Preparing for War with Iran - Philip Sherwell and Tim Shipman
Senior
American intelligence and defense officials believe that President Bush and his
inner circle are taking steps to place America on the path to war with Iran,
amid growing fears that diplomatic efforts to slow Iran's nuclear weapons
program are doomed to fail. Now it has emerged that Condoleezza Rice, the
secretary of state, who has been pushing for a diplomatic solution, is prepared
to sanction military action. Rice's bottom line is that if the administration is
to go to war again it must build the case over a period of months and win
sufficient support on Capitol Hill. (Sunday Telegraph-UK)

France Warning of War
with Iran
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner says the world
should prepare for war over Iran's nuclear program. "We have to prepare for the
worst, and the worst is war," Kouchner said in an interview on French TV and
radio. He said negotiations with Iran should continue "right to the end," but an
Iranian nuclear weapon would pose "a real danger for the whole world." Kouchner
also said a number of large French companies had been asked not to tender for
business in Iran. (BBC News)

Well, neo-conservative nuttiness knows no bounds.
Air strikes against Iran, perhaps with bunker busting "mini nukes" if big Dick Cheney has his way,is going to open a Pandora's Box we may never be able to close.
The neo-cons' march folly in Iraq was bad enough. Bombing, perhaps even nuking Iran, will likely open the gates of hell.
But big Dick and bonny Prince George are growing desperate. The American people, even if they're having difficulty admitting it, know they were lied to about the reasons for invading Iraq.
Thus, the growing desperation on the part of big Dick and bonny Prince George.
And, if history has taught us anything, it is that desperate men often do desperate things.

Neo-conservative nuttiness apparently knows no bounds.
News that airstrikes against Iran may be imminent, perhaps even with bunker busting "mini nukes" if big Dick Cheney has his way, should alarm all sane and rational people, regardless of where they stand on the political spectrum.
Such an action will open a Pandora's Box we may never be able to close.
With the American people realizing they were lied to about the reasons for going to war in Iraq, big Dick Cheney and bonny Prince George are growing desperate to create a distraction.
And if history has taught us just one lesson, it is that desperate men often do desperate things.

macsurf: if you want to talk about distractions, try Bill Clinton starting a bombing campaign upon Serbian Orthodox Christian monasteries and Churches to distract the fact that he was gettin' head in the Oval Office.
Now, as far as I'm concerned, the French are all talk. They will commit NOTHING to the West's efforts if war is acted upon to stop Iran from getting full nuclear capability. Sarkozy may be conservative in European or French eyes, but he's not much better than Senator Byrd of WV.
Iraq and Afghanistan have to be finished if the US is going to take on Iran. Right now our forces are more than stretched thin... it's become very apparent that heavy reliance on Guard and Reserves isn't working in a "two-war" campaign.
The way National Guard and Reserves were originally supposed to be used were that active duty people were to perform war-fighting missions, while Reservists took care of bases at home.
Many states (at least 20 of them) have their National Guard capabilities depleted at least 75%, that is, at least 75% of their Guardsmen are in either one the sandboxes over there.
What a clusterfuck.
The Army has borrowed over 25,000 US Air Force personnel just for convoy duty.
Start the draft.

"Neo-conservative nuttiness apparently knows no bounds."
Another unsubstantiated non-point of conjecture.
"News that airstrikes against Iran may be imminent, perhaps even with bunker busting "mini nukes" if big Dick Cheney has his way, should alarm all sane and rational people, regardless of where they stand on the political spectrum."
Liberal name calling – a common tactic when backed into a corner with nothing of substance to say.
"Such an action will open a Pandora's Box we may never be able to close."
And what are the 2nd and 3rd order effects of inaction? What Pandora's Box will be opened by Pakistani technology (aided from the start and to this day by Canada) or former U.S.S.R. nukes released on U.S. or Israeli soil? Blame the victim and moral equivalence are other blunt liberal tools. Try reading "The Day of Islam" by Paul Williams...but you won't. “War is not the answer” – What’s the question, dimwit?
"With the American people realizing they were lied to about the reasons for going to war in Iraq, big Dick Cheney and bonny Prince George are growing desperate to create a distraction."
More name calling, and what "lies"? WMDs were but one reason for going to war, and they were the last reason listed. Many WMDs were ferried to Syria under the guise of a humanitarian mission for a dam break, as admitted by General Georges Sada of the Iraqi Air Force in "Saddam's Secrets". Caches of WMDs were declassified by Senator Rick Santorum, but you wouldn't have picked that up watching CNN. The Global War Against Islamofascism IS here in Iraq, and I'm on the front lines to see it. Genocide is genocide, as perpetrated by Saddam, and you have no appreciation for the threat posed by Ahmadinejad.
"And if history has taught us just one lesson, it is that desperate men often do desperate things."
Who are the desperate men? More unsubstantiated claims, and you don't even say who you're talking about. Desperate are the third world despots and tyrants, for their time has come. Desparate are you for a clue, and history, as well as current events, have taught you nothing that you should pontificate so.
Game, set, match. Thanks for playing.

macmurf - sounds like a typical leftist koolaid drinker.
Believes and applauds the MoveOn.org ad that calls Gen Petraeus "Betray Us". He's clueless and ignorant.
macmuff supports the troops by stabbing them in the back.
