#1 New Years Resolution: Out of UN NOW

First order of business for the new year? Remove fangs from our neck. Why do we have to continue paying off these thugs, moochers, looters and destroyers?  Let's face it - the UN is not the organization we set out to create after World War II. So be it. It's one thing to make a mistake, fair enough. But not to correct it doubles the wrong and speaks to a much more  egregious failure, moral bankruptcy.  It's no wonder everyone craps all over us. We are a joke. The UN votes itself a raise and we have to fund it?

Remember  that kid in school whohad no friends, so he would try to buy your friendship all the time in every conceivable, ass kissing way? Remember the contempt you held for that chump? He is us.

We need a a grassroots movement and we need it now. Evil is made possible by the sanction you give it. We must WITHDRAW OUR SANCTION (paraphrasing Rand here.) Our actions (or inactions) have consequences.

Time For U.N. To Pack Up, Go Home IBD

United Nations: The U.N. voted 178-1 to hike its spending 10% next year to an all-time high of $4.2 billion. The lone standout in voting against the record rise in spending? The U.S., which again finds itself alone at the U.N.

The U.S. has tried for some time to rein in the runaway United Nations and its various extremist political factions and bureaucracies, but to no avail. Now, the U.S. has become an outcast in the very organization it founded and has funded for 60 years.

Last Saturday, the U.N. announced its “marathon talks” had resulted in a $4.17 billion basic budget — even though the U.S. dissented. By the way, our dissent is meaningless, since we’re still obliged to pay just under a quarter of that budget, or roughly $922 million.

But we in fact pay much more than that each year.

In 2005, the most recent year for which data are available, we spent more than $5 billion on the U.N. and related activities, ranging from food programs to peacekeeping. That’s a rise of 67% during George Bush’s first term alone. So much for stingy Americans.

Too bad we’re not getting our money’s worth. In fact, the U.N. has become such a massive, unwieldy, corrupt organization that, at this point, it seems beyond repair.

To list the U.N.’s multitudinous sins here would require something the size of a phone book. Suffice to say, in recent years the U.N. has been involved in a variety of policy debacles and outright crimes.

These include the oil-for-food scandal, the largest financial scandal ever; charges that U.N. peacekeepers abused and prostituted young girls in Africa and the Balkans; did nothing about the genocide of millions of people in Darfur and Rwanda; turned its back on democratic Taiwan in favor of communist China; allows Iran to expand its illicit nuclear enrichment program; and so on.

Why such a bad record? Part of the problem is the U.N., which was started after World War II with the best of humanitarian intentions, has been hijacked by a variety of left-wing and anti-Semitic agendas, pushed by an aggressive pack of anti-U.S. and anti-democratic nations that tend to vote as a bloc in the U.N.

According to Heritage Foundation fellow Brett Schaefer, these U.N. voting blocs include the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the so-called Non-Aligned Movement, and the Group of 77 developing nations (which has 130 members — not 77.) All these groups are, in fact, anti-American, anti-West and anti-free market.

“So, where the U.N. actually could have a role in advancing economic policies that enhanced freedom, that enhanced opportunity, that enhanced economic development,” former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton recently explained, “the mind-set of the U.N. itself as played out in its conference rooms and corridors is actually exactly to the contrary.”

The U.N., in short, has become a major way for nondemocratic, noncapitalist countries to siphon wealth from the wealthy countries — without doing anything that remotely looks like democratic, pro-market reform in their own countries.

The U.S. goes along mainly because there are many people out there — call them UNICEF-Americans — who actually believe the U.N.’s propaganda about saving “the children.”

I call them leftards and they have done enormous harm not only to this country but to the oppressed peoples of the world. Facts are irrelevant to these miscreants, only slaking their insatiable guilt, no matter how high the cost to the individual, is what's important. Freaks like Rose O'Donut -- she'd eat whole populations to quiet her unquenchable depression.

You could not be more right, sweetie. We linked you.
PS: Since you went all red (Michele style) New Years Eve, where is the picture proof? ;-)

As you may recall, one of the top items on my New Conservative Platform was: US out of UN, UN out of US.

I invite you to remember what took place in late August and early September, 2001. This was the UN-sponsored destroy-Israel-hate-fest-frenzy at Durban, which we helped to pay for. A few days later, in Manhattan, Arlington, and Shanksville, a lesson from He Who spoke at Sinai, 7 weeks after smiting the firstborn of Egypt and drowning their army. A lesson we have not learned yet, with Durban II being planned as we speak.

