Democrats to America: Screw you too

The Democrats, the party of lies, are going back on their word (their what?) They are going back on their promise of bipartisan and unity (which is what the country really voted for.) Abandoning their campaign pledges to restore bipartisanship and openness, the Democrats will be running true to form and go the vicious route. It's New Year's, the clock just struck midnight, and they've ripped the mask of decency off.  They couldn't wear it for even one minute of their term.
I,  for one,  am glad. First because it shows America what the left really is. Secondly, and more importantly, it teaches those schmucky nice guy  Republicans how to get things done and not squander 12 years of unprecedented election wins (WH,  House, and Senate) playing nice and trying to get along. Republican lawmakers must learn the hard way. Let's hope the stupid party is taking notes on how the vicious party rams their agenda down America's throat. If the last 12 years of the tyranny of the minority party taught the Republicans anything, surely it must have been OBSTRUCT, OBSTRUCT, OBSTRUCT. Immigration reform? OBSTRUCT.? Private  social security accounts? OBSTRUCT. Bolton? OBSTRUCT. Blah blah blah.

Demcrats To Start Without GOP Input Washington Post

As they prepare to take control of Congress this week and face up to campaign pledges to restore bipartisanship and openness, Democrats are planning to largely sideline Republicans from the first burst of lawmaking.

House Democrats intend to pass a raft of popular measures as part of their well-publicized plan for the first 100 hours. They include tightening ethics rules for lawmakers, raising the minimum wage, allowing more research on stem cells and cutting interest rates on student loans.

This is the "change' that the Democrats have promised?
Ethics rules for lawmakers???? Ethics reform... Throw Conyers out - aides as personal servants Chanelling Alan Hevesi.
Minimum wage???? Racist in origin and still racist here. The left's obsession with tinkering with the economy is dangerous, a dangerous obsession indeedy.
Stem cell???? More junk science on the embryonic stem cell hustle.

But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.

Victories for European socialism.

Nancy Pelosi, the Californian who will become House speaker, and Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, who will become majority leader, finalized the strategy over the holiday recess in a flurry of conference calls and meetings with other party leaders. A few Democrats, worried that the party would be criticized for reneging on an important pledge, argued unsuccessfully that they should grant the Republicans greater latitude when the Congress convenes on Thursday.

[...]

Those same Democrats, who campaigned on a pledge of more openness in government, will kick off the new Congress with a closed meeting of all senators in the Capitol. Manley said the point of the meeting is to figure out ways both parties can work together.............More here

Nothing in their legislative agenda addresses the real threats, the pressing issues that Americans face.

Just now, Atlas reader Jon was just watching "Nightline" giving San Fran Nan Pelosi the standard softball treatment, when she came off with this little gem (paraphrasing):

Q) Isn't it cutting and running to leave the battlefield when the enemy is still fighting?

A) No.  That the only reason al Quada is in Iraq is that the U.S. military is there; that once we leave, they'll leave too.

Now that is scarier than the effects of the botox on her face. Mark Steyn in today's NY Sun notes the following;

On the other hand, one should never underestimate the seductiveness of complacency. If you happened to catch John Edwards, the hair-today-gone-tomorrow prettyboy of the 2004 campaign, re-emerging in the artfully positioned debris of New Orleans last week, it was hard not to be impressed: an empty suit had somehow managed to get emptier. He’s running for President on five big priorities — “guaranteeing health care,” “leading the fight against global warming,” “strengthening our middle class and ending the shame of poverty,” and by then my fingers were too comatose to write down the fifth theme but, if memory serves, it was guaranteeing to lead the fight to strengthen ending the shame of platitudinous campaign rhetoric.

Listening to Edwards you get no sense that this man is in any way engaged with the times. He’s not alone, of course. It’s been striking to read accounts of the incoming House leadership (of both parties) unable to tell the difference between Sunni and Shia or name a single book they’ve read on the present conflict. We are in an era of fast-moving demographic and technological transformation, and lavishly remunerated national legislators (with huge numbers of staff to do all the research) have minimal curiosity about it.

