Navy imam Chaplain Abuhena M. Saifulislam lifted his voice to God as he called to prayer more than 100 Department of Defense employees Monday at a celebration of Ramadan at the Pentagon.

“God is most great,” sang the lieutenant commander and Islamic leader, in Arabic, as iftar — the end of the daily fast began.

Uniformed military personnel, civilians and family members faced Mecca and knelt on adorned prayer rugs chanting their prayers in quiet invocation to Allah.

As the Pentagon celebrated Ramadan, the White House is in preparations for an iftar feast tomorrow, said Lt. Cmdr. Saifulislam, who will be participating at the White House events.

“President and Mrs. Bush host an iftar dinner every year because they want people around the world to know how much they respect Islam and the many Muslims living in the U.S. who are free to worship as they want, and are an integral part of our society," said Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

With the Pew Hispanic Center estimating the U.S. Muslim population in 2007 at 2.35 million people and growing, it's no surprise to see the Muslim population play an important role in all facets of government, said Defense Department officials.

Defense officials could not readily provide current estimates on the number of Muslim service members, but said the department works diligently to provide spiritual counseling and guidance to service members of all faiths.

Some chow halls in the Air Force did, especially if the Senior NCO in the chow hall was Catholic of if a good Catholic chaplain was on base.

What about always having a kosher section for Jewish GIs? Rarely.

“God is most great,” sang the lieutenant commander .... NO! What he is saying and doesn't even know it is that "Allah is great". The shahada says "there is no ILLAH (god) except Allah (proper name)". Allah is the name of the moon god of Mohammed's tribe, not the Arabic word for God, even though that is the only word they will use for God.

Is this an yearly ritual in Pentagon done every year OR started first time from this year ?. Is this going to happen in all other western countries also ?. This is just not done in the " Govt.Office" on "Govt.duty or Non-duty time" even in Secular Democratic India where so many faiths are practiced and for any faith. In India they do it in Mosques or on Govt. lands/Roads (and shamelessly block the roads for some hrs.!!). There is no end to their Islamic "fancies". Don't these Islamics have some sane advisers in USA ?. It seems that some of them are already in "Hot Spots" in US Military Services. God Bless America and 'world'! Its already heavily 'infested'.The 'war' is already 'lost one'!!...

I've heard that Christians used to go smilling into the teeth of the lions when the Romans were slaughtering us, and that Gahndi suggested the Jews should've "offerd themselves to the butchers knife", soooo, what the hell, if my President chooses to honor a religion that has produced nothing but hate, murder, torture, the total forfieture of any assemblance of rights (let alone equality) for women etc., who the hell am I to judge ?