If you say "US out of UN", people say you're an isolationist-Bircher-La Roucher whatever. Not a bit! America has had diplomatic relationships, trade relationships, and military alliances for nearly two centuries prior to the UN. Who needs its permission? Frankly, I'd like to see a very close mutual defense and free trade pact among America, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau. Why these five, besides the advantages of huge military bases smack in the heart of the Middle East and the western Pacific (not far from China)?

I studied State Dept. statistics on votes in the UN General Assembly from 2001-2005. Israel voted with us more than 90%. Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau (the three successors to the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands) voted with us more than 80%. Every other country was under 60%. Only a few indeed were over 50%; if memory serves, they were Australia, Canada, France and the UK. Those huge Muslim recipients of military and economic aid in the Middle East? Voting against us the vast majority of the time.

In other words - who needs them? Why do people keep talking about reforming the UN when they're actually making the world less safe? Let's take our money and walk!

Pamela, I agree with you 110%. The UN is nothing but a Dictators' Club to use against the United States.

May you, your family, and your friends have a safe and prosperous new year!

Live long and profit!
John D Infidel

How did this happen? Because little by lttle, over the years, 2 bit dictators wre admitted to the UN.

Every little country, with a local ruler, steeped in the stinking corpse of corruption is there. Every single UN Repr. is personally connected to the despots - be they brother, brother-in-law, cousin, or otherwise connected to the ruling family, getting huge perks - including diplomatic immunity. That means, as well, takiing lethal drugs to and fro.

And how they laugh at us.

In regard to diplomatic, or dhimmiplotamic immunity, I remember a case several years ago, that members of the royal family of s. arabia were traveling from France to the UK -with huge wood cases. THe customs officials found it was "snow" - but couldn't do anything about it.

How these scum laugh at us!

OOps - I'm so indignant, I missed out - I meant: dhimmiplomatic.

Rather than leaving the UN, which would simply play into the hands of the thugs, I would like to see the us unilaterally change the formula for our "contribution" to be on a per capita basis equal to that of the average of the other current members of the Security Council.

Only Bolton can make that happen. But he doesn't even run for office and he wouldn't fare better than Tancredo by the looks of it.

How many civilized nations are there? 20? 30? Well, its them incl. the US who foot the bill for the 150 other parasitic dictatorships who are as corrupt as you want them to be, heavily infiltrated by Muhammedan petrodollars and they have no scruples to promote the Islamofascist agenda.

Some may call this 'democracy'- I spit when I hear the word.

King Charles - I respectfully disagree. Your proposal is something I might have accepted a few years ago. I have finally reached the point of saturation with enabling evil.

I would hope that those reading this site would have some awareness of the concepts discussed in Atlas Shrugged. It's well worth reading, even though I don't agree with it 100%. One of the key ideas in the book is that evil persists only because of the sanction we give it. It is staying in the UN that plays into the hands of the thugs. Leaving the UN would cut their budget by one quarter, and their capacity to do mischief.

To put this in simple terms, it is the biting of the hand that feeds you! So now we must discipline this dog of the UN. Feed it less, provide it no cover in which to hide. Allow it no room to breed.

And as far as the others, specifically those in the ME who still choose to allow sensless destruction and the killing of innocent women and children. Their hands should not only be smacked, but their arses whipped into oblivion. Yet, our own government allows this behaviour. The SOS, Ms. Rice agreed to a half a billion dollar buyout to the dogs of the PLO. WHY? Israel should be allowed to enforce their own borders and country. They should also be able to take back what has been given to them by this dog named the UN. I would suggest that Israel wipe out the Palestine name from thier grounds. For there will be no peace with Islam. Take back your lands Israel, take as much as you need.

Kill the UN, for it serves no purpose that is useful. Too much coruption there.
I agree Pamela, dissolve the UN, they have been useless from the start.

You good folks are obviously new to this discussion (re: the UN) so allow me to enlighten you;

The UN has ALWAYS been America hating, Jew baiting SCUM!!! (And they control massive amounts of US territory....i.e. You National Parks.

U.N. institutional structures consistently are used to isolate and vilify Israel.

