Suave Sexy Sarkozy
You gotta love Sarkozy. Seriously. The man is hot. And unapologetic.
However, the president has remained tight-lipped about his relationship .....telling the press he "couldn't care less" what they think about it.
Sarkozy and Bruni take a holiday in Egypt. There's talk of marriage. Drei writes;
Sarkozy is the ultimate badass: a French conservative descended from Jewish Hungarians who looks just like Jean-Paul Belmondo. And he's got wonderful taste in girlfriends. Here's his new one-- ex-model and now singer-songwriter Carla Bruni. Is there anything better than a gorgeous woman with a guitar?
Hot.

In my totally unbiased and very learned opinion,,,,Carla really is hot! (Does that make me shallow?)

she writes music to poetry ........ how great is that?
The music kinda sucks but hey, so what? The poetry is what matters :)

I'm more interested in whether or not he keeps his promises. The way things are going he won't be. In a very short time he's joined the fashionable "in crowd" and become a member of the Appeasers of Islam Club.

He reminds me of Al Pacino.

Maybe. She cuts a better figure than Diane Keaton, that's for sure.
Her adaptations of poetry risk rendering them whimsical in ways they were never intended (Yeats? Dickinson???). But the French pop chanson has never pretended to innovate poetry -- the distinction is to be gained in the interpretation.
Among Piaf... Barbara... Gainsbourg... Souad Massi -- the vocalisations, instrumentalizations, even the staging doesn't change much. What remains to be seen is what she does within the pop-folk genre. What subtle variations will come out... By her comfort at the mike and her smoky intonations she's like a Norah Jones fast-forwarded to emotional and sexual maturity -- Quel plaisir!
It's interesting to try to pick up on what she and Sarko "get" from each other, each not doubt being a potent aphrodisiac to the other....
I hope, if he still has a any of his prostate functioning, Rudy'll get invited to a dinner with them. Could be good for the ol' boy.

As an ex-European I will never understand how Americans tick: you admire Sarko although he does dirty deals with the likes of Gaddafi, he chases after skirts, he drinks and whores like every other French president (and most other Euro-polit props) before him, all of it accepted and never scandalized in the European press. Yet when your POTUS gets a blowjob from an intern the world stands still for 2 years, you don't want a prez who drinks, whores or smokes, and you can't even accept a guy with a reciting hair line.
Unfortunately Elvis just left the building...

omg! Can we have a light, delicious moment here at Atlas or what?
It's a great story. The man is divorced. Give me (and him) a break.
And frankly, while he might not be perfect, it is a very good thing that he was elected in commie loving, Islamist France.

Our admiration of Sarko is for the very same reasons for our condemnation of Clintons I and II -- politics and leadership, first, and then character.
We loathe Billyboy, e.g., for sending lawyers after the first World Trade Center bombers, then for smashing a pill factory in Sudan to try to distract from - as one commentator (an ex-European, in fact) phrased it - "a filthy lunge at a cupcake." The adultery was a grave enough issue -- BILL CLINTON MADE IT WORSE FOR HIMSELF AND FOR THE NATION by adding to it: perjury, witness intimidation, tampering of evidence.
(It's worth noting that, whatever reputation the French have for initiating teens into sex as young as possible, Sarko chases after a skirt that's much closer to his own years than Billyboy did vis a vis Ms. Lewinsky.)
The decidedly liberal "mandate for change" upon which Bill Clinton was elected in '92 was exceeded by an even bigger mandate for change (a conservative and populist mandate) in the GOP's '94 Congressional victory. That, btw, is a big reason why Clinton II is struggling for momentum right now - she's just not a change agent....
If you have more to contribute about Sarko's record, please do. As for American affairs, well, watch and learn....

Unlike Bill Clinton, sheik yer'mami, Sarkozy did the honorable thing and ended his failing first marriage before he went dating another woman.
The only things Bill and Hillary Clinton truly agree upon are:
1. Getting "their" White House back.
2. Clintons in power forever (G-d help us)
3. Bill and Hillary both like hot and easy women.

I'm all for light and fun moments. But, I agree with Sheik yer' mami on this one. I could care less who Sarkozy is sleeping with. I don't disagree with divorced people having fun. But, in this case, the man is in power and is unapologetic about the fact that he is not keeping his promises regarding Islam. Consequently I don't find the fact that he doesn't apologize for anything sexy.

