Sent Home? GIVE HIM A PROMOTION!
"In the most humble manner, I look into your eyes today and I say, please forgive me and my soldiers," Gen Hammond said, according to CNN.
UGH.
What is "serious and troubling" is our reaction to such deeds. CNN is, of course, wringing its hands and I am sure Christiane Imamwhore is weeping uncontrollably but here's a soldier who knows what the problem is. Certainly the violent doctrine must be stricken from that book. JUSA provide the money quote from CNN (the crescent news network):
Another military official kissed a Quran and presented is as "a humble gift" to the tribal leaders.
He kissed the fookin book?
US sniper shot at Koran in Iraq BBC (hat tip Atlas readers)
An American sniper has been sent home from Iraq for using a copy of the Koran for target practice at a shooting range near Baghdad, the US military says.
The Muslim holy book was found riddled with bullet holes last week by Iraqi police, who also discovered offensive graffiti inside its cover.
A US military spokesman said the soldier had been removed from his unit, sent home, and would be disciplined.
He was unnamed, but was reportedly a staff sergeant in a sniper section.
US military spokesman Colonel Bill Buckner said the incident was "both serious and deeply troubling", but stressed it was an "isolated incident and a result of one soldier's actions".
The US army's commander in Baghdad, Major-General Jeffery Hammond, made a personal apology to local Sunni Arab leaders in Radwaniya, CNN reported.
On arrival, he was met by hundreds of protesting tribesmen.
"In the most humble manner, I look into your eyes today and I say, please forgive me and my soldiers," Gen Hammond said, according to CNN.
But but but, which pages were destroyed? If it was the "kill the infidel or any Jew", is the punishment the same?

CNN says:
"I come before you here seeking your forgiveness," Hammond said to tribal leaders and others at the apology ceremony. "In the most humble manner I look in your eyes today and I say please forgive me and my soldiers."
Another military official kissed a Quran and presented is as "a humble gift" to the tribal leaders.

What the hell! Who cares! The man could shoot at a Christian bible for all I care! It's just a book! Just paper, for gowdssake!
The thing is that these islamics are just raising a fuss
- to bother and see how far they can go with us. ANd they can certainly go far - bcause we haven't drawn a line in the sand.
- MOre important: These islamics don't have experience of other peoples and esp. resistance. Resistance to everything they stand for. Everything!
So far everything has gone their way - that's why they've taken North Africa to Central Asia. And now working in Central Africa and Europe.
Well, RESISTANCE is now HERE!
The pendulum is starting to swing the other way!

A soldier shot a Koran? What a waste of good toilet paper.

With regards to the shooting of the koran story, I find it interesting that a post above said "they could shoot a Christian bible for all I care...it's just a book!..." Why not the Torah then too? Is that also not "just a book"?

Interesting eh? A soldier used to have to shoot himself in the foot to get sent home now he can just shoot a book. And on top of that he will probably get some press and some props for being a real bad ass. Man is this war great or what?
