Obama is dishonest on Pastor Wright
UPDATED!
Yet since his early twenties he's sat week after week, listening to the ravings of just another cookie-cutter race-huckster. (Mark Steyn here)
He is lying. Read this from August 2007:
Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."
In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22. More here (hat tip rut)
What Obama has said about Wright before his teachings came to light (hat tip rut via Chicago Sun Times)
From a memoir written by Obama before he knew his reverend would become an issue in his campaign for President:
The title of Reverend Wright’s sermon that morning was “The Audacity of Hope.” He began with a passage from the Book of Samuel—the story of Hannah, who, barren and taunted by her rivals, had wept and shaken in prayer before her God. The story reminded him, he said, of a sermon a fellow pastor had preached at a conference some years before, in which the pastor described going to a museum and being confronted by a painting title Hope.
“The painting depicts a harpist,” Reverend Wright explained, “a woman who at first glance appears to be sitting atop a great mountain. Until you take a closer look and see that the woman is bruised and bloodied, dressed in tattered rags, the harp reduced to a single frayed string. Your eye is then drawn down to the scene below, down to the valley below, where everywhere are the ravages of famine, the drumbeat of war, a world groaning under strife and deprivation.
“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That’s the world! On which hope sits!”
And so it went, a meditation on a fallen world. While the boys next to me doodled on their church bulletin, Reverend Wright spoke of Sharpsville and Hiroshima, the callousness of policy makers in the White House and in the State House. As the sermon unfolded, though, the stories of strife became more prosaic, the pain more immediate. The reverend spoke of the hardship that the congregation would face tomorrow, the pain of those far from the mountaintop, worrying about paying the light bill…
Obama is now trying to tell us that the hateful rhetoric his reverend is deploying now isn’t what he heard during his two decades in that reverend’s congregation. Yet it’s clear from this memoir that the Reverend Wright was saying the same things then as he’s saying now.
Obama’s only trying to distance himself from Wright now because Wright has become politically inconvenient. Not because Obama actually dislikes anything Wright has to say.
It's hard to believe Obama's claim that he never heard any of Wright's inciteful hate speech, a man so influential in Obama's life, so much a spiritual sdviser to him and a church so close to Obama's heart. He's been a member of the church since 1991. He admits he was a frequent $$$ contributor, he was married by Wright and his daughter's were baptized by him.
The claim that he had not heard these statements until now is patently dishonest. When asked if he would have if left the church if he had heard them, he referred to Wright as "biblical scholar" .......... and evaded the question. When Major Garrett pressed him on it, asking directly again would you leave? He said he might have.
Are we to believe that a man so tied to the church would not have gone to Church the Sunday after 9/11 when those vile remarks were made? Somebody who was there knows.
Garrett pointed out that Obama put Wright on his religious committee after he was made aware of the comments.
Yid with lid has the video and writes;
Ladies and Gentleman Barak Obama is campaigning as a "New Politician." the words said on Hannity last night are problematic if he wants to maintain that image. As a regular church goer, he is most probably lying about never hearing one of Wright's offensive sermons. The horrible sermon about 9/11 being America's fault was given the first Sunday after 9/11, a man of faith like Obama (and I believe him when he says that) would have been in Church that Sunday. Obama saying that he never heard one of Wright's sermons is the equivalent of Bill Clinton's "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"
More than being a liar --Barak Obama has come back to earth--he is just like everyone else.Obama is a False Messiah just like Shabbatai Tzvi the 17th century Jew who claimed that he was the Messiah until he recanted and converted to Islam to avoid a death sentence from the Sultan. The Senator has denied HIS faith and threw his spiritual leader under the bus-- not to prevent his execution, but to continue faking the public--and that is even more disgusting
Astute Blogger has more proof of the lie here.

