UN OIL-FOR-FOOD CHIEF INDICTED FOR TAKING SADDAM'S CASH BRIBES oink, oink
Benon Sevan, head of the oil for food program, was indicted in a NY court today. Another slap at Kofi Annan's corrupt tenure at the UN. POWER WITHOUT LAW. Expect the usual mainstream media silence on UN high crimes. They literally get away with murder and America foots the bill (at least 25% of it)

Federal Court Indicts U.N. Official for Taking Bribes From Saddam
"Former U.N. Oil-for-Food chief Benon Sevan has been indicted in New York federal court for allegedly taking bribes under the program from Saddam Hussein's regime, sources told FOX News on Tuesday," Fox reports.
The charges came over a year after former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker completed an investigation for the United Nations into the massively corrupted Oil-for-Food program that operated in Saddam's Iraq between 1996 and 2003.
Sources said the charges were based on $140,000 Sevan allegedly received in the form of oil voucher payments used in the $60 billion program run by the U.N. under former Secretary-General Kofi Annan. The money was allegedly used to pay off overdue credit cards and bills. Sevan, through his lawyers, has denied that any funds were obtained illegally.
The career diplomat is thought to be currently living in Cyprus. That nation's extradition treaty with the U.S. does not cover financial crimes, so it is unclear as to what impact the charges would have on Sevan.
What does Kofi Annan have to say about this? As the Financial Times noted on February 11, 2004:
Kofi Annan, UN secretary-general, has publicly defended Mr Sevan and challenged his accusers to provide evidence for allegations.

It's about bloody time someone in charge of that mess got indicted.
Next on the grand jury's list should be Kofi Annan's son and the ol' man himself.
These Third World crooked bastards need to fry.
