UPDATE 11:48: POWER HAS RESIGNED! (Clinton demanded her resignation, acting like she's the top of the ticket already.) I heard this on Fox News (twice), and am looking for link confirmation. [here it is]
Stay tuned!
UPDATE 12:09: Here's her statement, just sent out by the campaign:
“With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today. Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."
Apparently Jew-hatred and jihad appeasement, OK -- insulting Hillary, not!
UPDATE: Re: No Great Shakes Either
Samantha Power has resigned, but not before she was caught telling the BBC “never mind” about Obama’s promise to pull out of Iraq in 16 months. It appears to be a full time job for Barack Obama’s advisers, like Power and Austan Goolsbee, to tell people around the world that their candidate does not mean what he says.
On one hand, this could be good news: Obama might not really favor ripping up NAFTA and may not really mean to yank American troops out of Iraq immediately and without regard to the conditions on the ground. However, I suspect the Obama team will quickly come rushing forward to say, “No! No! We really do believe in economic and military retreat as an article of American foreign policy.” John McCain must be rubbing that lucky penny he keeps in his pocket. Political gifts like this don’t come along every day.
Ed Lasky continues to expose the terrible realities of an Obama presidency. If we manage to save the free world from an Obama presidency, I am nominating him for a "peace" prize. Gd bless you, Lasky!
He writes, "Samantha Power, Barack Obama's top foreign policy advisor, has now compiled quite record of statements that raise the question of Senator Obama's judgment in choosing her to be his foreign policy major domo. We have commented before on a long series of anti-Israel comments, her (and apparently Senator Obama's) plans to accept and promote ethnic cleansing when they retreat from Iraq, her characterization of Hillary Clinton as a 'monster', and now the latest one: a comment that insults the Prime Minister of our closest ally."
Go over to The American Thinker. You must read it all. AT is calling it "More Obama amateur hour diplomacy," but I beg to differ. You can be an amateur but still know the difference between good and evil, right and wrong, civilized men and savages.
Power is cozying with Malloch Brown??????????? Atlas readers know this Soros tool well.
In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph she comments upon her ties with various British officials. From the Telegraph:
Neither she nor Obama have met Gordon Brown or David Cameron. Their main point of contact is Mark Malloch Brown, the Prime Minister's eminence grise in the Foreign Office. "David Miliband seems impressive to me. I am confused by what's happened to Gordon Brown. I thought he was impressive."
Samantha Power states she is "confused by what's happened to Gordon Brown" which is a statement that in itself is confusing but may indicate disappointment in his performance as a Prime Minister. This does seem to be the import of her statement because her next sentence follows about Gordon Brown, "I thought he was impressive".
How diplomatic! Just as she years ago insulted Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon by equating him with terrorist Yasser Arafat , now she feels free to insult the Prime Minister of American's closest ally in the world.
What was that we keep hearing about Barack Obama's judgment?