UPDATE Another FU.  More on the new fascism in America. This from a commenter at the Puff Ho (!) here via Jon;

Here's a luscious tidbit that Auntie Nancy wants to ram down your throat. Forget about grass roots lobbying or encouraging members of your organization to call or email your representatives in Congress. Doing so might cause an IRS audit or some government agents breaking down the door to your offices and confiscating your computers.

______________________________________________

Some controversial features of the bill:

# It makes changes to the legal definition of "grassroots lobbying" and requires any organization that encourages 500 or more members of the general public to contact their elected representatives to file a report with detailed information about their organization to the government on a quarterly basis.

# Such report (above) would require, among other things, the detailing of the organization's expenditures, the issues focused on and the members of Congress and other federal officials who are targeted. A separate report must address each policy issue the group is advocating.

Causing additional heartburn among the critics is a broad exemption they say is wholly unfair and unbalanced. Significantly, the reporting requirement spelled out above would not apply to messages targeted at an organization's members, employees, officers or shareholders. In effect, this would let most corporations, trade associations and unions off the reporting hook.

William J. Olson, the co-counsel for the Free Speech Coalition, summarized his impression of how the unfairness would operate:

"The Public Citizen/Pelosi bill would allow corporations, unions and even foreign interests to spend literally hundreds of millions of dollars mobilizing their shareholders, officers, employees and members, yet hide those expenditures," Olson opined.

"On the flipside, their bill would require real citizen associations to essentially obtain Congress's consent to communicate about important policy matters that impact on them. It's not just the imbalance that is wrong; it's a frontal attack on the First Amendment and political speech," Olson concluded.

'once we leave, they'll leave too.'~ pelosi

They'll have a New destination- Israel. Europe. The US.

And pelosi will be busy criminalizing profiling.

And conyers will be busy criminalizing free speech (H.Res 288).

And kucinich will be busy cutting spending for the military.

And rangel will be busy pushing racism.

Does anyone wonder why it feels like some very Bad years ahead?

Pam,

There was never going to be any "Open" Democracy in the House. Under Tip O'Neill, there was the "Bloody" Indiana 8th. Now Pelosi plans to "Bloody" Florida 13. Pelosi might not seat Rep. Buchanan even though he won 3 re-counts by 374 votes. Here is the history:
http://valley-of-the-shadow.blogspot.com/2006/12/palm-trees-for-bloody-8th.html

Democrats don't believe in democracy. That is why I left them back in 1992. They tried to shut down "The Path to 9/11". They will work in the House to censor Blogs and Talk Radio. Darkness at Noon is coming and it wears a Democratic banner.

Wondering if those moderate voters who jumped ship to vote for The Evil Party are now feeling kinda stupid for having been so easily duped.

Well, the idiots are now running the asylum. THey have two years to grandly screw everything up beyond belief, which should end up providing the greatest electoral theater in modern times during 2008.

Hate to intrude with facts and reality again, but for 12 years, there WAS no "bipartisanship" or "comity" in the House.

For 12 years, almost all Dem amendments and Dem-sponsored legislation never even made it out of committee, let alone to the floor for a vote. For 12 years, bills and laws were rammed down the throats of Dems in late-night sessions, bills were kept in secret until minutes before the votes, votes were kept open until GOP bruisers muscled out YES votes from the Congress, for 12 years Dems lived and tried to work under oppression and fear and lockout.

What goes around, comes around. After Pence, Boehner, and others went around shooting their mouths off last month about how they were going to do all they could to obstruct and delay this Congress so that it would be as much a waste as theirs, what did you babies expect?

Repeat after me:
DEMS KICKED OUR ASSES IN 2006.

WE LOST BIG.

