U.S. tip-off unraveled terror plot CNN

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (CNN) -- Initial intelligence regarding an Islamic Jihad cell -- which led to the unraveling of a terror plot aimed at American military installations and other Western targets in Germany -- came from U.S. intelligence officials, German authorities said Friday.

"We received information from our American colleagues already when the suspects were trained in Pakistan," Joerg Ziercke, head of Germany's Bundeskriminalamt, or BKA, an agency similar to the United States' FBI, told CNN.

"All of the suspects we have to cope with right now have been trained in the camps of the Islamic Jihad Union in northern Pakistan. They have been trained to become terrorists, they learned how to handle explosives. And from this training phase already we received information from our friends in the U.S."
