UPDATE: And let's discuss who decides what book a congressman takes his oath on ...........America or Keith Ellison?
I am with Prager on this;
Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress, has announced that he will not take his oath of office on the Bible, but on the bible of Islam, the Koran. He should not be allowed to do so -- not because of any American hostility to the Koran, but because the act undermines American civilization.
First, it is an act of hubris that perfectly exemplifies multiculturalist activism -- my culture trumps America's culture. What Ellison and his Muslim and leftist supporters are saying is that it is of no consequence what America holds as its holiest book; all that matters is what any individual holds to be his holiest book.
UPDATE: Alan Levy, the supreme captain of blogtalk industry, has added stunning new features to my blogtalkradio capability;
Yes, like a fine wine, we get better with age. You can upload mp3’s for music, audio clips etc. You may want to test it out before you turn it up on a live show. Also, we now have rss feeds (Itunes, Yahoo, etc) which your audience can subscribe directly off your host channel. Most of the hosts have signed up with Itunes (which we organize). By doing this, anyone can search on Itunes for Atlas and find your shows. Also, we have an embedded player which can sit directly on your blog which can play your last show. These things of course have nothing to do with tonight’s show, but as an FYI.
Most excellent, oh great platform builder.
UPDATE: Hey listen to the podcast here. Me and the fellas (they all called in, so fabi) Jerry of Israpundit, John over at China Confidential, Jon Quixote, Hugh at Sulla Institute, Mac from Mackers World (he is doing his first live show Saturday night 9pm) , Badger,

Does a Jewish member of congress have to use the Bible to take his oath, or is he allowed to use the Torah? If he is allowed to use the Torah, then I think the muslim should be allowed to use the Koran, although if you follow my blog you will know that I seldom cut them much slack.

Maybe you need to read Article VI of the Constitution, particularly the last clause:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait to hear you back on the air, er the Internet.... WHATEVER... :)

Tracy is right, except for one thing. Islam is no religion. Islam is a death cult. Islam is a cross between the mafia and the KKK. It's point is self fulfilment, and it's goal is total control. It's method is dhimmitude, slavery, and summary execution. The word totalitarian fits Islam well.
What is to be gained by ignoring the obvious about Islam ? A chance to surrender honorably ?
Posted by: wxjames | Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 03:33 PM
Hmmmmm. Tracy's got a point from reading the Constitution. Then again, I agree 100000% with wxjames.
IMHO, Islam is not a religion per se, but a totalitarian fascist ideology masquerading as a religion.

Have to disagree Don Singleton. That position undermines our cultural identity. Yeah, we do have one -- a Judeo/Christian one. We mustn't fall prey to the inability to recognize right from wrong nor the Koran from the Bible/Torah. Also, the Bible contains the Torah (the first five books). So when a Jewish person swears in on the Bible, he is also swearing in on the Torah. No?
If we can't have elected leaders swear in on the Bible, which has been a part of our tradition and legal system from the beginning, then what next? The Satanic bible for Satanists? If we don't stand firm on this one, then it opens the door for that too.
ps
anyone know if the radio program can be listened to using a dial-up connection?

You are correct, Karen. When you swear on the Bible, you are swearing on the Old Testament. This is a common thread to Judaism and Christianity with no mention of Jesus as it preceeds him. It contains the Pentateuch, or the Five Books of Moses, otherwise known as the Torah. Torahs are way too bulky and difficult even for most Jews to read because there are no vowels. The Bible also contains the Prophets. Jews, Christians, and all others are free to take an oath WITHOUT any Bible whatsoever, as I have witnessed.
The Koran is not the foundation for this nation and our ethics, nor will it ever be, nor should it be.

Before, when I wasn't really very religious, I believed the propaganda shoveled by the ACLU, et. al. about how religion is thrust upon society. Now, I tend to think that as we are a Judeo-Christian country that has laws and traditions, we need to keep them intact. If we allow this Muslim to force his preference on the country, we will proceed down a slippery slope. Next thing you know, the Rep from Philly will place his hand on a cheesesteak, the North Carolinian on a plate of pork barbecue, etc. Ummmmm, barbecue... anyway, I think it is something that even an atheist should be required to do if for no other reason than the tradition and following the constitution (the final arbiter of all this topic).

