Politics is all about timing. Apparently, the liberals behind Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the group that received information about Mark Foley's sexual instant messages as far back as April, originally planned to unleash its blockbuster a bit later in the 2008 election cycle. The American Spectator reports that a political consultant with ties to the Democratic National Committee told the magazine: "I'm hearing the Foley story wasn't supposed to drop until about ten days out of the election. It was supposed to be the coup de grace, not the first shot."
But as another Democratic operative told the magazine, the political climate at the end of September was suddenly turning ominous. "Bush's national security speeches were getting traction beyond the base, gas prices were dropping, economic outlook surveys were positive. Republicans were back to [holding enough House] seats for a 15-seat majority. In the Senate, it looked like a wash." All that may have played a role in prompting Democratic partisans to speed up the use of opposition research on Mr. Foley that had been put aside for later in the campaign. "Republicans had to have known we'd be looking to change the national debate," says a House Democrat leadership aide.

UPDATE: Strasphere has more here on the party of Obstruction and Personal Destruction;
The WaPo seems to be trying to get ahead of some coming news by admitting they dealt with a democrat operative peddling the Foley story and used a Democrat Page source who was interested in affecting the coming elections
Between WaPo and Harpers we don't need much more evidence of Democrat dirty tricks - do we?

Some people say that there is no point voting because there is no difference between the two major parties, and the other parties have no chance of winning. However, there is a difference: the Republicans are disappointing and the Democrats are dangerous.

What has happenned to the Vlog? Was it censored by the new owners Google? If your Vlog was pro Chinese communists, it would be listed as most popular. I am dissapointed that Google now owns YouTube.

HEY PAMELA, THEY TOOK YOUR V-LOG DOWN. Damn.
The first in your series is the last. Damn. LOL
It MUST have been a good one too. You apparently offended lots of liberal sensitivities. Woe. LOLOL
You need to do it again and just post it here.
Wow.

Pamela,
Great VLOG as usual! Looking good as usual too! I agree with you 100% about pollsters being leftists. Also, I believe this election is going to be a HUGE upset for the Dhimmicrats. There should be many pollsters out of business in November, but I'm not holding my breath because they should have gone out of business in 2004.

Glad to see the Vlog is up. Thank you for the true picture.

What the crap? The Republicans need a new opposition party. Soon.
Posted by: George guy | Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 08:57 PM
I understand these are wasted words, but if you're going to demonize an entire nation, can you at least pronounce it correctly? Iran is pronounced "ee-rahn," not "I ran."

Best Vlog yet! I agree, make all Congressmen (and Senators) take polygraphs! Ouuuu, I wonder which PARTY would have the most with "gray areas".... Republicans or Democrats. My money's on the donkeys....
I had a polygraph when I was in the service at NSA, it wasn't that bad... although my clearance was pulled for a few months while they checked out the relationship I had with a "foreign national" who had a green card from a communist satellite (a Polish woman I met). They just want to make sure you're not a traitor or anything.. or make sure there's no skeletins in your closet... so why would a Congressman object to that??
Strap 'em all up!
Also, start holding them accountable for taking classified materials out of the building (what the hell DID Berger take anyway?? More Korean/China coverups?? or Al-Queda? We'll never know because THEY aren't accountable!
JD Infidel - good catch - the pollsters are full of it (Lefties).
Go Santorum!
Oh, and that Jong ILL - Madeline Albright video is the TRUTH.
We can't let the Dems win or it will be a HORROR, a living Twilight Zone....

Zhubin - they demonized us first...
Posted by: Richard Davis | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 01:05 AM
That's not an acceptable excuse for anything, Richard, unless you take your cues for what is acceptable behavior from Islamic militants.
Posted by: Zhubin | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 01:15 AM
Why is it so many Americans, although enjoying an extraordinarily high standard of living, are so full hate? Learn to love life. Learn to love others. Vive la difference!

