This is exactly the kind of s--t that will keep many Jews on the left. I think you all need to read Canada's self-described "Price of Darkness" super-genius Warren Kinsella's speech to a group of Jews recently. See points 7 & 8.
Gosh, what Ann Coulter said is scary to a lot of people. Real scary to me. One of my chief tormentors in school has the same mindset. She has gone too far (again), but at least she's decent enough to be nonviolent, forthright and sincere.

"So what?" - Probably because people may have felt that she had used you (and others) for her own gain, and having done so didn't hesitate to show disrespect for the Jewish religion. Of course she has a right to believe what she wants. But, does her belief give her the right to put others down? While her tone wasn't threatening - how are her statements any different from those spouted by Islamists who believe that everyone who isn't Muslim is less? All religions have their viewpoints on who is going to make it to heaven. The world would be a better place if people kept their religious beliefs to themselves - instead of pushing them down everyone's throat.
"As long as she isn't blowing people up or forcing them to convert or die, so what? I mean really." - Of course you are correct - she isn't killing anyone. However her words do have an impact on society and they were tactless and irresponsible. I think that such flip statements feed and encourage prejudice against Jews. Coulter has a powerful public voice. Her statements were grossly irresponsible at a time when anti-Semitism is rising again throughout the world. For a public figure like Anne Coulter to make such statements reinforces and encourages religious prejudice that has harmed Jews throughout the ages, and continues to do so today.
No doubt you received many copies of this article from leftists who wanted to gloat. I hope that the majority who sent it to you did so because they feel great affection for you. Many, including myself are very grateful to you for the hard work you do in fighting the threat of Islam. We respect your tenacity and courage, and resent someone like Anne Coulter readily taking your help one week, and then shortly afterwards trashing your religion. Obviously, the remarks reflect badly on her - not your efforts on her behalf.
Ann Coulter is a bright woman who has found a way to make a buck voicing her opinions in controversial ways. While she can be entertaining on a minor level - for the most part she is crass and quickly wears thin. Obviously she wanted to be controversial during the interview. Was she Jew baiting? The media seems to be doing a lot of that lately. People, like Coulter are getting too comfortable with their put downs of Jews. Admittedly it was carefully cloaked in her religious beliefs, but it still resulted in a put down of the Jewish faith, disrespect for the beliefs of the interviewer, and disrespect for those of the Jewish faith who have helped her career.
I don't see Muslim baiting going on in mainstream media. But, all bets are off when it comes to Jews. I think there is something inherently wrong with that picture. Obviously I don't want to live in a world where people are afraid to speak. But I do find the increased put-downs of Jews troubling in today's political climate. Islamists are actively working to portray Jews in a bad light, and are frequently assisted by the left and right. It's noteworthy that one doesn't see Muslim baiting on mainstream media. I guess Jews are considered fair game because they won't be issuing any fatwas.

Jane. Loved your post. Proud you write here.
Coulter is entitled to her beliefs.
She says Christians consider themselves perfected Jews. I say Jews were perfect to begin with.
She says, "We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe — this is just a statement of what the New Testament is — is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament."
I say why the second book? The first one was "perfect". Moreover the second book opened the door to further "reinterpretation" of the old testament and next thing you know you have another version with subverted texts, and twisted objectives in the form of the Koran.
She says Christ is the savior. I say the messiah hasn't come and the way things are looking he won't be here for awhile.
She says Christ is the lord, I cite the first commandment, "I am the lord they G-d, you shall have no other G-ds before me."
But hey why split hairs?
We could go on and on but it's opinion and the belief that one's religion is better than all the rest.
That said, I wouldn't want to convert anyone or kill anyone for disagreeing with me.
You have made salient points all but I do not believe Coulter is guilty of your run of the mill, garden variety Jew hatred. Coulter has been an outspoken proponent of Israel and the Jewish people.
"By their fruits ye shall know them." And so we know Coulter.
Schlussel has an interesting take here.

Pamela,
I agree with you wholeheartedly here.
She has a right to say what she says. This is Amerca.
She is a Christian, apparently, and it is her right to believe thusly.
She, certainly, is not threatening to kill anyone for their beliefs, so she is not at all like the Islamists.
Abe Foxman, however, will probably have diahrrea in the morning over this.
But, what are you gonna do?

I'm a godless Israeli atheist, and I don't care about all this "my religion is better than yours" nonsense.
I do respect Judaism though. Jews keep their faith to themselves and don't want to convert everybody on the planet to Judaism.

Finally, a sensible reaction!
All religions maintain that theirs is the best / most accurate take on the relation between Man and God. That's baked into the cake. Of course as a Christian I believe that Judaism is a lesser faith -- and of course a believing Jew would feel the opposite. So why get exercised about it when someone says so, as long as he doesn't claim the privilege of imposing himself and his faith upon you by force?

Anne Coulter jumps the shark. She's right 90% of the time but she's gone too far. Not sure how anyone could take her seriously after this.

I'm not going to join these lynchmobs against Ann sponsored by selfhating Jew and enemy of Israel, George Soros. Media Matters is helped through Soros groups such as CAP, Democracy in Action, and Moveon.org.
Christian dogma holds that they are perfected Jews? Jewish dogma holds that Jews are the Chosen people? So what? They're not the ones murdering us and saying we're apes and pigs. I spoke to Pamela earlier on her radio show and she knows my opinion.

Unlike islamic nations this is a free country. Ms. Coulter has the right to be wrong occasionally. But as a "Christian" (a term originally coined as a derogatory one for a follower of Yeshua) she should remember that He is alive, not dead, and that He is still a Jew. Yeshua ha'masheach, Jesus the Messiah, never came to start a new religion, but to return Jews to "the Way", and to graft in those who were not Jews but were followers and believers in Him in place of those who had been cast out because of their unbelief.

You know what.... the interviewer was goading her, he was hogging the airtime, wouldn't let her get a full answer, he interrupted her, and finally, she got pissed and resorted to short, stiff, answers - it was the only way she could probably keep from spitting on the bastard.
As a Christian, I heard more of a verbal slap to the face of the rude interviewer than an insult to Jews.
Everyone who knows Coulter knows she is not an anti-semite, just like everyone knows that Rush is not anti-military.
Coulter IS anti-dickhead. And I ask, "What's wrong with that?"
Patriotic Jews that want to defeat Jihad are over it, let the liberals and the "Jewicidals" bitch and moan - they're going to anyway.

You know what? You've been had by an uppity WASP who used you the way she uses fundementalist Christians to promote her agenda and fill her coffers. The truth of the matter is Coulte doesn't give a shit about Jews or "true believers." They are just a means to her ends, which as Deutch so aptly called it on his Today Show appearance, is keeping Coulter in the spotlight to sell books. You all have been had. Hats off to Deutch. He has seen the light.

This is a case of the lefty MSM trying to hold on to those Jewish votes for their side. Scare them enough that the "fundies" are out to get them and they will keep voting for the secular left because they are fooled into thinking that is where their interests are going to be protected. What a crock. I worked in political organizing for years for the left (before I woke up and got morally honest with myself). I have never worked with more anti-Semites than in the back rooms of the political left.
As a committed Christian, I believe that the Jewish people are G-d's chosen. That informs my loyalty to Israel and it's people, and a special commitment to the fight against anti-Semitism.
But I also believe that only through Jesus Christ are we saved and I pray for the salvation of all mankind.
The best friends that the state of Israel and Jewish people worldwide have are evangelical Christians. We might not agree on the identity of Jesus but we are still on the same side. If you wanna talk about His identity, I will argue with you all day. If you wanna stand up to those who scapegoat and hate Jews, then we stand together.
