Kadra's role in a 2000 hidden camera TV documentary revealing the positive attitude of Muslim leaders to female circumcision had a massive impact on Norway, and sparked new legislation.

Norwegian-Somalian Kadra, who became famous in Norway for exposing imam support of female circumcision, was beaten unconscious on Thursday.

Norwegian-Somalian Kadra has taken risks to front her views.

Kadra was attacked and beaten senseless by seven or eight persons of Somali origin, newspaper VG reports.

"I was terrified. While I lay on the pavement they kicked me and screamed that I had trampled on the Koran. Several shouted Allah-o-akbar (God is great) and also recited from the Koran," Kadra told VG.

Kadra linked the attack to recent remarks in VG where she said that the Koran's views on women needed to be reinterpreted.

Kadra said that the gang of Somali men attacked her around 3 a.m. in downtown Oslo on Thursday. A medical examination found that she had several broken ribs, NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting) reports. Kadra filed charges and was due to speak with police on Friday. Read it all.

Well just gosh darnit, if a woman can feel good having sex she just might want to experience that with a real man--and we just can't have that, can we?

Most men do not really know much about a woman's sexuality. Even a clittorectomy will not prevent a woman from experiencing her ultimate climax experience.

Something tells me that if the idiots that insist of this barbarity were forced to be circumcized at age 18 without anaesthetic, and with the crudest of tools, they'd be a lot less inclined to remain in the 12th Century.

FGM is not a religious practice of Islam, it is a regional/cultural practice that transcends religion. For example, FGM is practiced on almost all women in predominately Christian Ethiopia, but also in overwhelmingly Mulsim Somalia, and Sudan. It is also widely practiced in Sierra Leone, where women are not considered adults or suitable for marriage until they have undergone the most extreme form of FGM. However, in some the most opressive Islamic states, most people have never even heard of FGM, nevermind practiced it. There is no FGM in Saudi Arabia, or Iran, and there was none in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Similarly, there is none in Pakistan, or Bangladesh. It should go without saying (though not on this blog) that indigenous European Muslims (Albanians, Bosniaks, Azeris, Turks, Chechens) don't practice FGM and never have. Again, ladies and gents, it's a cultural practice, not a religious one. Nowhere in the Koran can you find any mention of Female Genital Mutilation.

No matter how you try to twist this, you're wrong about this being about Islam. If it was an Islamic practice, surely it would be widely practiced by Muslims outside Africa, and it certainly would be mandated by law in Saudi Arabia. It's not.

Police arrested two young men early Monday afternoon and charged them with assaulting Norwegian-Somalian activist Kadra in downtown Oslo last week. Kadra herself had spotted her attackers on an Oslo street and called police.

Female circumcision /female genital mutilation/clitorectomy ,And (Male)Circumcision is practiced in some religious communities and I know of Islam is one of them . It claims to protect the 'chastity' of women and 'men'. But what will they do about the'O' spot on the anterior wall of vagina near the introitus ?. Will they 'seal' the vagina ?. In the name of religion this is horrible. Why can't they live naturally and enjoy life?. And women watch 'handsome' men when they go out of home in 'market' in Hijabs and Burqas . Their chastity is thus violated . Either men also start wearing 'Burqas' or they should 'blind'women . Is there any end of this ?.

While it is true that this is not a real Islamic practice, it is some Muslims who claim it as such.

No one is twisting anything. In fact some people in Arabia do practice it. Check Memiv(I may have this wrong. You need to check the group who monitors and translates tv from the MidEast.)

The Muslim world could deal with this question better than non-Muslims.
