EXPLOSION HITS LUXURY HOTEL IN AFGHANISTAN Town Hall
An explosion that reverberated throughout Kabul went off at the city's centrally located luxury hotel that is frequented by foreigners, police said Monday.
It was not clear if the explosion went off inside the hotel or in its large courtyard where the parking lot is located. Police kept journalists and onlookers a far distance from the building.
Mohammad Arif, a police officer, said the explosion had gone off inside the Serena Hotel.
A hotel frequented by foreigners, of course. Many international workers are based at the Serena.

guest told the BBC that there was a huge explosion followed by gunfire. Guests were rushed to the cellar for their own safety.
Reports say at least one person was killed. The Taleban say one of their men managed to detonate a bomb.
Last month, the Taleban carried out at least two suicide attacks in the city.
'Escaped'
Taleban spokesman Zadihullah Mujahid told the BBC that the four Taleban fighters were suicide attackers, armed with Kalashnikovs, grenades and explosives jackets.
