NY Gov. Spitzer, 5.5k Whore Master BREAKING UPDATE: SPITZER TO RESIGN?!
UPDATE:Spitzer Unsafe Sex w/Pro
UPDATE: NEGOTIATING RESIGNATION?
Always cloaking themselves as agents of change, Mr. Clean, blah blah blah, Spitzer more than anyone played holier than thou. He decimated sectors of Wall Street. Ruined lives with innuendo and false allegations. Apparently, his royal cleanliness is client #9 caught with his pants down.
Couldn't he get a girl, or does he prefer them really dirty and slutty? Oh yeah, married, three daughters. I feel for the girls, the wife knows what he is.
The man on the platform of "cleaning up" the city. Ouch.
$5,500 for a prostie? Man, he must have been really desperate or flush with taxpayer dollars. YOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS AT WORK!
The emperor has no clothes. heh. (photo: FR)
Eliot Spitzer apparently involved with a prostitution ring
The New York Times reports that New York Governor and Eliot Spitzer, will give a press conference this afternoon to announce his involvement with a prostitution ring. This is something I would expect to see on the cover of a tabloid, not the Times.
Spitzer informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring. Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.
This is not his first dirty ugly scandal. And still NY only votes blue.
FIRE SPITZER (prior scandal)
It's a GREAT Day! SPITZER has EGG ALL OVER HIS FACE! different scandal, same face
UPDATE: NY SUN:
Report: Spitzer Eyed in Prostitution
Probe Governor Set To Make Statement This Afternoon
Governor Spitzer acknowledged today to his senior staff that he is involved a high-end prostitution ring, The New York Times reported.
Mr. Spitzer is set to make a statement about his involvement this afternoon.
RELATED: Prostitution Case Features Prosecutors of Corruption
Mr. Spitzer, who abruptly this morning canceled his scheduled meetings today in Albany, alerted his staff today that he was connected to an investigation of a prostitution service that charged up to $5,500 an hour.
What do you get for that? Just askin....
The New York Sun reported today that prosecutors specializing in government corruption cases are leading the investigation into the prostitution service, suggesting that the U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan may have evidence that a public official hired a prostitute.
Federal prosecutors last week unsealed a criminal complaint charging four people with running Emperors Club VIP, which advertised itself as an escort service. Prosecutors say the Emperors Club employed more than 50 high-end prostitutes.
Mr. Spitzer, who ran on a platform of cleaning up Albany corruption, was elected governor in 2006 by a landslide.
His cell phone records tied him to the Emperors Club prostitution ring. The ring launders money and launders Spitzer too I guess. Ouch. UPDATE: Fox News is reporting that SPITZER WILL RESIGN. WOOT! He is/was despicable. The must be doing the cha cha down on Wall on Broad. Spitzer was indicted by the Southern district on February the 7th. Wow. UPDATE: I HEARD THE CORNER OF WALL AND BROAD BROKE OUT IN CHEERING WHEN WORD BROKE. I bet Andrew Kennedy Cuomo is fookin yodeling. UPDATE: Spitzer will be replaced by a blind liberal, isn't that redundant? David Paterson is his name. His record? Liberal with a capital L. Latest word is Spitzer will resign at 7pm and Peterson will be sworn in but knowing these slippery Dems, that could change. UPDATE: The CROPPER weighs in! UPDATE: The whore house boasted "pageant winners", "models" and "exquisite students" (hmmmm, how young?) Dirty details emerge from the conversations of the Kristen, Eliot's femme noir. She said he wantedo an "unsafe" sex act (with a prostitute). And the wife stood by his side. That was the most nauseating moment of the day. Why the resignation delay? It seems the caped crusader is trying to negotiate better terms. Wants guarantees he won't go to jail. Lovely. Read it.

UPDATE: He he had a credit on the books when he was booking pay-for booty. A $400 credit. Tried to use it to secure the date. Whoremaster.
Who knows better than he (as a former prosecutor) what goes on with big ticket prostitution rings and their ties to organized crime, drugs etc. He knows more than we do.
UPDATE: Great Spitz pics here: (hat tip Reynolds)

From Jason, it's an update of a blockbuster movie:

