Another reason all Americans must get to the polls on Tuesday - JOHN BOLTON. For those of you that can't get excited by the choice both parties provide (although I can't think of a bigger contrast between the two parties, a culture of life vs a culture of death - and no, I am not talking about abortion.)
The Dhimmicrats will not confirm Bolton. They live in fear of the forthright, they live in fear of those that can distinguish between good and evil, right and wrong, terrorist and innocent civilian. When Victor Davis Hanson recently said here, "there's something wrong in America, and in the
West in general, that we just don't have the ability to identify evil from good," he was talking about the Democrats. The Bolton confirmation is exemplar of this failing.
Not sure if you guys caught Chavez goingidown in his latest power grab but he did not get his seat on the security council. Tip of the old hat to John Bolton, yet again.
U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said Thursday that Venezuela defeated itself in the race for a seat on the U.N. Security Council with President Hugo Chavez's "unconscionable" attack on U.S. President George W. Bush at the General Assembly.
"It was an act of 'podiacide,'" otherwise known as shooting yourself in the foot, Bolton told reporters.
This man is funny.
The race for the council seat became highly political because the United States supported Guatemala over leftist Venezuela, which is led by the fiercely anti-American Chavez, who referred to Bush as "the devil" in his speech in September to the General Assembly ministerial meeting.
The Venezuelan and Guatemalan foreign ministers agreed to withdraw late Wednesday - after neither country could muster the two-thirds majority needed to win the seat - and support Panama as a consensus candidate.
The 34 Latin American and Caribbean nations met Wednesday to endorse Panama.
Fausta has more on Venezuela in her excellent post here;
Threats . . .
Rafael Ramirez, the government minister and head of PDVSA (the Venezuelan oil monopoly that owns CITGO in the USA) gave a speech last week where he specifically threated with firing from their jobs, physical force and "total anihilation" for those PDVSA employees who don't reciprocate Hugo's love of his people and who don't conform to the party line, and for those who don't support the Bolivarian revolution. Of course, the AP resorted to its customary Associated Press Deficit Disorder, which last year I defined asAssociated Press Deficit Disorder: the innatention of Associated Press and other news agencies to the actual words said by a person who doesn't fit what AP wants to hear.
There is much more with video. It's an extraordinary post, read it all here.

Thank you for the link and your kind comments.
Make no mistake, Chavez committed to spending over $20 billion in his trip around the world hyping the UNSC bid. This is one big blow.

Help me out, here. Which party supports a culture of Life and which a culture of Death?
Even here in California, where we legislate by popular referendum, the ballots aren't quite marked that way.
I'm confused by this post, too, because Republicans are always going on so about the irrelevance of the U.N. How can Bolton's appointment as ambassador and Venezuela's absence from the security council be of such momentous importance?

lonbud - I'm beginning to think you are absolutely insane.
I've tried my best to have rational discussion with you on these issues, however you continue to bring up the most ridiculous points just to jab and needle.
You come here, with "road rage" and "Impeach Bush" stickers all over your "vehicle" and all you want to do is heckle and nit pick.
We DO think the UN is horrible and WE DO want the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.
But realistically, that won't be for a long time, so in the meantime, we want the best American UN Ambassador that we can get and that guy IS JOHN BOLTON.
The liberals (and I'm not convinced that YOU lonbud are a liberal, I think you are a registered Communist) are playing politics with the John Bolton nomination. I do believe there is more than just liberals at work here, it's communism, it's George Soros, it's ACLU (heavily influenced by communism) it's CAIR (heavily influenced by radical Islamists who were influenced by Nazis).
Russia and China are Communist countries, they are influencing Iran, Syria, which controls Hamas and Hizballah, and China controls North Korea.
Who do you want lonbud?
What is it about Bolton that YOU don't like? I bet you won't answer.

I can't very well let you win that bet, now, can I?
What I don't like about Bolton is that he's a misogynistic blowhard with a short temper and not quite enough diplomatic skills to fill a thimble.
We can do much better. If he's the best American UN abassador we can get, we're in worse trouble than even the America-hating, liberal, defeatist MSM would have us believe.

lonbud - Is that the best you have?? If so, you haven't watched him very much if at all. I've seen him at least 100 times and he's always ALWAYS remained calm, never shouted, never stuttered, makes his points, even someone as closed-minded as you could clearly understand exactly where we stand when he speaks.
He has never lost his cool. Always keeps his dignity.
I've never ever seen him get "Clinton-like" meaning the undignified way that Clinton handled his interview with Chris Wallace who challenged Clinton on his claims about being serious on terror. Clinton fucking LOST IT, he completely lost his cool. Got red in the face, forcefully tapped his finger on Wallace's seat about 3 inches from his crotch. That was a meltdown.... do you agree? (answer required)
Bolton has never done this, so again, you are making totally false and unsubstansiated claims about him losing his temper and losing his cool. Total bushshit, all because the "Impeach Bush" neon light in your brain won't stop flashing.
Are you a member of the communist party? Have you ever registered with the communist party?
I'll tell you this lonbud, I would love to see Bolton leave the UN.... and take over the Secretary of State position.
