Lieberman's Brilliant Mastermind
Bruce Springsteen's "The Rising" is playing - Lieberman declares his "Declaration of Independence"
Dan Gertsein - Lieberman's campaign mastermind gives Atlas the exclusive on the brilliant strategy that made this historic win possible - stealing a Democrat victory from this very blue state.
Deputy Communications Director Dan Gerstein -- Long-term communications strategy and planning; emphasis on policy.
UPDATE: Latest results show the Dems grabbed the house. I was wrong. Score one for the Jihad media and Islamists the world over. It seems America is destined to learn the hard way. Thought the bloody reality of the Global Jihad was more powerful than leftist propaganda. Like I said, I was wrong.

It's a fucked up night.
But I'm happy for Joe Lieberman. He looks very happy in that photo, and rightly so, and you're right, what he did is historic.
And Atlas, don't sweat it because you're right about two things, the Jihad Media is way too hypnotic right now and America is going to have to learn the hard way.

I wouldn't beat yourself over this call, Atlas. Something I'm gleefully looking forward to with Democrat control of the House.
This means that Charlie Rangle (D.NY) will now Head the powerful Ways and Means Committee. As late as last week he was calling for reinstating the Military Draft. I'm giving him all my support to do just that.
Imagine, all the anti-war lefty's that pushed so hard for Democrat Control of Congress getting drafted to serve because a Democrat got his Draft Proposal put through.

Now that the Dems have taken the House, we are beginning to hear calls for Rumsfeld’s resignation. And not from the left, but from the right! I would have thought they would have had the decency to wait until morning, but there is blood in the water. At some point, the Republicans will figure out that eating their young is a strategic blunder. First Newt Gingrich, then Trent Lott, and now Rumsfeld is presented as the latest offering. Do they actually think that caving into media pressure will help them win friends and influence Democrats? Has it ever happened before? The Democrats know how to consolidate and exploit victories because they are naturally inclined to the kind of groupism that mandates for its members rigid adherence and regular class attendance. (If in doubt, look at what they did to Lieberman; they did not withdraw from him to garner GOP support, but to punish him for his refusal to mindlessly repeat anti-war talking points). The GOP wins and the winners tend to leave the field of battle, each retiring to his own home.
This loss was simply the result of the GOP’s lack of moral coherence. I vote for them, and will again, but I don’t fool myself; I vote GOP merely to stave off tyranny, not to vanquish it.

Well, something tells me the United States is about to find out what it's like having Democrats run the country. In two years, who knows, their track record could cause the party to implode. Time to put up or shut up for Pelosi & Co.

One other thing: Using this election as a benchmark, maybe the next time Republicans are in charge they'll answer their base. Otherwise, they'll answer TO it, like they did yesterday. If they'd passed a damned immigration bill that stopped that mess, along with putting enough troops in Iraq to scare the living shit out of the idiots over there (or kill them), things might have been different. They could pull the troops out of South Korea, Germany, Japan, everywhere else in the world that doesn't want us there if they need more soldiers. We have plenty, just badly or uselessly deployed. All in all, things COULDN'T have turned out much worse, so all the Republican tip-toeing around the job America wanted done did them in. As it should have. Lessons learned, hopefully. Otherwise, someone will hold you to account.

To say that I am disappointed would be to make the biggest understatement of the century...I agree with all of the previous posters with whom I have sweated out the past months to come to this point...we are destined to learn the hard way and I am sure the learning is going to be swift and sharp...we that have held the flag know what to expect and those that wanted this abortion to happen don't...but they will.
Stock up on ammo guys and gals it is going to get bumpy.

It sounds as if most of the Democrats elected last night are more conservative than the Nancy Pelosis, John Kerrys, Daily Koses of the far left.
Lew - interest point about the draft. See finge leftists being drafted into military service would be a hoot! Although I am against a draft on philosophical principals.
IS IT 2008 YET?

Oops! Spelling error ... principals should be principles. :-o

2008 yet?
OMG - here in Iowa, 2008 starts in 6 months as the parade of wanna-be presidents begins in anticipation of the Jan 2008 caucus. Not that the Iowa GOP will have any influence. For the third time in three attempts, our gubernatorial candidate got TROUNCED! The Iowa GOP apparatus is a shambles. I don't want it to be 2008 or 2010...or tomorrow for that matter :-(

Pam: Kind of ironic that you went to the headquarters of a former Democrat for a victory pary instead of a Republican headquarters. Of course, there IS no Republican headquarters within driving distance of your house holding any sort of victory party. Hmm. Something needs to be done to bring New York back to a two-party state. The same goes for Illinois.

I was wrong too.. I was sure Santorum was going to win in Chester County, PA - historically a republican stronghold, until the last 6-8 years or so.....
I worked inside a polling place that had 803 registered voters, 568 turned out (71%).
Some interesting facts
STRAIGHT PARTY
DEMOCRATIC - 134 56.30%
REPUBLICAN - 104 43.70%
UNITED STATES SENATOR
BOB CASEY, Jr 328 58.16%
RICK SANTORUM 235 41.67%
How shocked am I? I was keeping track of our "Super Voters" - the ones guareenteed to vote for Santorum, there were 350 of them, and about 240 showed up.. I was confident Rick would win because there were about another 70 Republicans who voted, but weren't considered "Super" - even though 90% of then were solid regular voters...
Obviously, many Republicans didn't want him... the 5th Column drumbeat was all they heard..
The Chester County CUMULATIVE Results are:
REGISTERED VOTERS - 306,400
BALLOTS CAST - 172,126
VOTER TURNOUT - 56.18%
STRAIGHT PARTY
DEMOCRATIC 38,744 52.46%
REPUBLICAN 34,616 46.87%
UNITED STATES SENATOR
BOB CASEY, JR. 93,756 54.92%
RICK SANTORUM 76,594 44.87%
What can we say? We got our ass kicked. Only via "the hard way" will the rest of America snap out of the trance their under... sucks.
