(IsraelNN.com) John Bolton, former American Ambassador to the United Nations, told a London newspaper Tuesday that Israel will attack Iran if Senator Barack Obama is elected President. He predicted the attack would take place between the day after the elections, in early November, and January 20, when the next president succeeds George W. Bush.

"The argument for military action is sooner rather than later," he told the Telegraph. Bolton asserted that the Arab world would be "pleased" if Israel attacks Iran's nuclear site although he added there would be "public denunciations.

And everyone knows how oil humgry American loves to please her Arab masters :)

He said he has given up on the Bush administration's efforts to stop Iran from developing an atomic bomb. "I don't think it's serious any more," he said. "If you had asked me a year ago I would have said I thought it was a real possibility. I just don't think it's in the cards."

Bolton told the newspaper that if Senator Obama is elected in November, Israel cannot afford to wait until he takes office on January 20, before taking action. "An Obama victory would rule out military action by the Israelis because they would fear the consequences given the approach Obama has taken to foreign policy," according to Bolton, who served as ambassador to the U.N. for less than two years until 2006.

"My judgment is they would not want to do anything before our election because there's no telling what impact it could have on the election," he added. "The Israelis have one eye on the calendar because of the pace at which the Iranians are proceeding both to develop their nuclear weapons capability and to do things like increase their defenses by buying new Russian anti-aircraft systems and further harden the nuclear installations."  

He said that Israel might be able to delay a strike if Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain is elected. Bolton said the Republican candidate's position is "much more realistic than the Bush administration's stance."

ambassador bolton fails to consider something quite crucial in his timeline, and that is the fact that in all likelihood israel does not have sufficient military capacity to completely destroy the iranian nuclear research and production facilities. nor does israel have sufficient strategic forces to take out the transportation and power grids which provide support to these facilities.

what this means is that at best, israel can only delay or hinder iran's capabilities with regard to nuclear weapons production and deployment.

they are going to have to go into iran time and again to assure that iran cannot build and deploy nuclear weapons.

to assure that iran cannot build a weapon or weapons, israel has to attack well before the elections, e.g., right now, so that she will at least have the ability to launch needed follow up strikes before mr. obama's election as p.o.t.u.s.

has anybody seen or heard from mr. mccain in a while? he doesn't seem to get on the news very much, or the magazine covers very much, now does he?

p.s. and, in the analysis forced by likelihoods and probabilities, israel is simply going to have to face the prospect of carrying out attacks on israel while faced with condemnation by the united nations, the u.s. govt. and state department (its own little govt., in reality), and the western and arab media (read propoganda organs, what is the phrase i want here, "propagit bureaus," and old phrase from the cold war), when it does so. israel has to recognize, that it has no friends, none, when mr. obama is elected.

There is no choice in defending Israel. Iran's desire to destroy Israel and wipe the Christians off the face of the earth is well publicized. God is very clear about protecting Israel "The Apple of His eye". Zec 2:8 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.
What we can truly rely upon is God's Covenant with Israel, which HE CANNOT AND WILL NOT BREAK! GW will stand with Israel and protect her....whereas I don't believe Obama will which will be our demise.

Iran has vowed to destroy all infidels and set up the Earth for the coming of their Maddhi, Israel is the first to be destroyed, then the Christians. That is in line with Biblical prophecy. I sure don't want to be counted as Israel's enemy (by failing to honor and defend them)! I sure don't want to stand before God to be cursed! Whew! Hell on Earth and then in the hereafter!
