State Department Spits in my face......
... and tells me it's raining. This latest front page news story is an insult to every American or freedom loving person that has even average intelligence. The New York Times ate up every mendacious morsel ... jihad lovers. We know the mullahs are running 3,000 centrifuges. Just two days ago the poison pygmy promised Israel would be removed. But the media will eat this tripe up like pigs at the trough. Would they mention the 10,000 grim milestone? Never. They wouldn't even run it in the obits.
But the national security adviser, Stephen J. Hadley, quickly issued a statement describing the N.I.E. as containing positive news rather than reflecting intelligence mistakes.
“The estimate offers grounds for hope that the problem can be solved diplomatically — without the use of force — as the administration has been trying to do,” Mr. [tool] Hadley said.
I discussed with with Dr Eldad, candidate for Prime Minister of Israel, and he thought it was utter nonsense as well. Here's the Podcast.
Iran Halted Nuclear Arms Plans, U.S. Says By Pamela Hess
Putz Hadley
WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 — A new assessment by American intelligence agencies concludes that Iran
halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and that the program remains
frozen, contradicting judgment two years ago that Tehran was working
relentlessly toward building a nuclear bomb." (NY Times)
WASHINGTON — Iran halted its nuclear weapons development program in the fall of 2003 under international pressure but is continuing to enrich uranium, which means it may still be able to develop a weapon between 2010 and 2015, senior intelligence officials said today.
Oh puhleeze ..............
That finding, in a new National Intelligence Estimate on Iran, is a change from two years ago, when American intelligence agencies believed Tehran was determined to develop a nuclear capability and was continuing its weapons development program. It suggests that Iran is susceptible to diplomatic pressure, the official said.

The majority will buy this crap. We need new leaders throughout the west. I'm tired of having dhimmis running our countries. G-d help us - idiot slaves of the Saudis are in the White House. When exactly did the Saudis take over the U.S. government? Does anyone have a date for such a historic event?

I'm not really joking about the Saudi take over. Nothing makes any sense any more about anything to do with Islam. It's a very rare politician who speaks out against this stuff. Is the entire U.S. government owned by the Saudis? Are they just holding back on making an official announcement? Nothing - absolutely nothing either party is doing makes any sense. Both sides are in bed with enemies of the free world. There is definitely something rotten in the State of Denmark. We'd better find out what it is before any more damage is done.

Let's correct a rare factual error in your post, PG. The article is about a National Intelligence Estimate. This was not produced by the Foggy Bottom fog machine (aka - Department of State) but by the McLean Mumblers (aka, CIA).
That being said, there are a few things to point out about this new NIE.
First, the NIE cites new intel. The only intel that might be available could have been from documents Israelis spirited out of the Syrian target site.
Second, that target site may have been an assembly site for nuclear weapons. Iran's program is currently geared toward weapons-fuel production. There was an obvious synergy here. Moreover, if Iran does develop enough fissionable uranium (rather than plutonium), then assembling a fission bomb is a comparatively low-tech operation.
Third, this NIE could have been written for domestic consumption. The brief may simply be another way of saying that Bush will leave Iran for his successor to deal with.

chsw, That pic of dhimmi Hadley was from The NY Times article on this story with the caption, "Stephen J. Hadley, the national security adviser, discussed Iran's nuclear program at the White House." See here
Just for knowing

Ken Timmerman most ably describes the repeated efforts of the CIA in this vein since 2001..but I am aghast at trying to imagine the WHY.
Do they believe this?
If this was true, why does not Iran cooperate fully with the IAEA? Why not have the germans come in an testify to their transparency?
Nothing about this makes the least amount of sense.

From Einstein's letter to FDR in 1939 to the first A-Bomb in 1945 was only six years.

The only countries with agent on the ground in Iran are........no. not the [former]United States....FRANCE and ISRAEL!!
The only Recon Sats peeping down over Iran are.....Israeli!! (This administration and all other US administration since Reagan....have no need for hard intel.....they can trust the Muzzies!)
It's a cookbook!

Earlier today (Israel time), Ehud Barak stated hat the released NIE does not fully describe the situation. He says that Iran resumed work on its nuclear weaponry program and that the US intel community knows this.
To me, the existence of all of those centrifuges and the refusal of Iran to accept cheaper, foreign supplied reactor fuel demonstrates that Iran aims to have a nuclear weapon. Therefore, I say that this NIE is a message that Iran will be the next POTUS' problem.

Russia has good intel on Iran.

Oh no! What are you guys going to do now that you can't have your Iran war?
Posted by: Zack Woodson | Tuesday, December 04, 2007 at 12:03 PM
One of the problems with the NIE is that its conclusions are the result of a 'consensus' of a rather small group of people. In addition, such conclusions are produced without proper review. This is a very important and damning problem, and it affects all such NIE conclutions, not merely those on Iran (e.g., the NIE conclusions about the state of the Iraq nuclear weapons program in 2003). The whole procedure is designed in such a way that a very small number of people can, without effective challenge, dictate the conclusions.
The result is that any such intelligence estimates are seriously suspect. This is very bad for the U.S. no matter what political leaning one may have. The U.S. needs good intelligence, but, because of the procedural manner in which the NIE is developed, it is unlikely to get good intelligence estimates. Major disasters could well result.

chsw, are you sure the NIE wasn't masterminded by the State Dept.? Read this crucial column by Kenneth Timmerman:
http://newsmax.com/timmerman/iran_nukes/2007/12/04/54359.html
He says the NIE was written by former State Dept. analysts hostile to Bush and Bolton, relying on an unvetted source.