More from Ed Lasky on Obama's "reliability":
Obama and obligations
The following is a statement startling in its implications, and gives us insight into Barack Obama's reliability. In 2004, according to the Boston Globe, he stated:
...that the United States had an "absolute obligation " to remain in Iraq long enough to make it a success. He stated that failure of the Iraqi state would be a disaster and would be a betrayal of the promise that we made to the Iraqi people, and it would be hugely destabilizing from a national security perspective.
That was a commitment to the Iraqi people -- an "absolute" promise that we would hold paramount our obligation to provide them security, to protect them from the ravages that would flow from a failed state. Yet a mere three years later, we have this report from the Associated Press:
"Presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot use its military to solve humanitarian problems and that preventing a potential genocide in Iraq isn't a good enough reason to keep U.S. forces there." . (More at MSNBC)
This willingness of Senator Obama to turn his back on something he proclaimed an "absolute obligation" should be particular concern to the millions of supporters of Israel in America. When campaigning, Senator Obama has made similar promises regarding the safety and security of Israel? How long will those promises last? Until January, 2009? (More here)

Barack Obama knew his pastor Jeremiah Wright was a liability LAST YEAR.
(So did the media who refused to look into the story)
But, he denied this last night when he made the cable rounds...
Even though it is documented that Barack has attended these hatefilled sermons, via American Power.

UPDATE: Obama covering for Wright:
Barack Obama is trying to distance himself from Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who has delivered anti-Semitic and anti-American sermons in Obama's church.
Here is some evidence to the contrary, from an extensive article in Rolling Stone:
The senator “affirmed” his Christian faith in this church; he uses Wright as a “sounding board” to “make sure I’m not losing myself in the hype and hoopla.” Both the title of Obama’s second book, The Audacity of Hope, and the theme for his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 come from Wright’s sermons. “If you want to understand where Barack gets his feeling and rhetoric from,” says the Rev. Jim Wallis, a leader of the religious left, “just look at Jeremiah Wright.”
Here is more:
Mr. Wright is one of the first people Mr. Obama thanked after his election to the Senate in 2004. Mr. Obama consulted Mr. Wright before deciding to run for president. He prayed privately with Mr. Wright before announcing his candidacy last year.

Only idiot liberals would by that BS from hussein obama

Yeah....whatevah...the comments from the date given are NOT racist. An earlier comment from today here calling Obama a possible "Mohammedan plant"? That was racist. He did NOT lie about that date. He was there and those quotes are not racist.

This will be Obama's achilles heel. If Clinton doesn't slam him for his passive endorsement of Wright in the Dem primaries, McCain will in the general election. If McCain doesn't run a long series of ads with video/audio of Wright and a picture of Obama standing next to him, then he doesn't deserve to win the election.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. John 1:5-6

Granted the fact that Obama has more problems on his plate from his hate-mongering racist preacher, but I think you are spending an inherently large amount of time over Obama-mania.
Who is paying you for making so many posts on Obama? Haven't you figured it out yet that no matter who gets into the white house, sans Ron Paul, that our country is going to be just as fucked up as always?

You mean people can actually get paid for busting the stealth muslim/blackpanther/blackkkk/jewhater/antiamerican/racist OBAMA ORAMA? If that is so...they don't get paid enough.(Wright/And the parents who BRUNG them to the church, could/should be arrested for child endangerment for what he is preaching to those children.Because in the real world, that kind of thinking and wrong headed talk that sets the black population back a hundred years, could get someone in some deep s***t because no one is going to put up with it. Wright preaches about prisons and blacks being in prisons instead of college..How long does it take MR.WRIGHT to get over something? A hundred years? Mr.Wright enjoys the friut of america while hating her.And all of those attending his church feel the same way. Why don't they pack up their porsche and move to Libya..or Sauda Arabia Just get the ell out of America.

RISE--I don't like much of what Wright has said, but the example given in this post referred to Apartheid in S. Africa. That was in my lifetime even. If you want an example of "slavery humor", see link above called "Ignored for a Year". Yeah. Maybe that sort of schlock is why black people sometimes are a bit leery of white folks. Master/Pastor...honestly Pamela, that is BAD. I'd suggest an edit, but, well, I no longer care.
