“This congressional visit will give us the opportunity to discuss important issues of mutual concern between our two countries, the peace process and regional security, including Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Lebanon. Since its first day as a nation, Israel has lived under a threat of aggression from militant extremists and hostile neighboring governments. No country understands the threat of terror and the vigilance necessary to confront it better than Israel, and that danger remains today.
“The rise of Islamic fundamentalism around the world has real security implications, not only for Israel, but also for the United States. The United States and Israel have always enjoyed a strong relationship built on shared values of democracy, freedom, and peace. Just as our commitment to these values remains steadfast, so will our support for Israel. I look forward to our visit.”
Joining John Boehner, leader of the Republican, House of Representatives on the delegation visit are Rep. John Carter (R-TX), Republican Conference Secretary, Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), Ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL), and Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL).
UPDATE Van opines, "While the advance teams for Obama and Hillary met with the terrorist government in Syria a few weeks ago, the Republican team leader McCain and now a Republican congressional delegation of Boehner, Hoekstra, et.al. met with our FRIENDS & ALLIES in Israel. Really points up the difference between the 2 parties. Wonder if/when the press will notice this inconvenient truth? Will the other half of the country notice?"
