Where is Oprah? Where is US rule of law? These savages should receive the death penalty for this. That should be the law. Don't import your mental and moral illness into our country.

And the thing is, this is the end - the final act, the culmination of the subjugation, oppression, violent abuse of women in Islam. The terror that precedes the murder is almost unimaginable. Pam - This is one of your best posts. It is such an important topic. What many need to realize (and that includes you John Ryan) is that sites such as Atlas are attacking the ideology that allows such horrific acts to occur. Belief in the violent and brutal ideology of Islam leads to these abuses and deaths. People aren't making these things up - the proof is out there. So the next time someone thinks Atlas is acting like Nazi propagandists they need to reflect on some things. Jews were not doing the things the Nazis made up about them. The difference is that countless followers of Islam are indeed involved in brutal and violent acts against their women, children, and others.

If you see a man or men assaulting or attempting to use force against a woman, call the police immediately. ESPECIALLY IF THE MAN A/O THE WOMAN APPEAR TO BE FROM THE MIDDLE-EAST, OR, LET'S SAY, FROM SOMEWHERE LIKE INDONESIA. ESPECIALLY IF THE GIRL IS IN HER TEENS OR EARLY TWENTIES AND IS DRESSED IN WESTERN STYLE.

Stay there. Be a good witness. Make noise so they see you seeing them. Write down license plates, take pictures with your freakin' cell phone. If they won't stop and you're armed then you need to do some quick math. Will you have a reasonable man defense if what you're about to do ends up in court? Will you be able to explain the totality of your circumstances at the time to people who were not there at the time to see what you did? Know what your state laws say about what constitutes assault, brandishing a weapon, when citizen's arrest is permissible.

If they leave the scene with the girl, maybe it would be a good idea to follow them from a safe distance and call the cops and get them ASAPing to where you are.

Or, how about this? Go on a mission to protect sweet Muslim girls who just want to grow up as free women, unafraid of being brutally murdered by those who are supposed to love them most and protect them. Yea; you can set up a safe-house in your basement for them, post subtle notices of your service on craigslist or on the bulletin board at the local halal market. That would take some balls, eh?

You want to really make a difference? Get all sorts of photo and document evidence on honor killings and the treatment of Muslim women by Muslim men and have a car wash. When drivers pull in expecting to get schmoozed for a few bucks so a few Baptist kids can go to summer camp and play in the lake, collect donations of food and money to help establish a safe place these terrorized young ladies can run to when their male kin feel froggy about asserting their twisted view of honor.

Every city and town in the US should have brave women and men on a bold mission to shelter and protect these young girls and women ... until the war's over.

I'm curious about this post. It appears all the women listed above are Muslims. Why aren't honor killings committed by Sikhs, Hindus, Christians et al also represented here? More than 5,000 young non-Muslim brides are victims of dowry murders (honor killings) every year in India and elsewhere, but where is the outrage on this site? Why isn't the honor killing committed in the Chicago area on Dec. 29 by a non-Muslim Indian represented here? Muslims are responsible for only a portion of the honor killings worldwide, yet you have a skewed representation here to fit whatever agenda you have. The first thing that popped into my mind was Germaine Greer's admission in her book about Menopause that she used abortion as a method of birth control. I read the book many years ago and can't remember the exact number of abortions that she had - but if I recall correctly it was 5 or 7. In a world when birth control is readily available, why would it be appropriate or necessary for someone to choose abortion over a tiny pill? I seem to recall that Greer admitted she couldn't be bothered with the pill.

Considering your very strong position on this topic I am assuming that you don't have any problem with late partial birth abortions. For those who don't know what is involved in these abortions I will provide some details - the entity is no longer a foetus - it is a fully formed child - labour is induced - the child is born - then a metal probe is inserted through the soft spot of the child's skull into the brain - the brain matter is sucked (vacuumed) out - nothing is given to ensure the child doesn't feel any pain. I guess when one reaches the point of having a skewed take on what life is - and can reduce a human child to a nothing entity - then tolerance of such a barbaric practice isn't difficult.

Pamela, thank you for blogging about this. I am sickened by these images and these unjust deaths, but I suppose that is just a human reaction.

About Oprah. . .while I was in Jordan working on dishonor killings, she featured Jordan's Queen Rania on her program. Fair enough. But her producers, who visited Jordan and almost had to see the impoverished living conditions there for the overwhelming majority of people, let Queen Rania get away with depicting Jordanians as just like us, buying pizza at Domino's, working out at the gym, etc., etc., etc. Very, very few Jordanians can afford to live like that, and some of those who do only do so through corruption and theft of aid money, not honest work.

Most are living hand to mouth on less than $200/month, which is supposed to take care of their large families. Oprah's producers apparently didn't see fit to show that side of life. I was very, very disappointed in Oprah (normally I admire her) for offering Queen Rania's publicity machine the broad forum of her show for this kind of miseducation of the public. Especially when she could've been using it to have a serious discussion about why Queen Rania and her husband, who is an absolute monarch, haven't done anything to overturn the pesky laws on the books that offer such leniency to perpetrators of dishonor killings that the average sentence in Jordan is six months. She could've also asked her about the stifling, outdated personal status laws in the country and a few other things.

Dismounting my high horse now. Just thought it was a huge missed opportunity and, almost as bad, much too much spin about how Jordan is just like America. I've lived in both places, and it simply isn't.
