Disgusting Cowards

How is the presence of the great men and women of the US armed forces offensive or political? These heros fight for our every right - particularly those that whine, moan, desecrate war memorials, protest, and harass.  Shame on every school official that cowered and pandered to leftards.  How dare you. SCHOOL TAX BOYCOTT!

Shame shame shame on all of you.

Forest Lake event canceled: Star Tribune hat tip Jon
too political Forest Lake High's principal said the decision was spurred by concerns that the presentation was more political than educational.

A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan won't be stopping at Forest Lake Area High School today as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit.

Steve Massey, the school principal, said the decision to cancel was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.

Steve, your photo should be prominently displayed in the dictionary under big giant pussy.

He said the school had received several phone calls from parents and others, some of whom indicated that they may stage a protest if the event took place.

Oh man, I can just imagine who those folks are.

"The event was structured to be an academic classroom discussion around military service. We thought we'd provide an opportunity for kids to learn about service in the context of our history classes," Massey said. "As the day progressed, it became clear that this was becoming a political event ... which would be inappropriate in a public setting.

"We decided to cancel," Massey said.

PUSSY! What kind of an example is he setting as head of school?  Fire his sorry, pathetic ass.

Organizers of the National Heroes Tour then scrambled to relocate the event to the American Legion building in Forest Lake. The visit, which U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, had been scheduled to attend, is sponsored by Vets for Freedom, a national organization run by Pete Hegseth, a 1999 graduate of Forest Lake Area High School who served with the 101st Airborne in Iraq in 2005-06.

Ugh.

UPDATE: A handful of discontents could not ruin it for all. The students went to the vets! (hat tip Josef)

Forest Lake school closes doors to vets, so students go to hear them Star Tribune

While school officials at Forest Lake Area High School fielded many phone calls Tuesday from people upset with their decision to cancel a visit by touring veterans, more than 100 people greeted the vets at the local American Legion center.

Derek Dovolos, 18, a senior who plans to join the Army National Guard after graduating, said: "I knew they were coming to our school, and when I heard that they weren't coming that made me angry. ... I'm here to support our troops and that's all that matters."

Ge Derek!

If only we could boycott school taxes...

This though gets ugly - first the official whine on the homepage:

The decision to cancel today's Veterans for Freedom event at Forest Lake Area High School was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.

The event was structured to be an academic classroom discussion around military service. We thought we'd provide an opportunity for kids to learn about service in the context of our history classes. As the day progressed, it became clear that this was becoming a political event which would be inappropriate in a public school setting.

We have a long history as a public school of recognizing and celebrating what veterans have done for our country, and we are proud to provide that perspective and experience for our students. We originally created a context for the veterans’ tour to make a stop here because it would have added to that tradition. We had a wonderfully structured, educational event planned that would have offered an opportunity to present current military heros as role models for our students. Unfortunately, with potential that the event would become a political demonstration about the war, we felt it wasn’t appropriate in our public school.

Being somebody who's gone up against a school board before - you can e-mail the Board from the addresses posted HERE. Best advice: Give them the truth, but be civil.

Great work, Pamela. You a true American muckraker supporting our troops!

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
