Disgusting Cowards
How is the presence of the great men and women of the US armed forces offensive or political? These heros fight for our every right - particularly those that whine, moan, desecrate war memorials, protest, and harass. Shame on every school official that cowered and pandered to leftards. How dare you. SCHOOL TAX BOYCOTT!
Shame shame shame on all of you.
Forest Lake event canceled: Star Tribune hat tip Jon
too political Forest Lake High's principal said the decision was spurred by concerns that the presentation was more political than educational.
A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan won't be stopping at Forest Lake Area High School today as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit.
Steve Massey, the school principal, said the decision to cancel was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.
Steve, your photo should be prominently displayed in the dictionary under big giant pussy.
He said the school had received several phone calls from parents and others, some of whom indicated that they may stage a protest if the event took place.
Oh man, I can just imagine who those folks are.
"The event was structured to be an academic classroom discussion around military service. We thought we'd provide an opportunity for kids to learn about service in the context of our history classes," Massey said. "As the day progressed, it became clear that this was becoming a political event ... which would be inappropriate in a public setting.
"We decided to cancel," Massey said.
PUSSY! What kind of an example is he setting as head of school? Fire his sorry, pathetic ass.
Organizers of the National Heroes Tour then scrambled to relocate the event to the American Legion building in Forest Lake. The visit, which U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, had been scheduled to attend, is sponsored by Vets for Freedom, a national organization run by Pete Hegseth, a 1999 graduate of Forest Lake Area High School who served with the 101st Airborne in Iraq in 2005-06.
Ugh.
UPDATE: A handful of discontents could not ruin it for all. The students went to the vets! (hat tip Josef)
Forest Lake school closes doors to vets, so students go to hear them Star Tribune
While school officials at Forest Lake Area High School fielded many phone calls Tuesday from people upset with their decision to cancel a visit by touring veterans, more than 100 people greeted the vets at the local American Legion center.
Derek Dovolos, 18, a senior who plans to join the Army National Guard after graduating, said: "I knew they were coming to our school, and when I heard that they weren't coming that made me angry. ... I'm here to support our troops and that's all that matters."
Ge Derek!

If only we could boycott school taxes...
This though gets ugly - first the official whine on the homepage:
Being somebody who's gone up against a school board before - you can e-mail the Board from the addresses posted HERE. Best advice: Give them the truth, but be civil.
Great work, Pamela. You a true American muckraker supporting our troops!
