London:Massive Bombing Averted "Packed with Nails and Gas"

By accident. That's how the authorities were alerted to the mercedes packed with gasoline and explosives. Apparently an ambulance crew responded to a sick call at a club in Haymarket - and saw the car smoking. I wonder if that mercedes was part of the global  stolen car ring.

Already the useful idiots talking heads are explaining the massive bomb as a result of "the unhappiness of the war in Iraq." WTF is wrong with these people? As if. Islam was kicking ass, setting bombs, cutting clits, killing  Jews, killing infidels, imposing sharia long before Iraq, 9/11 etc. These savages are at war with us.

London car bomb 'packed with nails and gas'

London escaped what could have been its worst terrorist attack this morning when a car bomb packed with nails, gas canisters and containers of petrol apparently failed to detonate outside a popular West End nightclub hosting a 'ladies' night'.

Police were called to Tiger Tiger nightclub in the West End shortly before 2am when smoke was seen coming from the inside of a Mercedes car parked outside. A man was seen running from the vehicle.

Inside officers discovered a "significant quantity" of petrol, nails and gas cylinders. They used a remote-controlled device to check the vehicle before bomb squad officers made it safe.

If the bomb had exploded, police said that the shrapnel would have killed or injured anyone within a wide area. The bomb itself could have caused a fireball as big as a house followed by a large shock wave.

Authorities were called to the area when an ambulance crew saw smoke coming from the car.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, head of Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism command, said: "It is obvious that if the device had detonated there could have been significant injury or loss of life.

"What the ambulance people saw was what they thought was smoke." He said the investigation would discover if it was smoke or something else.

Whitehall sources said that the police and security services are looking at possible international links - including similarities to car bombs used by insurgents in Iraq.

UPDATE: Car bomb 'primed to be detonated by mobile'

The car bomb was parked near Piccadilly Circus The explosive device, consisting of gas cyclinders and nails, was discovered outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub at 2am in The Haymarket, near Piccadilly Circus.

Similarities between the car bomb and Iraqi bomb plots have been highlighted by a British security official, according to the Associated Press.

Security alerts have brought London to a standstill today as much of the capital was shut down while police investigated two suspicious vehicles hours after officers defused a bomb that "could have caused carnage" in London's West End.

Police investigated a car near Hyde Park amid fears that it could be connected to a bomb defused by authorities hours earlier in London's West End.

A 200m cordon was put in place, cutting off one of London's major transport arteries and causing further traffic chaos after reports of the suspicious vehicle.

Two hours later, police cordoned off a 400m-stretch of Fleet Street between Fetter Lane and Ludgate Circus, in the heart of London's financial district, as they investigated a suspect vehicle. Two hours later, a spokesman for City of London police said the area had been made safe, but would not confirm whether police had found anything.

UPDATE: Second car bomb found in London's Park Lane

A second car bomb has been defused in the heart of London sparking fears that others could be primed and parked around the capital.

The petrol, gas and nail bomb was discovered in a Mercedes apparently towed into a car park pound beneath London's Park Lane after being found illegally parked in the West End of the city.

1) If I recall, there was a similar attempt to bomb a London nightclub not all that long ago. But before that, there was a 7/7 atrocity that the lefties would much rather cover over with a concert about climate change this year. Sickos!

2) Prime Minister (Tony Blair Wanna-Be) Gordon Brown has said,

"The first duty of the government is the security of the people and as the police and security services have said on so many occasions we face serious and continuous threat to our country.

"We should allow the police to investigate this incident and then report to us but this incident does recall the need for us to be vigilant at all times and the public to be alert for any potential incidents."

I could say several good derogatory comments about Gordon Brown but won't.