* Israel is the only country in the world that is not eligible to sit on the Security Council, the principal policy making body of the U.N. This situation violates the principle of the "sovereign equality of all member states" of the U.N. under Article 2 of the U.N. Charter.
* Seven of the 140 items submitted for a vote in the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) in 2002 were anti-Israel. Last year, the UNGA adopted 19 anti-Israel resolutions.
* Israel is the object of more investigative committees, special representatives and rapporteurs than any other state in the U.N. system. For example, a special representative of the Director-General of UNESCO visited Israel 51 times during 27 years of activity. The Director-General of the International Labor Organization has sent a "Special Mission" to Israel and the territories every year for the past 17 years.
* The "Special Committees" and "Palestinian Units" of the U.N. spend more than $3 million a year, essentially to spread anti-Israel propaganda. These bodies-the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the Division on Palestinian Rights and the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs-are the focus of the worst anti-Israel activity under the aegis of the U.N. They organize, inter alia, the annual "Palestine Day" events at the U.N., as well as symposia and other events.
* The U.N. has repeatedly held "Emergency Special Sessions" focusing solely on Israel. Originally conceived in 1950 for emergencies like the Korean War, Emergency Special Sessions over the past 15 years have only focused on Israel. No Emergency Special Sessions were convened to examine the genocide in Rwanda, ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia or other major world conflicts.
* The U.N. routinely attempts to circumvent the founding principle of direct negotiations. The UNGA passes annual resolutions that undermine the principles of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, based on direct negotiations between the two parties. By proposing specific solutions to issues such as Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and settlements, the U.N. pre-judges the outcome of negotiations. Ironically, it was the U.N. Security Council that proposed bilateral negotiations through Resolution 242 (1967) and 338 (1973).

The U.N. has failed to investigate Palestinian actions supporting terrorism.

* The U.N. has never initiated any inquiry into Yasir Arafat and the Palestinian Authority's role in aiding and abetting terrorists, or passed one resolution condemning any terrorist organization operating against Israel.
* One glaring example of the U.N.'s biased policy against Israel is the concealment and vehement denial of the existence of videotape of Hezbollah's abduction of three Israeli soldiers made by U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon. For 11 months, the U.N. lied to the world and denied the existence of any evidence related to the abduction. When the cover-up was exposed, revealing the existence of the videotape, the U.N. eventually showed Israel a heavily edited videotape with the faces of the terrorists blurred. When asked the reason behind this, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan stated it was due to the U.N.'s standing as a neutral organization.

The U.N. has tolerated and fostered anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda.

* The U.N. has condemned virtually every conceivable form of racism. It has established programs to combat racism and its multiple facets - including xenophobia - but has consistently refused to condemn anti-Semitism. It only was on November 24, 1998, more than 50 years after the U.N.'s founding, that the word anti-Semitism was first mentioned in a U.N. resolution (GA Res. A/53/623).
* "The Talmud says that if a Jew does not drink every year the blood of a non-Jewish man, he will be damned for eternity." -Saudi Arabian delegate Marouf al-Dawalibi before the 1984 U.N. Human Rights Commission conference on religious tolerance. A similar remark was made by Farouk al-Chareh, the Syrian Ambassador to the U.N., at a 1991 meeting, who insisted Jews killed Christian children to use their blood to make matzos, a charge recently recycled in a Saudi government sponsored newspaper.
* On March 11, 1997, the Palestinian representative to the U.N. Human Rights Commission falsely charged Israel with injecting 300 Palestinian children with the HIV virus.

The U.N. Human Rights Commission promotes anti-Israel, anti-Semitic resolutions.

* The Commission on Human Rights routinely adopts totally disproportionate resolutions concerning Israel. Of all condemnations of this agency, 26 percent refer to Israel alone, while rogue states such as Syria and Libya are never criticized.
* Last summer's conference on Human Rights in Durban, South Africa, was devoted almost entirely to condemning Israel. The conference was boycotted by the United States and Britain.
* The United States was kicked off the U.N. Commission for Human Rights in May 2001, despite being one of the most outspoken advocates for human rights and a founding member of the Commission. It was replaced by Sierra Leone and the Sudan, both of which have records of abuses of human rights, including slavery and the forced use of children as soldiers. The United States recently regained its seat after a yearlong absence.

Put down the crack-pipes and start paying attention. The US OUT OF THE UN campaign began in 1945......but the predecessors of our Republicrats...the U.S. Communists prevailed, and here were are.

You all make me feel old.

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
