Apparently the ratings for the debut of the show, Little Mosque on the Praire, went through the roof. Cwazy Canucks! How the hell did Harper slip in there? Thoses folks are nuts.
More than two million Canadians tuned in this week to "Little Mosque on the
Prairie," the new CBC comedy about a Muslim community in a rural town that has been the subject of
worldwide attention.
The figure - 2.1 million - is a huge one for a Canadian television show. "Corner Gas," CTV's big sitcom hit and one of the country's
highest-rated shows, routinely pulls in just over a million a week.
Kirstine Layfield, director of network programming for the public broadcaster, says it appears
"Little Mosque" won its time slot, even besting a brand-new episode of the
red-hot medical drama "House."
She says the CBC is "ecstatic and thrilled" by the numbers.
I wonder if the follow-up program will be a game show, something like "Heads Up", where the losers get beheaded on camera.
Or maybe "Burkas for dollars", where three or four women in burkhas and veils play a sort of dating game with an eligible terrorist, then at the end remove their veil and show the mad bomber what he's won.
Let's say every single muslim in the great white north watched the show. There is 600,000 of'em up here, that means that at LEAST 1.4 million dhimmi's also tuned in. Thought that number is probably substantially higher.
The show got a lot of press and I expect many watched the first episode out of curiosity. I did.
The acid test is how many will watch the second. It was hardly even funny, never mind the excruciating plot. What an embarrassment for Canada. I'm hoping this is a secret Harper plan to get a reason to shut down the CBC.
Twenty bucks says there's no second season unless they change the premise to "Revenge of the Infidels" - where regular people sneak into mosques and find weapons and military supplies (from Iran and Syria) and then give them a taste of their own medicine.
