SHOCKA! THE BBC gets it wrong .........
The BBC gets it wrong. Even when they do something right, they get it dead wrong.
Atlasite Nicole sends me this surprising exchange.
"Yesterday, this was one of the headlines on The Drudge Report: " KID'S BBC SITE OFFERS CURIOUS 9/11 EXPLANATION... ^ From the September 11, 2007 16:14:25 GMT edition of the Drudge Report."
When I clicked on the link, this was the 'explanation':
"The way America has got involved in conflicts in regions like the Middle East has made some people very angry, including a group called al-Qaeda - who are widely thought to have been behind the attacks. In the past, al-Qaeda leaders have declared a holy war - called a jihad - against the US. As part of this jihad, al-Qaeda members believe attacking US targets is something they should do. When the attacks happened in 2001, there were a number of US troops in a country called Saudi Arabia, and the leader of al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, said he wanted them to leave."
I immediately emailed the site:
"Pray, tell, please. Then why did Al Qaeda attack London?
I don't believe your simplistic explanation to children is appropriate. I am a mother of 3 in New York City...I watched the towers collapse while pushing my newborn in a pram less than a mile away. I do not agree with America's foreign policy, yet am puzzled by your 'blame the victim' view of a horrible tragedy.
Thousands of innocent people died that day. They were horribly murdered, including my former flat-mate of 4 years whom I shared a flat with in London in the 80's. She was Dutch and spoke 5 languages fluently, including Arabic. She was truly a citizen of the world, yet was killed by some very narrow minded people who's only wish is to see America and Britain under Sharia law. Please try to tell both sides of the story and please re-think your explanation of 9/11/01.
Thank you,
[I am redacting here name]
New York City, NY"
This is the response I got this morning.
"Dear Ms ****
Thank you for your email to Newsround. The article you are referring to is an old guide that we thought had been purged from our system. It is my understanding that it was written on the day of the attacks back in 2001. I agree that it is inappropriate and it is now being taken off the site.
In addition to this, I have asked staff to do a thorough search to ensure the guides that remain online are accurate and objective.
I am genuinely sorry that this article has appeared and that it has caused offence,
Best wishes,
Sinead Rocks Newsround Editor"
This was written on 9/11 2001?????????????????????????????? They are really sick.
Okay...it was written ON THE DAY OF 9/11??? Is this at the time The Queen was considering knighting our Mayor for his bravery? Or when London held moments of silence for our 9/11/01 victims?Anyway, they took the site down.Just thought it was interesting.
UPDATE: Uh oh ........the big pussies are backpedaling again here.

Sick, sick, sick.
