Grenades in the Mall: "VIOLENT JIHAD"

Feds Arrest Man Who Planned to Detonate Grenades in Illinois Shopping Mall FOX News

CHICAGO —  A man was arrested Friday by federal agents on charges of planning to set off hand grenades in garbage cans at a shopping mall.

Derrick Shareef, 22, of Rockford, was arrested when he met with an undercover agent in a parking lot to trade a set of stereo speakers for four hand grenades and a handgun.

Federal officials said he planned to set off four hand grenades in garbage cans at the CherryVale shopping mall in Rockford, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago.

Federal officials said that in September, Shareef became acquainted with a witness who was cooperating with the FBI and confided to him that he wanted to commit acts of "violent jihad," as well as other crimes, to obtain funds to further his goals.

From then on, Shareef's activities and movements were under constant surveillance and "there was no imminent risk to the public," Robert Grant, special agent-in-charge of the Chicago Office of the FBI, said in a statement.

"[T]he courthouse in DeKalb where I be going every month …You go in there and you clock the first three [guards] at the door that they got, and you up in there, you know what I'm saying…I just want to smoke a judge," the complaint quoted Shareef as saying.

The informant then asked Shareef when he wanted to stage the attack. "What do you think? I like the holiday season," the complaint quotes him as saying.

On Nov. 30, Shareef and the informant met to discuss an attack, authorities allege. During that meeting, the informant suggested to Shareef that he might "hit the mall," the complaint states.

"I mean, alright, we gotta look at it this way, we want to disrupt Christmas," the informant told Shareef.

"Oh hell yeah, the mall is where it's at," the complaint quotes Shareef as responding.

The informant then asked Shareef if he needed hand grenades.

"You go in there and toss a grenade, and no one's gonna know who did it," the informant said.

"No one's gonna be expecting no [expletive] like that," the complaint quotes Shareef as responding.

Shareef had also made a videotaped statement about his intentions, the FBI said. He also discussed attacking synagogues and Jewish people, according to the complaint.

"I probably would have eventually ended up just stabbing the [expletive] outta some Jews or something," the complaint quotes him as saying.

Shareef told the snitch that he sought "to disrupt Christmas," adding that, "I swear by Allah man, I'm down for it too, I'm down for the cause, I'm down to live for the cause and die for the cause, man." 

The document does not further describe the supposed cause of Shareef, who was named today in a federal felony complaint. 

Shareef is quoted telling the FBI source, "I probably would have eventually ended up stabbing the shit outta some Jews or something.  Just stabbing them niggers with a steak knife...Because during that war with Hezbollah, man, I had already started to look at synagogues out here...I was doing MapQuest." 

In advance of a planned attack on a Rockford mall, Shareef prepared a martyr's videotape in which he let the "enemies of Islam" know that "the time for jihad is now." 

He added, "This is a warning to those who disbelieve, that we are here for you, and I am ready to give my life...May Allah protect me on this mission we conduct."''

Didn't this guy get CAIR's memo about Islam being "the religion of peace!?" Gee whiz. With all of CAIR's resources and certainly their ongoing gab-fests with the MSM, you'd think every Muslim in America would get the message.

Oh well. Maybe CAIR needs to create some new TV ads, you know, the "... and I am an American Muslim!" ones. The ones with the normal-lookig folks (sans the suicide belts - thus far, anyway).

i cannot make it any clearer, than to say, muslims in this country have no desire to "become" american, as have other groups who have immigrated here. as muslims everywhere in the world, they seek only to dominate, not to accomodate, not to integrate. when they have achieved sufficient number, if allowed to stay, increase and continue to come here, the violence will start here as everywhere else in the world where they are found.

this is what these outbreaks of violence mean. they are only portents of what will happen here, as it is happening now in europe and england.

we must rid them from our country.

Hmmmmmm... I wish someone in the government had the cajones to classify Islam as a fascist ideology, just like Naziism or Communism, because that's EXACTLY what Islam is.

I am trying to find some more writings of some of the Founding Fathers' comments on Islam. Robert Spencer included some of them in "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" and what Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and others had to say about Islam was not flattering in the least about Mohammedans and Islam. Sir Winston Churchill had some very insightful comments, too.

i suggest you acquire "the river war" by winston churchill.

it is an account of the british army's campaign up the nile river to retake control of the upper nile, khartoum and the sudan from the control of a "popular" muslim insurrection. the british general gordon, and an egyptian garrison had earlier fallen under the knife of islam, when their seige defense had fallen to a clever night attack.

it is a good story, well written.

churchill, as you note, was an astute observer, and he has many relevant things to say about popular islamic uprisings.
