what Americans had to go through in the aftermath of the Vietnam War," said Baqerzadeh.
Our sources report that it was obvious to the average Iranian that the graves, concentrated in the border regions, were intended for prospective domestic victims of US and Israeli bombardments.
Little do they know, they are preparing it for their dead.