UPDATE: It was the big financial transactions that were the tip off. Brian Ross, over at ABC reports here, "that he federal investigation of a New York prostitution ring was triggered by Gov. Eliot Spitzer's suspicious money transfers, initially leading agents to believe Spitzer was hiding bribes, according to federal officials."
It was only months later that the IRS and the FBI determined that Spitzer wasn't hiding bribes but payments to a company called QAT, what prosecutors say is a prostitution operation operating under the name of the Emperors Club.
The suspicious financial activity was initially reported by a bank to the IRS which, under direction from the Justice Department, brought kin the FBI's Public Corruption Squad.
"We had no interest at all in the prostitution ring until the thing with Spitzer led us to learn about it," said one Justice Department official.
Spitzer, who made his name by bringing high-profile cases against many of New York's financial giants, is likely to be prosecuted under a relatively obscure statute called "structuring," according to a Justice Department official.
Structuring involves creating a series of financial movements designed to obscure the true purpose of the payments.
Prosecutors reportedly have a series of e-mails and wiretapped phone conversations of Spitzer. In a interview two years ago, Spitzer, then-attorney general, told ABC News he had some advice for people who break the law. "Never talk when you can nod, and never nod when you can wink, and never write an e-mail because it's death. You're giving prosecutors all the evidence we need," he said.
UPDATE: Reliapundit has Spitzer's two America's here

Okay, why don't you run for Governor?
And if John McCain makes you his better half on the GOP ticket, why not Giuliani?
That said, no big deal here.

"Being involved with a prostitution ring" sounds like he OWNED part of it. "Buying a hooker for $5,500" is the story. By the way, Pamela, it's YOUR tax dollars at work, not mine, I live in Georgia. LOL Wonder if Spitzer's wife will up her charge? Probably. A nice new house, college for the kids, a Mercedes, 3/4 of his bank account....oh, wait.
He's a Democrat. This will be forgotten by the MSM in a week. Nothing to see here folks, move along....

Some updates:
*The NY Governor's site refuses to load
*NY Times/Crimes reports: "The governor’s aides appeared shaken, and one of them began to weep as they waited for him to make his statement at his Manhattan office. Mr. Spitzer was seen leaving his Fifth Avenue apartment just before 3 p.m. with his wife of 21 years, Silda, heading to the news conference." (JK note: Seems to confirm he's going to resign)

Well, finally the New York Governor's site uploaded. Get a load of this at the bottom of the page:
Eliot Spitzer was inaugurated as New York’s 54th Governor on January 1, 2007. In his inaugural address, Governor Spitzer said: "Every policy, every action and every decision we make in this administration will further two overarching objectives: We must transform our government so that it is as ethical and wise as all of New York, and we must rebuild our economy so that it is ready to compete on the global stage in the next century".
Hmmm.... resign already. Governor Geller sounds good. Governor Giuliani also sounds okay.

"[I]nvolved in a prostitution ring...." Was he a client? Was he a pimp?? Did he take bribes not to prosecute??
What a marooon.
He's got three daughters... would he have liked it if one of HIS daughters was hookin'?? How about his wife?? Silda's gorgeous.
Spitzer has had "grandstander" written all over him for years....
I hope he quits....

I can't imagine sex being so good that $5,500 an hour would be worth it.

Yeah, saw pics of his wife & daughters. What a sicko to humiliate them like this in public for eternity. Bad enough he runs for public office and puts them under the stresses & abuse of that - even that glamorous conservative and author of Rome Wasn't Burnt In A Day Joe Scarborough took leave from Congress for the sake of his family.
Frankly, as much as I'm a McCain guy and my dad's been loyal to my mom, I'd offer Chelsea Clinton roses and a hug as one politician's child to another for all the s--t she's taken.

From Michelle Malkin: "WCBS reports Albany buzz about possible resignation at 7pm and swearing-in of Lt. Gov. David Paterson".
Hope will prevail.

Well, at least, it looks like a disabled African American will be Governor, a man with a lot of character, until the end of 2010. The question is when will the handover happen? Looks like Spitzer is trying to cut a deal while using his title - ugh.
I was hoping tonight would be the night. It would be best for everyone if this was dealt with most quickly, arguably.

If you known what I mean.

Well, even the NY Times Editorial Board gets that...
"It is likely that every aspect of Mr. Spitzer’s other life as Client 9 for the Emperor’s Club V.I.P. — as he has been identified by law enforcement officials — every text message and other secretive communication will be made public. Any politician would have a full-time job just dealing with such revelations. There have been elected officials, over the years, who have survived scandals of this sort. But for Mr. Spitzer, who runs a large and complex state, the burden is especially heavy to show that he has not lost the credibility to push for change, a sound budget and good government, as he promised so confidently a year ago."
Of course, they say he can make "a strong argument for why he should be trusted again" but time is running short - NYTimes Ed Board, not me. Frankly to me, it ran out when he chose an overpriced hooker over at the least his three daughters (hey, the wife may have ok'd this - unlikely, but) the night before Valentine's Day.

One last comment - Albany Times-Union has a good editorial rightfully calling yesterday as "a cowardly performance" and "It was the last thing the people of New York needed to see and hear. If the governor has violated the public trust, as it appears he may have, he must resign."
