Hawks Exit, Enter Pantywaist Brigade
AN EXODUS OF HAWKS FOLLOWS RUMSFELD FROM THE PENTAGON NY Sun
Overhaul of War Strategy Speeds Up,
Regional ‘Peace Conference’ Planned
Peace conference? Ugh. How can you negotiate peace in a war that has not yet been won? In a word? Impossible. This appeasement is perceived as weakness and capitulation by the aggressor.
President Bush’s overhaul of his war strategy is accelerating, as more senior officials are leaving the Pentagon and the administration is signaling its readiness to open direct negotiations with Iran regarding Iraq and to plan a regional “peace conference.”
At the Pentagon, many senior hawks are following Defense Secretary Rumsfeld into the private sector. Among those leaving is the assistant secretary of defense for international security, Peter Rodman, who will take up a post at the Brookings Institution.
Two administration officials said yesterday that the undersecretary of defense for intelligence, Stephen Cambone, was also looking to leave the Pentagon. Mr. Cambone is likely to face a subpoena from congressional Democrats looking to investigate his role in the drafting of interrogation policies.
A subpoena from the Dhimmis for "drafting interrogation policies.?" I love how the Dhimmicrats go all soft and fuzzy when it comes to murdering savages. These dangerous spineless, gutless wonders are driving the bus.
In Washington yesterday, the State Department’s coordinator for Iraq,Ambassador David Satterfield, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that America was looking at the timing for a dialogue with Iran and was prepared in principle to re-enter such negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
In the Middle East this week, Assistant Secretary of State David Welch is sounding out Arab leaders about a regional peace conference, tentatively scheduled for November 30 in Amman, Jordan, to entice Israel and the Palestinian Arabs to begin negotiating a settlement to their conflict.
OMG! Settle their conflict? When every Jew is dead and off that land the conflict will be settled. Cue Twilight Zone muzak. Islamists Are Not Driven By Israel-Palestinian Problem
The diplomatic maneuvering and personnel exodus undercut recent remarks from Mr. Bush and Secretary of State Rice. On her plane to Hanoi on Tuesday, Ms. Rice said, “I think the question is, is there anything about Iranian behavior that suggests that they are prepared to contribute to stability in Iraq. And I have to say that at this point I don’t see it.”
Mr. Satterfield yesterday, however, said, “We are prepared in principle to discuss Iranian activities in Iraq. The timing of such a direct dialogue is one we still have under reviews.”
Be prepared to lay down your neck, putz.
Both co-chairmen of the Iraq Study Group, the panel charged with suggesting new war policy, met in September with Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations,Javad Zarif. The Republican cochairman of the study group,James Baker, in October told several press outlets that he believed in “talking to your enemies.”
Talking to your enemies? And what is your enemy doing while you are talking to him?
The summit is contingent on the new Palestinian Authority and whether it recognizes Israel’s right to exist, agrees to prior agreements, and renounces terrorism. In exchange, America would drop bank sanctions that have starved the authority of cash for the last 10 months.
Great. Back to terror funding our enemy.Do they really believe by feeding the crocodile, they won't get eaten?
While those have been the Israeli and American demands of the Palestinian Arabs since Hamas won legislative elections in January, two diplomatic sources yesterday who requested anonymity said the State Department would be willing to accept a government that included some Hamas members if a majority of the cabinet agreed to the terms laid out in the 2003 road map document signed by both sides as well as America, Europe, Russia and the United Nations.
Accepting Hamas? Perhaps Hamas will blow up State. Someone has to.
“We are looking at creative ways to get around this,” one diplomat said. “I would not call this ‘Hamas lite,’ but if we could get a government of negotiators instead of terrorists we’d take it.”
First, kill all the diplomats (before they get us killed.)

Pam, if only you could have sat in on the planning for 9/11, huh? You'd have been able to suggest "State" as a target.
"First, kill all the diplomats (before they get us killed.)"
You first, Pam. Go out and kill a diplomat as an example to to the other potential diplomat-killers out there. You can use the weapon of your choice, but I seem to remember the Bulgarians used a poison-tipped umbrella for such missions.

Vince: Since i'm neither a diplomat nor work in "State" I guess I should be grateful that Pam hasn't threatened my existence.
But diplomats and the people who work in "State" would certainly consider Pam's comments to be threats against their existence.
It's quite disturbing that Pam would make such threatening comments, considering the very recent arrest of a Michelle Malkin/Ann Coulter fan for sending threatening powder-filled letters to various media personalities and politicians, including Keith Olbermann and the new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Atlas Shuddered.
Pam, I honestly feel sorry for people like you. It must be a miserable life for people such as Coulter, Malkin, Limbaugh, Hannity and yourself to live your daily lives with such hatred in your hearts and your souls. I'll never understand the dark place from whence the views of people such as you eminate, but I will pray for God to have mercy on your souls.
To suggest, even in misguided jest, that diplomats should be murdered is wrecklessness at its most dangerous, especially in today's vitriolic atmosphere. Has it never occurred to you that some of the readers you attempt to stir up with your hate-filled rhetoric might not understand which line shouldn't be crossed? I'll never understand the sense of humor among those who have stolen the "conservative" banner.
Surely, Barry Goldwater must be spinning in his grave.
And I'll never understand this insane concept that hating and attempting to dominate those of other cultures rather than trying to understand and respect one another is in anyone's long-term benefit. Sometimes I wonder if the major difference between people like you and the terrorists isn't simply the fact that the terrorists are willing to give up their lives for their misguided beliefs while you purveyors of radical right propoganda hide behind your keyboards.
But then, I suppose that's why so many of those who scream the loudest in favor of war and question the patriotism of those who oppose it (such as WWII bomber pilot, Silver Star and Distinguish Flying Cross winner George McGovern, and another Silver Star winner who lost three limbs in combat, Max Cleland) themselves went to such great lengths to avoid military service themselves (the boil on Rush Limbaugh's butt and Dick Cheney's numerous deferences only two of dozens of examples).

