The Gathering of Eagles
Photo hat tip George S (his report in update section)
The Gathering of Eagles descends into Washington DC today, protecting our war memorials from
the massive moronic covergence led by the Stalinist/anarchist group International ANSWER. More over at LGF here
CSPAN is covering the moonbats, libtards, smelly old hippies here but true to CPAN'S leftist agenda will not be covering the Gathering of Eagles.
Any Atlas readers who made to the Gathering of Eagles is encouraged to send me their thoughts, impressions, pictures etc and I will post. Family obligations kept me from attending.
Billed as a massive anit-war protest, I understand from FOX News, it is hardly massive. They were expecting 30,000 but it appears to be more like a few thousand [UPDATE: less than that]. Mama moonbat Sheehan is shrieking now. Why has the media made that bottom feeder Sheehan the maternal icon for fallen soldiers of the battle for Iraq?
Think about it. Name one other mother, quick! - off the top of your head, that has been given the publicity and the soapbox than that opportunistic zombie has.
FIGHT THE GREAT FIGHT!!
UPDATE: Jim has the video hat tip Larwyn
Cindy Sheehan: "Stop this BullSh*t!"
DC Antiwar Rally: Michael Berg Blames Bush for Son...
UPDATE: Go over to Flopping Aces here. He has great pics and reportage. Look at this pic, these are our folks! Hooha!
There's more .......much more: (via Jeff)
Some more good pic's from This Ain't
Hell
Now for the ugly side of this country:
(via Midnight
Blue)
Lifelike Pundits has some video up showing the Gathering and the idiots from the left.
Go over to Flopping Aces, he's got it all. What a post!
Lastly, if you want a good rundown of the Communist speeches go to Perish The Thought who did an excellent live blog of the idiots.
What a great day for our country. Not only did we show the lefties that yes, there are many here who do believe in this fight and the need to protect this country but we showed the world (via Fox at least).
Other's Blogging:
UPDATE: Karl tells me a group of local vets (West Virginia Vets for Victory) had a Home Guard operation in Charleston, WV today. Six of them guarded the veteran memorial on the capitol grounds until the anti-troop group finished their anti-war rally in the Capitol rotunda.
Thank you Karl.
UPDATE: Perish the thought livebloggged here. Great stuff.
And Bruce give his impression from the left coast, Spongebob Sheehan and the Eagles, click here.
UPDATE: Atlas reader Martin McBride attended and files this report for Atlas readers;
As I walked with my friends from the metro towards to Vietnam Memorial several blocks away, I was amazed at all the freaks here to protest the war and hurt our troops. They were everywhere, in all sorts of outrageous costumes piling out of buses, like hundreds of ants streaming in from the corner, they kept coming from everywhere.
Attitude kicked in and I was overwhelmed with a sense of duty to our Troops - I felt a duty to let them know that the troops don't appreciate what these peace freaks (and I DO mean FREAKS) were doing while they are trying to fight and kill the jihadists.
One of them handed me a protest sign on a stick, I took it and tore sign to pieces, in front of all of them, I waded through a sea of the nastiest most demeaning protestors you ever saw, and through it all I kept seeing more and more EAGLES gathering too, and Bikers, and Vets, and Patriots, and Families, and I knew the Eagles had Gathered to respond to the Soros-backed hippie freaks bent on getting more of our greatest patriots killed.
We found the "good guys" side and after spending over 2 hours with thousands of good decent patriots, I walked with my friends to a strategic spot to wait for the moonbat procession.
We tried to block the street, but the horseback cops pushed us back to the sidewalk. I must admit, the protestor's mass was huge, waves of the most anti-american crap you ever saw. What I'm about to say may surprise a few of you, but I couldn't help it, I felt it must be done. I ended up giving a few of them a little kick in the backside and when the moonbat turned and looked at me in surprise, I said, "That's from the Troops!" and I did it to about 6 of them.
In addition, a few clowns decided to walk by looking like terrorists, with their faces covered in the palestinian rag and just their eyes showing, I reached out and ripped their mask/towels off and told 'em, "No one who looks like a terrorist is walking near me" and finally, one protestor clown was walking with an orange jump suit and a black hood completely covered his head. I reached out and took that hood off and said, "This is for the Troops"
I'm horse because I yelled, "The troops hate protestors"
On the bright side, you should have seen all the great genuine Americans who showed up to protect the memorials and counter the FREAKS. It was amazing, my hand is sore from shaking hands and patting backs.
Was I wrong to give the protestors a little taste of my boot on their backside. Maybe, but I think the troops would be glad that somebody did it for them.
What a day. We did it, we didn't let the moonbats rule the day. We gathered and they knew not to mess with us or ours.
Martin adds;
It was amazing. You would have had a field day at this "Liberal Zoo". These people were "the mother of all protestors" - loud, arrogant, one guy had on a "Pinnocio half/donkey suit" bright green body suit, with huge enlarged buttocks checks, clashing red & white, and red & blue striped socks, a red striped shirt, a straw hat w/ donkey ears sticking straight up! and his face and bushy hair and eyebrows was painted white with black lipstick and mascara eyes - he was the wildest of the wild..."
And they had huge posters of photos of babies with deformed heads or bodies with the caption, "Bush's Fault". And I saw a dog with a shirt on that said, "Bombs kill puppies"...
There were hippies on stilts (female) and hippies with Bush masks with devil horns (I wanted to pull that one off, but couldn't get to him). Someone had one of those GIANT paper-mache heads of Bush with a tiny hat on...
It was a circus parade, a amazing assortment of twilight zone people, and I swear every single one of them carried a sign. Most were professional made (paid for by Soros and made by ANSWER Act Now To Stop War & Racism) It was a liberal Zoo.
UPDATE: Whoops. The video is not McBride's, the film maker is The Age of Hooper. McBride provided it, thought it best represented what he saw. Proper props, man. Credit where credit is due. Nice job, Charles
UPDATE: Go over to Maverick News Media for complete coverage;
UPDATE: Steve has pics from the protest are HERE and HERE.
What stunned me was the unusually large amount of Kufayeh that was being worn by the anti-war protesters. The Kufayeh is the scarf worn by the palestinian terrorists. Again, this told me that it was blatantly obvious that the terrorists are on the same side as the protesters. This also made me question if palestinian terrorist cash was used to help kick off this carnival of morally bankrupt losers. Seriously, I wouldn't doubt this for a second.
The Fifth Column is alive and well in America - and the liberals are the embodiment of the Fifth Column.
UPDATE: I thought this was weird too.:
The REAL Gathering of Eagles Count! What Gives With Fox News?
UPDATE: Atlas reader George files this terrific on the scene report;
I got back from DC this morning having endured a long Amtrak trip from Boston with delays going (snowstorm) and late departure. There were fifteen in our group from Maine, NH and MA. I would not have traded this day for anything. The cold, wind and mud that was around the Eagle's area. The spirit, comraderie, pride and sense of purpose these veterans showed just carried me through this day. It is largely unreported and I do not have a handle on the number of people there, believe when I tell you there were thousands. How many thousands I could not discern because when we arrived at 9:00am there were Eagles and their marshalls spread out all over the place. All the monuments had people stationed to prevent any vandalism. All I can say is when the peace march started I and a very large group of veterans and real patriots were along their route beside the Lincoln memorial leading to the Arlington Memorial Bridge. The sidewalk was packed and the wall above the sidewalk was two deep. I was told that when the peace folks got to the other side of the bridge they were greeted once again by more veterans and supporters.
The peace marchers put on a happy face and the anarchists were their usual angry stupid selves. What hit me was that these folks never had any real opposition. There were so many grown ups there, real men and women hardened through military service and lifes realities. I really think this shook all the peace at all costs, love not war, socialist's rule and all the other wackjobs attending. The peaceniks walked this gauntlet of really tough people mostly restrained and dignified until some would start a chant , such as clooless, USA-USA, and the best was F---U lasting for about a minute.
Here were all these veterans (especially from the Vietnamese and Korean war) finally being able to viscerally respond to those that have no respect or clue as to what the American military has done for them past and present. Really brainwashed and stupid people.
Enough said, what an inspiring day which I will eternally be grateful to have participated in. I had never served in the military but I got a sense of what brotherhood and love of country and flag means. Here's a few pics. God Bless America. Authored by George S.

