Terrorists ThisClose to Nuclear Weapons

As san fran nan meets  with state sponsors of terror, the Democrats have all but handed Iraq to the jihad and the leftists are fiddling as Rome burns;

Risks Grow of Terrorists Getting Nukes
Jerusalem Post
There is a growing threat that terrorist groups such as Hezbollah will acquire nuclear or other WMD technology, a senior US State Department official told The Jerusalem Post this week. He indicated that there are a "large number" of nuclear smuggling incidents each year, some of which are "substantial" and not limited to low-grade material. "You have this environment of material, expertise and supporting equipment [for weapons of mass destruction] being more widely available than before," he said. "You have that coupled with the demonstrated interest of some terror groups to acquire these capabilities, and that is a real concern to us. It's a bigger threat than it was in the past... You see work by the groups to try to acquire the means. It's not just the will. They are working to acquire the means," he said. While the official wouldn't discuss the specific capabilities of Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, he said "each of those terrorist groups are ones the United States is very concerned about." He also said Arab and Muslim countries were increasingly playing a role in combating the spread of such technologies to terrorist organization. The first two meetings of the US-led Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism were held in Morocco and Turkey, respectively, and the next one is scheduled for Kazakhstan. "I don't know that I could yet say it's a shared concern across the Arab world. That would be an overstatement," he said. "But I would say the beginnings are positive here. You have countries, including Islamic states, with a common vision working closely together."

and yet 4 Republicans meet with Syria as well! ALL TRAITORS!

akak...You have never made a truer statement in your entire life.

Al Qaeda has had nuke for almost ten years now.

A tactical nuclear device was seized on the Allenby Bridge on it's way into Israel. There are surely many others that have not been detected.

"Panic" is the reason given for withholding this information from the American people.

Of course outing the spy with primary responsibilty for Non-proliforation and her entire cover company has nothing to do with our current situation.

Nuclear weapons are hard to make, damn heavy (and don't hit me with the infamous "suitcase nuke" bs) and GWB and Co. have not done any real work to counter this threat.

How the F can you people blame Democrats for this one?!?!?

I hope that when they are 'thisclose' to that nuke, it only has a 10 second fuse.

"Nuclear weapons are hard to make, damn heavy (and don't hit me with the infamous "suitcase nuke" bs) and GWB and Co. have not done any real work to counter this threat."

jester;

Would you like to speak at one of our Counter-Terrorism Conferences? Can you send your CV to us?

Technical issues are not a "matter of opinion", so your statements about the nuclear threat are ridiculous and infantile.

Learn to read...visit a library.

Tactical nuclear devices, small enough to fit in a small package (hotel mini-bar size?) have been deployed by the US and Soviet Union since the 1950's. These devices have been on the black-market since the fall of the Soviet Empire.

One such device was intercepted in the possession of a Pakistani who attempted to enter Israel via the Allenby Bridge.

BS? Hardly.

My spies tell me that Pamela herself has attended a few Counter-Terrorism conferences, so her concerns hold infinitely more weight than your confused rant.

The infamous briefcase nukes that have everyone sh**ting their panties were
made in very small numbers for Spetznaz troops to use in specific tactical
considerations with very small (due to their size) yield, far less than even
the Norks recent semi-dud. As I do read this comes from the books of Viktor
Suvorov (sp?) in particular, Inside the GRU and Spetznaz respectively. Even
the grapefruit sized core of the Hiroshima bomb would be exceedingly
difficult to achieve a chain reaction UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS if only enough
explosives were used to fit in a hotel mini-bar sized fridge. And it would
weigh in at several hundred pounds at the very least.

Your comment about the Allenby Bridge did pique my interest, as I had not
heard about it before. Some quick Googling and a bit of Wikipedia show some
variation in the facts (dirty bomb? full on plutonium tactical nuke? other?)
and I cannot find anyone other than Paul Williams making similar claims.

If Al Qaeda has a nuke, why has it not been used? Not arguing that lack of
use indicates lack of possession but why have they not had the tactical
wherewithal or strategic will to so? If they have had them for 10 years
shouldn't they have been aboard the 9/11 flights?

I did not consider my comments a rant by any stretch and I have not resorted
to name-calling. I read extensively as well as having a modicum of
education with most of my undergrad work at a fairly conservative college.
I was trying to make a point about this Admins LACK of real work in this
area and that FEAR not facts seemed to be the point of the article above.

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
