Fitna: YouTube Warned By Indonesia To Remove It Or Face Being Blocked Hummers and cigarettes
Cybercast News Service is reporting today that the government of Indonesia, the world's most populous Islamic state, has warned YouTube to remove Geert Wilders' controversial movie "Fitna" or face being blocked. The movie, a sixteen-minute film that heavily criticizes Islam's holy text, the Koran, has sparked protests and threats in a number of countries and has drawn criticism from the European Union, The Arab League, and The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Mohammad Nuh, Information Minister of the former Dutch colony, issued a statement in Jakarta yesterday (Tuesday) stating that if YouTube did not comply with the request, the government in cooperation with Internet service providers would block the site.

What do you expect from countries that require one to set their wrist watch back 700 years to conform to local time when you visit.

I am trying to understand, as I finish watching this short film, why every newspaper in the free world, starting here in the US, does not have it permanently linked to their homepage, why people who wish to educate themselves, to exercise their right to evaluate free speech for themselves, can only find it here, on a private citizen's blog.
The history of the past century is instructive here, although given what seems to be happening in the world, free people still seem not to have learned from it.
The last time the world faced a threat as great as that of global Islamization was during the tenure of Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito.
Following the killing of ~ 2500 US servicemen (ie, 'combatants'), this country spared no effort, no expense, to fight this scourge full on, with the clear understanding that nothing less than our existence was at stake.
We enlisted the talents of people like Frank Capra, to make this clear to all Americans and servicemen, in a series of films: 'Why We Fight'.
(A link from a resource page of the series 'The War' is posted here: you can fing the films in this list:
http://www.pbs.org/thewar/search_results.php?media_id=10&search_type=media&keyword=Archival+Film+%26+Audio)
Instead, this Dutch film, on the same parent NPR.org website, is referred to in the following way:
'Offensive Video Raises Questions About Censorship' or 'Dutch Politician Creates Anti-Islam Video' or 'Dutch Film Criticizing Islam, Quran Angers Muslims'.
I wonder what sort of journalistic credentials the editors at NPR have to take this kind of literary license.
In the Dutch film, there is no commentary, no narration, nothing but the written sacred text of the Koran, nothing but the recent recorded words of honored Muslim Imams, scholars, and statesmen, all over the world.
These peaceful, cooperative proclamations are interspersed in the video with a fraction of the actual terrorist results of those who acted on these writings, and followed the exhortations of their religious leaders: you can see the results, everyone here in NYC has experienced the results first-hand: ~ 3000 innocent noncombatants were slaugtered for the crime of making a living.
And the media bullshit continues: if you report what you can see and hear, you are somehow 'anti-Islamic'. If you are alarmed that your fellow citizens are being killed, that your country, your treasured freedoms are being pissed-on by these demagogues exhorting their calls of destruction in mosques, you are an Islamophobe.
When you view this film, you get the very real sense that time is rapidly running out for the west, in some places more so than others, but nevertheless moving in a direction that is more fascist than free.
And other than a few brave, independent thinkers, like this filmaker, and the indefatigable host of this private blog, too few people seem to give a shit about what is happening RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES.