Sheehan and her book are the reason I started a blog. I was so furious at her that I just had to rant. If that hag can get a book deal and get people to listen to her, why not me? Oh wait, Soros isn't backing me, I'm so forgetful...

Nah, don't worry about the kuffeyahs; its a fashion staement not a political one, I remember in my youth demonstrating in Paris and having long discussions about what was the correct "revolutionary gear" to be seen in. something figure hugging that would look good in the newsreels, or something with a little more flex just in case we decided to "ruck"! And the headgear was the most important since it led to instant recognition in among all those long-hairs.

friends:
there is no "anit-war" movement.
just t.v. cameras, with screens to fill, and pundits, who wish longingly that someone pay attention to their pronouncements.
my guess is, from looking at the pictures, that more flag waving patriots showed up in wash. d.c. than the unwashed.
apparently, to the msm, not much news in that.

Hey, Atlas ...
I'm sure you didn't mean it but the post is a bit confusing regarding the "UPDATE: Atlas reader Martin McBride attended and files this report for Atlas readers;" and then pairing it with my video from Age of Hooper: http://ageofhooper.blogspot.com
I know that the rest of the stuff is from McBride, but if you could attribute the video to me I'd appreciate it.
Thanks again! :)

Charles/AOH, 'tis a grand video. I see it's getting lots of attention on YouTube; hooray! Thanks for providing it.

Great wrap up...if you would like more commentary from on the ground with both live blogging during the event and a couple of recap posts after the event, I have several up.
I love that ANSWER is having to rely on CNN and La Monde for their false numbers of tens of thousands and even 50,000. They also brag of coverage on Al Jazerra...very telling indeed.

Here is what I took away from my day with the Eagles:
1) I believe the moonbats were sincerely surprised by our turn out. They didn't expect that. SURPRISE!!
2) Reference item 1 above. To the moonbats: GET USED TO IT!!!
3)In one weekend, I met some of the most astonding people I've ever met in my life! Military veterans, and those Americans of similar temperment, are some of the most extraordinary people you'll ever know. They say what they mean and mean what they say.
4) No memorial or monument was touched by the crazies. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
5) Shaking hands with a WW2 Sailor and a 82nd Airborne Trooper who jumped into Normandy was a life hilite! BOTH in their own WW2 uniforms. AWESOME!!
6) My Wife and I were standing 10 yards away from Angela Lashley when she sang her love song for her son, "So Brave". We were bawling like babies. What an absolutely astonishing woman!
7) The Gathering of Eagles proved loudly and clearly that the streets no longer belong exclusively to the crazy left. We were loud, proud, fearless, and resolute! This generation of American Warriors should know without any doubt that they will not be subject to the same ridicule and scorn that their Vietnam era brothers and sisters were made to tolerate. It is a new day! The silent majority is silent no more! We have found our voice, we have found our legs, and we will exercise our right to protect and defend that which is worthy of our efforts; Duty.....Honor....Country!
To sheehag and RedJane and their comrades: WE ARE HERE AND WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY! LEARN TO LOVE IT! STAND BY AT EVERY TURN FOR EAGLES!!
One of the best weekends I've ever had!