Didn't America already decide a couple hundred years ago with something called the First Amendment? Ellison should be able to swear on whatever book he wants, or no book at all. If anything, swearing on a Bible of any kind should be eliminated, but if you are going to have it for one religion, you should let others swear on something they at least believe in.

I dont know about this one. I think If I was ever elected, I would take the oath on a Tanach in Hebrew, not a Christian translation of the Torah. I dont fault him for wanting to take the Oath on the Koran
Posted by: Yidwithlid | Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 08:15 PM
The Constitution is the law of the land. Tracy's right. Those who don't support the constitution can move to some country where Christianity is the state religion.

Has there ever been a president of the U.S that didn't swear in on the BIBLE? I agree with Michael Savage. If you find it beneath your multi-culti ethos to swear in on the Bible, then get your ass out of the U.S.

Karen --
I'd like to hear what the leftarded libastards say when President Romney takes his oath on the Book of Mormon in 2009!
Posted by: Robert4 | Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 08:53 PM
Romney would take his oath on the Bible just as Joe Leiberman has. Not the book of Morman, the Koran, nor the book of the dead. This nation is interwoven with Christianity. Don't like that, offended by that? Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out of here.
The public-school-system multi-cult, "I'm-a- helpless-victim-of-white-Christians" brainwashing didn't take on me.
The compulsive and irrational fear of white Christians that some have is absurd.

Gross, abject bigotry.

For the record, I'm a 2nd generation Russian Jew. And I don't identify with all of the various "oppressed minorities" as many other Jews do here in the U.S.. I love America and what it stands for. I appreciate the dominant culture and don't want to see it destroyed by anyone. My perspective is well stated from a fellow Russian Jew here.
Perhaps I'm a bit too conservative for this blog but that's where I come from. I don't tow the PC line for anyone. I know I have a big mouth (hubby tells me so) but I am who I am. Later...

Karen --
As other people have pointed out, the Tanakh is included in the Christian Bible (albeit with a Christian translation, but it it works for Lieberman, I couldn't care less) Romney's faith is of the Mormon variety and thus his holiest of scriptures is NOT the Bible but the Book of Mormon. If he takes his oath on a book he doesn't consider the spiritual authority, why should he rule out the Phone Book or the Sears and Roebuck Catalog?

Everyone --
I've come to see that this is Jew Hate, plain and simple. First they force the Muslim with the sketchy past to swear in on the Bible and then set the stage for everyone to declare themselves officially Christian. Even if it means we have to grunt and grumble and support a Muslim serving America, we all have to fight this creeping Jew Hate from sinking its evil roots in our country!

Do you have an IM or e-mail that I can use instead of the phone?
Posted by: biga | Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 09:46 PM
Sorry but the King James is not the "bible" to me, Why would I swear on it.The constitution also calls for freedom of religion.

Karen:
I think I side with your point of view more than any of the others presented here. I am third-generation French-Jewish American. I have not swallowed the PC line either. I still have the perspective of an outsider looking in. I think I may be too conservative too. Be safe and take care. I am with you...

Keep posting at Jihad Watch. I post there too. Tammy, Diane, Michele, and others do too.

Karen: I agree wholeheartedly with you...I am neither Democrat or Republican, I am a Conservative and do not, in any way, follow the PC line and as I live in NYC (and on the West Side), you can imagine what fun I have with that...besides I'm a "redneck" only having lived "up North" for 38 years. Keep on keeping on, and lets keep them honest.

Steve, the intention of the First Amendment, as put forward by the Founding Fathers, was not to destroy the government and the Constitution itself. Tell the whole truth, Stevie my boy.

Next, we'll allow people to wear burkas in court, so that we don't even know who's being sworn in, like on those FL drivers licenses.