I've been trying to figure out why this post bothered me. I know that it was just for fun, and a diversion from the usual serious stuff. I've been questioning whether or not I've turned into a sour old broad. Well, that's entirely possible. However, I think the word unapologetic struck a nerve in me. Throughout the west our leaders align themselves with Islamists. Openly, the U.S. government has a relationship with the Saudis that is highly inappropriate. Yet the Bush administration is unapologetic about this relationship, despite the fact that it has obviously compromised the U.S. government. Clinton was unapologetic about destroying the lives of Christians in Kosovo to pacify his Islamist friends. Carter is unapologetic about his disgusting relationships with Islamists. I am fed up with western leaders who do what they bloody well please. They have forgotten that they are supposed to be working for their citizens not against. In the meantime, they align themselves with Islamists, and are completely unapologetic towards their citizens whose lives they are destroying.
I still don't care who Sarkozy takes to bed. He's a bachelor and can have sex with whomever he pleases. However, I do care about the fact that his unapologetic personality has carried forward to his citizens. It doesn't stop with his present romantic relationship - it transfers to the citizens whose lives he is supposed to protect from Islamists. Sarkozy isn't just screwing this woman, he's screwing his own citizens. He's not just sleeping with her but is also sleeping with Islamists - without apology. Instead of making him sexy - it makes him a cheap whore.

Jane, When I used the word unapologetic, it was more a description of his character. He does what he wants and he makes no apology for it.We need that in our GOP candidates. They are always backpedaling and/or making excuses. I admire men that do and say what they want and stand by it (ie Bolton)
When some asshat reporter was asking Sarkozy inane questions when being interview in the US this past summer, he got up and walked out.
I certainly have real issues with Sarkozy's nuclear pact with Qaddafi but that was not the point of the post.
Yes it was blog candy on Christmas. I thought them a sexy couple and I love love. Beauty, kindness, truth, love .... it's why I do what I do.
Sarkozy has a set and he stands tall. I have not written him off yet and while I do not like some of his positions the alternative was unthinkable.
They are a hot, beautiful couple. That's it. That was the point of the post. Nothing more. I have written extensively (as has a href+"http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/france_uncensored_sophie_stateside/index.html"/>Atlas correspondent Sophie) on Sarkozy's wrong turns.
Now back to the jihad.

Pam: I know that the post was just for fun. I also know the firm stand you continually take regarding world issues. I also know that you have reported on problems with Sarkozy. I can see how my comments would be perceived as attacking your judgment in this regard. While that wasn't my intention, I guess it was the result.
I like strong men too. I respect Bolton. But I do not respect men like Sarkozy, Bush, Blair and anyone else who is unapologetic about how they are screwing their citizens.
I know the romantic in you just saw the love and the nice relationship. I suspect my comments and others have taken away from your pleasure. For that I sincerely apologize.
However, I will remain unapologetic for viewing unapologetic traitors as the whores that they are. The majority of our leaders say and do what they please. We don't need any more leaders who are comfortable screwing their people in an unapologetic way. Being unapologetic doesn't necessarily make one strong and a person of character. It can also mean that the person is just another arrogant and dangerous bastard. There is a long list such SOB's and Sarkozy's name is on it.
I agree - back to the jihad for all of us. While the world continues to be distracted by a host of diversions - the clock is ticking and time is running out.

Why are you guys talking about Sarkozy?
Wait a sec... oh yeah, I guess he is those pictures.

I hate to rain on your party, but I, for one, think that Sarko's obsession with southern Mediterranean dictatorships bodes no good for France or the EU (why on earth did he have to vacation in Egypt?).
Apart from that, it is not true that Sarko is descended from Hungarian Jews. The Hungarian side of his family is Catholic, while his Jewish roots are limited to a Greek grandfather who converted to Catholicism. Sarkozy himself is a self-professed Catholic, which does not prevent him from flaunting his female conquests, but then again electorates seem pretty indifferent to ideological consistency these days, and so it is unlikely that this will dent his popularity.
His plans for a Mediterranean Union might however, if realized, make the French wish they had not voted him in.
