“The attack on the integrity and character of General David Petraeus is a detestable act that marks a new low in the defeatist politics of Moveon.org.  General Petraeus represents the very best of our service men and women and to slander his name in order to advance a political agenda demeans our entire military and all those currently fighting in Iraq.  General Petraeus is a man of honor who has dedicated his entire career to serving this nation. Moveon.org’s politics of personal degradation and character slander have no place in this debate. I hope that all Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle condemn this disgraceful slander. I urge my colleagues to embrace this as a turning point in which we put aside destructive, partisan politics and engage in a thoughtful discussion amongst ourselves and with the Administration as we chart the best way forward together at this critical time for our nation.”

I believe we will be able to reduce our forces to pre-surge levels ...  begin withdrawal by next summer withdrawal.

It is possible to achieve our objectives in Iraq given the time.

IMAO, Iran is obviously at war with us in Iraq. He mentions Iran and Syrian fighting us in Iraq, killing US soldiers, Iraqi

Iraqi forces are in the fight. They operate with minimal coalition assistance. 440,000 on the [defense] payroll. the number of Iraq's security forces will grow by 40,000 by the end of this year.

As a result the US will be able to reduce its forces in the months ahead

We are beyond fortunate to have this great General leading this difficult, unforgiving war against Islamic jihad. This is no way not to follow Petraeus' recommendation. It is painfully clear we are fighting the Islamism in Iraq, not downtown Manhattan.We are doing daily battle against Al Qaeda, Iran, Hezbollah (Iranian proxy), Syria (Iranian proxy). The sectarian violence is indeed a huge problem but that's part of the price that must be paid to secure the West. To age war against the installation of the caliphate as dictated in the Koran.

This is a no-brainer, which should make it easy even for the Dhimmicrats but they not only lack brains, they lack balls.

Thanks for blogging this and the links - I trust THE General a whole lot more than any politician. We cannot afford another 9/11 attack, therefore we must finish the mission in Iraq.

GEN Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are honorable and strong leaders. I've had the honor of meeting both of them a couple of times in the 4 months I've been in Iraq so far. Juxtapose Lantos, the closest thing a Holocaust survivor can be to a Holocaust denier. Despicable. Shana tova, schmuck.
