Those pussies on Capital Hill warn against any action against Iran, while the axis of evil gets all nuked up. WTF?
How the 'axis' seeks the killer missile (Washington Times)
North Korea Iran are cooperating in developing long-range missiles, the deputy director of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency said yesterday. Army Brig. Gen. Patrick O'Reilly said during a speech that North Korea test fired a long-range Taepodong missile in July, and Iran is working on a space launcher that would help develop an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that could hit the U.S. "Not only North Korea, but Iran has shown some significant developments in their [own] missile systems," Gen. O'Reilly said in a speech to the George C. Marshall Institute. "They are working in concert with the North Koreans," he said. "They have made a claim that they are working towards developing a space launch capability, which also would give them an ICBM capability." The Pentagon believes Iran
has a "new intermediate-range ballistic missile or space launch vehicle [SLV] in development," a Missile Defense Agency briefing slide stated.
Iran and Orbital Nukes The Strategy Page
January 29, 2007: Iran has converted one of its largest ballistic missiles, a 30 ton Shahab 3, into a satellite launcher. It's possible, with modern lightweight electronics, to build a 500 pound reconnaissance satellite, that the Shahab could lift into low earth orbit. More worrisome is the fact that, with a satellite that size, you can also put a nuclear warhead in orbit, and have it descend to anywhere on the planet. Such weapons, called FOBS (Fractional Orbital Bombardment System) were developed by the Soviet Union in the 1960s. A few of these FOBS carrying missiles were built and put into service, but no one was eager to have nuclear weapons in orbit. It was considered cheaper and safer to just use conventional ICBMs. Russia dismantled its FOBS missiles in the 1980s. But there's nothing to prevent Iran from building some FOBS missiles, as a way to threaten the United States with nuclear attack. North Korea could also build FOBS, because most of Irans long range ballistic missile comes from North Korea.