Infidel, you are exquisitely typical of the idealogues who have hijacked the "conservative" label in this country. You obviously have the personality of the authoritarian follower: someone with a psychological and emotional need to follow a strong authority figure who can provide you with a sense of moral clarity and a feeling of individual power.
People like you and Pam are completely devoted to the authority and power of the so-called "conservative" movement. The result of this mass devotion is to override conscience and rob followers such as the two of you of any intellectual or moral limits on what you might do or how far you might go to justify and defend the movement.
You are part of a movement dedicated to the destruction of enemies wherever they may be found. Your foreign policy is driven not by ideas, but by the singular goal of destroying and killing "the enemy" or potential enemies. Your ideal world is a permanent state of war with a continuous stream of enemies to conquer.
People such as you crave more wars, more death and violence in the Middle East, the watering down or elimination of restraints on the power of the President, more spying, less freedom of the press, even the elimination of habeas corpus.
As a result, you and others in the movement see an enemy in everyone who disagrees with you or who threatens the power of the movement. Lurking behind every door is an enemy: terrorists, communists, "secular progressives," liberals, illegal immigrants, etc., etc., etc. The list goes on and on. Even Republicans you don't see as "loyal" feel the wrath of your poison. Those who disagree are labeled as liars, traitors or even terrorist sympathizers. Rapid attacks on those you see as "enemies" of the movement excite you. Hatred is an orgasm for people such as you.
You claim to be happy, but would you be happy without being part of your lynch mob?
I will pray for you, my friend.

I would suggest you learn who Morris Dees is and what he has done in the past ... and quick. If not you are leading yourself down the same path as those that learned a harsh leason from Mr. Dees.
Those that encourage domestic terrorism can be held accountable as well as those that get excited by that encouragement and actually carry it out.
Be careful not to suggest people send white powder to liberals ... because you just might be held accountable for when someone actually does it.

Most death threats are made and murders are committed in the "emotional" heat of the moment.
I don't think "emotion" is a viable defense in a court of law.

I personally don't care what you ride (my ass is too big to ride my Honda wish it were a Harley) but I do care that a lot of naive folks believe the crap that comes out of the
mouths of Pam and Sean and Rush etc. I also believe that those that haven't served in the military should NOT be pushing us into combat when they themselves avoided it at all costs.
Yeah I hate! I hate that Bush could avoid going to Viet Nam and that "Shooter" Cheney and Rush and all of the other chickenhawks got their pansy deferments. I hate how they continue to spew lies and bull. And now "W"
is finally going to Viet Nam, as the worst President in the history of the United States of America.
Posted by: harlyridr | Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 07:09 PM
I do serve Harly, and the only reason Kerry "served" was because his deferment was denied, so he accepted a commission instead of the draft. Then, he doctored up his OWN citations, or through medics instead of actual doctors, to get the requisite 3 purple hearts to earn him a trip home. One was for injuries from his own grenade in a rice bunker. He left his fellow swift boaters in the water and turned tail until the firing subsided. Then, he met with the V.C. in Paris in uniform unauthorized to throw his brothers in arms (YOU) under the bus, not sure if that was before or after throwing his medals (or ribbons, he doesn't know the difference) over the wall of the White House lawn.
Bush served in the Guard, and preloaded his final year early in that year so that he could go back to school. Not a draft dodger like Clinton. To smear his reputable service is to dishonor all who do and have served in the Guard or Reserves. By far not the worst President, unless in the hands of history revisionist, but not in the hands of current events revisionists.
I respect your service, but after all you've seen and experienced, and knowledge of the flip side of the coin, I can't understand why you can maintain that position. It's not the position of the current military for our Commander in Chief, overwhelmingly.

Harlyridr said: "I also believe that those that haven't served in the military should NOT be pushing us into combat when they themselves avoided it at all costs."
Last I checked the United States was not governed by a military junta. The U.S. Military is SUBSERVIENT to civilians whether or not they have served in the military.
We could change the Constitution and require military service as a prerequisite for the Presidency. We could reinstate the draft as Charlie Rangel wants to do --- you know the ole' egalitarian argument. And, to be entirely equal there would be no waiver for conscientious objection. How about that?

I've been to the hospitals (I'm in the AMEDD), I've been on funeral detail, and I've been a CNO. The overwhelming sentiment is positive, as also seen by higher recruitment and reenlistment/retention rates. Sorry, but you're wrong. I also think you need to temper your opinion against Bush to reflect the true nature and history of Kerry, Clinton, and others.