E HAVE NO COMMITTEES, NO CHAIRMANSHIPS, NO AGENDA, NO POWER.

THE PEOPLE WANTED IT THAT WAY.

WE ARE IN TROUBLE IN 2008.

WE MAY LOSE EVEN MORE SEATS IN 2008.

THE PEOPLE HATE WHAT WE STAND FOR.

Once you accept these facts, maybe you will accept the fact that you will need to come to us, not we to you.

What do you mean the Dems aren't going to be bipartisan? They just said a few good words about Pres Ford didn't they?

After all, that should be good enough to satisfy anyone in the world who has doubts about their sincerity.

Deep in their size 2 hearts they want to be bipartisan, but that evil Rove mind control ray is just too strong to overcome!

We've gotta give 'em a break, it's their culture after all, who are we to judge??

What Trolls like Wellstone don't understand, is that there was no "comity" or "Bi-partisanship" when the Dems ran the House the last time. And this is well documented in the book: The Ambition and the Power by John Barry. Newt's rise was not in a vacuum. Because of the "Bloody Eighth", he was brought into the leadership. People like "Wellstone" (who was a descent man, not like the Troll here), don't believe in the Two Party system. They would rather a dictatorship of Democrats then support any Republican.

Does anyone here really believe that the Demonrats are going to protect us from another 9/11? What about protecting a true ally like Israel? BWA BWAHA BWAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, r-i-g-h-t...

Wellstone? I understand what you say:

"DEMS KICKED OUR ASSES IN 2006.
WE LOST BIG.
(W)E HAVE NO COMMITTEES, NO CHAIRMANSHIPS, NO AGENDA, NO POWER.
THE PEOPLE WANTED IT THAT WAY.
WE ARE IN TROUBLE IN 2008.
WE MAY LOSE EVEN MORE SEATS IN 2008.
THE PEOPLE HATE WHAT WE STAND FOR."

If you mean 'kicked our a$$es means winning more votes, ok. I wouldn't say the Republicans lost big... in fact they lost by a smaller margin than the Democrats did in 2004. The main difference is that the Republicans didn't whine and complain and invent conspiracy theories about how the Dems were using Halliburton-reverse-engineered spaceships to cause some kind of mass hypnotism that caused the electorate to pull the lever for the Dems. No, the Republicans lost fair and square. They had a cheerleading section from the MSM that, over the course of 6 years, managed to demagogue against Bush and make otherwise normal people believe he was responsible for elderly people dying of heat exhaustion in France, black people being sacrificed to the Rove weather machine in New Orleans, and Americans being at risk for our war in Iraq. Because, as it was told to us for the last few years, whenever you kill an enemy in the middle east, another ten spring up to take his place. Just like they did in Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan and Fascist Italy. This is why the axis powers continue to fight a very successful guerrilla war against us throughout the world, with these freedom fighters battling against the US forces in Germany and Japan to this very day.

Well headstone, watch what you wish for. When the right comes after you, they'll be locked and loaded.

Payback is hell, innit?

Be thankful the Dems have no one with cojones, or there would be Impeachment hearings starting on Day One, and Rummy would be in the dock for crimes against humanity. Instead, what we are left with is Business As

Usual, with a different set of deep pockets getting lined.

loonbub, it won't be business as usual. It will be Dems giving our country away to the Jihadists one piece at a time. With the likes of wellstone cheering it on.

It doesn't take cojones to start Impeachment hearings or accuse Rumsfeld with war crimes, it takes cojones to work on solving problems.

L-bud -"Be thankful the Dems have no one with cojones,"

We should be thankful for this?

These are the folks that will be trying to protect our country for the next 2 years.

Will they be walking around congress with their tally-whackers tucked up tight and taped into place?

I said it before, and l-bud pulled a word that I used prior, you have it correct, my friend (Payback is hell, innit?).
But with sanfrannan and the no Kay Jones party, it's still, Scary Shit, innit?
