It wasn't wine I had too much of
it was the double shot of my baby's love
Swinging Medallions "Double Shot of my Baby's Love"
There was a time that I adored this sweet day. Lifetimes ago. Thought it was all that and a bag of chips. Yeah, really. The concept was so dear. But like all the best laid plans (pun?) they turn a whiter shade of pale. But I am feeling in the mood to show some love. Yea yea feeling dah love.

And last, a favorite poem I keep locked in my heart, is released for Valentines day.
Pablo Neruda
Sonnet XVII (100 Love Sonnets, 1960)
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
`
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
`
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
`
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Happy Valentine's Day, Pamela.
Love,
Fran

Ahh... but shouldn't one express their love to their loved ones every day, not just one day of the year?

Pamela,
Happy Valentine's Day!
Schools are closed (where's global warming when you need it), kid is home, I'm working from home and I'm looking forward to listening to your interview with Mark Steyn.
Yours in Liberty!

Great clip. It takes seeing the whole movie to get the emotional response that the scene delivers, but just seeing the clip reminded me of how powerful an expression of love is conveyed there.

Pamela, Happy Valentine's Day! Like a few others here, I loved the sonnet. I may try to pass it off on my wife as my own (pulling a Joe Biden), but I am sure that since she was an English major I am in trouble.

That was lovely Pamela. I hope this day brings you more then just nostalgia. There's always the future.

Neruda was a HUUGE Commie Pink-o Socialist.
And like most people of this vein, he could pure write.
Surprised you even know about him, let alone post his work.
