Violated FBI files named snitches Detroit Press hat tip Carolyn

An illegal immigrant who parlayed a sham marriage into citizenship and key jobs at the FBI and CIA made five unauthorized inquiries into an FBI computer system to find out about investigations of Hizballah, a federal prosecutor said in court papers filed Wednesday in Detroit.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth Chadwell didn't indicate why Nada Nadim Prouty, a Lebanese immigrant who once lived in Taylor, wanted the information or what she did with it. But he said four of the inquiries involved files containing the names of confidential FBI informants.

They didn't know why she wanted the names of the Hizballah informants? To turn over to hezbollah you maroooons!

In another development, a federal official familiar with the case said the CIA had access to derogatory information about Prouty before the FBI hired her in 1999, but failed to disclose it when the FBI contacted the CIA during a background check.

Had the information been disclosed, the official said, the FBI might not have hired her. More perplexing, the official said, is why the CIA hired Prouty away from the FBI.

The CIA declined comment.

The court papers filed Wednesday said Prouty made at least one unauthorized inquiry to find out whether one of the investigations of Hizballah involved her brother-in-law, fugitive La Shish restaurant owner Talal Chahine. Prosecutors have said Chahine is a supporter of Hizballah, which the U.S. government has designated as a terrorist group.

The latest details about Prouty's unauthorized computer inquiries were laid out in an indictment of Chahine.

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, a Brighton Republican and ex-FBI agent who serves on the House Intelligence Committee, said the Prouty episode is alarming. She pleaded guilty in the case last month in Detroit.

"I think this is a very serious security breach," Rogers said Wednesday, adding that the House Intelligence Committee has started looking into the case and hopes to conduct hearings in late January.

Marine pleads guilty to passport fraud, admits bogus marriage

A Lebanese-born U.S. Marine captain is the latest defendant in a web of phony marriages and fraudulent citizenships obtained by women connected to LaShish Restaurants owner Talal Chahine.

Samar Khalil Spinelli, 39, a highly decorated Marine captain who has served two tours in Iraq, pleaded guilty in federal court today to conspiracy and passport fraud.

Spinelli admitted to U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn that in 1990 she entered into a bogus marriage with a U.S. citizen which she used to obtain her citizenship in 1994. She obtained a U.S. passport later the same year and filed for divorce in 1995, according to court records.

At the time of the phony marriage, Spinelli lived in Taylor with two women: Elfat El Aouar, now 40, who later married LaShish Restaurants owner Talal Chahine; and Nada Nadim Prouty, 37, a sister of El Aouar. Both those woman, also born in Lebanon, have already pleaded guilty to citizenship fraud through phony marriages. Spinelli's and Prouty's bogus marriages were to brothers.

A third sister, Detroit-area physician Rula Al-Aouar, 36, has also been charged with citizenship fraud for yet another bogus marriage.

While Spinelli went on to become a Marine captain now stationed in Japan, Prouty used her fraudulently obtained citizenship to land jobs with the FBI and CIA. Prouty admitted in federal court last month to illegally searching FBI case files for her name and Chahine's name and for illegally accessing the case file of a Detroit FBI investigation of the terrorist organization Hezbollah.

Federal officials say Chahine, a fugitive indicted for tax evasion who is believed to be living in Lebanon, has ties with Hezbollah. No such allegations have been made against Spinelli.

If the FBI can now backtrack the electronic trail left by Prouty, why where those unauthorized inquiries not flagged immediately? This is pathetic.

When I was in the military a quarter of a century ago, in many cases if you married a foreign national, if you had a high clearance (> Top Secret or SCC) you lost your clearance or it got lowered.

Today, the fookin' guv'mint is handing out clearances to foreign nationals like candy... what a mess.

And the CIA had bad info on Prouty and didn't share it??? Those CIA people should be arrested for treason!!!

Something stinks about this plea agreement.

Why was this Hezbo mole incident reported to press AFTER she pled guilty and not when it was being investigated or at the time of her arrest? Someone in the guvmint pushed this case through very quickly with hopes to have it swept under the rug. Too embarrassing?

And why is Prouty only charged with immigration law violations? She committed treason and sedition. Immigration violations will get her a slap on the wrist and free ticket back to Lebanon.

I remember what the government did to Jonathan Pollard. He spied for an ally and gave them info that was supposed to go to them anyway.

I've been criticized for calling for Pollard's release (which is his plea agreement), but I'm vindicated with the fawning treatment this spy for Hizbollah is given.

Incidentally, that AIPAC guy Rosen was entrapped by that FBI guy Szaidy. Rosen is being prosecuted to through the dual loyalty canard against the American Jews and keep them in a state of fear. If Jewsish supporters of Israel are dual loyalist (they're not) then, at least, Jews are sympathizers with the Hizbollah as our intelligence services have shown to be with their treatment of Prouty.

Since the so-called inteligence services like spies for Hizbollah so much, they're not American loyalists at all.