Z - the midget wants to attack us, with Nukes (or chemical or biological). He's already supporting, funding, and arming Hamas and Hezballah. He's killing US troops and Israeli citizens and IDF. Iran is not an ally, it IS an axis of evil. When we fought Germany we demonized that whole country, ditto for Japan. And look how hard we and Israel try to avoid civilians.
I know my reply won't convince or satisfy you because I'm sure we're polarized. But I think we're doomed if we hold back on account of "because".
Posted by: Richard Davis | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 08:46 AM
Ahmadinejad is not going to attack the U.S., Richard. He just throws out this rhetoric to try and rile up a public that doesn't like him or his government. It's no different from Bush constantly bringing up the War on Terror to boost his polls.
Yeah, Iran's government is awful, and they've been responsible for heinous crimes against humanity, against their own people and against Israel and against America. And they should be punished for it. But the Iranian people hate their government, too, and they're a complex and varied people, just like us, and they've been the most civilizing influence in Islamdom. Demonizing them doesn't help anybody, it just drives them away from us and furthers the cycle of hate.
A little appreciation for complexity and nuance, is all I'm saying.

Atlas,
You heard it here first.
There is a certain derogatory term in islam. The term is Dini. It is used to describe, for want of a better term, a koran thumper. Someone who is so one dimensional in his adherance to Islam he becomes tiresome to even his fellow Muslims.
Now here's the question of the day.
If I'M A JIHAD DINI. Would that make me the president of Iran?
Posted by: cozmo1950 | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 01:01 PM
Cozmo1950, You don't believe in the holocaust ?
Posted by: wxjames | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 01:33 PM
I think that being referred to as
I'M A JIHAD DINI Would do more to get under this guy's skin than anything else that I could think of.
Holocaust? Detroit, second grade, 1957, show and tell, one of the kids in class brought a scrapbook put together by his dad in 1945. It would more than likely get a teacher fired today. Yeah, I believe.
Posted by: cozmo1950 | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 02:13 PM
Z - What makes you so sure he won't attack us? What about Israel, do you think he'll attack Israel?
Posted by: Richard Davis | Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 11:45 PM
Of course he's not going to attack Israel. How is supposed to attack Israel? With troops? A bomb? And bring the entire IDF down on Tehran?
This is yet another reason why demonizing others is a bad idea, Richard - you start thinking that they're capable of anything, because they're "evil" and that's what evil people do. But Ahmadinejad is not insane, nor is he stupid. He's a politician who wants to stay in power. He throws out all the rhetoric about Israel and the U.S., because it stirs up nationalism, and he keeps pushing for nuclear weapons because it makes him look like a big guy standing up to the West and because nukes get you power and respect. And he talks about the Mahdi and all that because he's the president of a very religious country, and his poor rural base responds to it. This is all Demogauge 101 stuff.
But it's one thing to say that Israel should be wiped off the map, and it's another thing to actually attack Israel. Iranians don't care about the former, but they are not going to tolerate another war, and these mullahs know it. So no, I guarantee you Iran is never going to attack Israel or the United States.
Unless the U.S. hits first, because we've demonized them to the point where we think it's the only option left. And wouldn't that be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Posted by: Zhubin | Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 01:43 AM
Zubin: How can YOU guarantee that Iran will not attack Israel??? My God, what arrogance.
Do you have a brother that goes by the name of Robert4 ?
Posted by: DoctorDentons | Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 08:25 AM
I just EXPLAINED why, Dentens. Do you read other comments before you respond to them?
Look, bottom line is, Iranians aren't going to stand for an unprovoked war. They'll nod and clap for anti-Israel rhetoric, because they don't like Israel, and "Muslim solidarity" and all that, but in their view it's the Arabs' fight. They're certainly not going to spend blood and treasure on it.
And the country has enough problems as it is, with rampant drug use and a terrible economy and government corruption. Heck, that's why Ahmadinejad got elected in the FIRST place - he ran on economic populism and old time religion, not on aggressive Islamic conquest. And now that he can't solve the numerous problems, he's trying to distract attention with his chest-thumping.
I know it's difficult, Dentens, but can you think very, VERY hard for a minute and try to understand that a country is not the equivalent of its leader? Just focus on it.
Posted by: Zhubin | Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 09:18 AM
Z - Glad YOU'RE so sure. Anyway, how would YOU stop Iran from funding, arming, and encouraging Hamas, Hezballah, and Jihadist Assasins around the world and in particular in Iraq and Israel.
Do you agree Iran is sending arms, bombs, IED's, high tech weapons, and assassins into Iraq that are killing our troops?
If you do believe it, how would you stop this?
If you don't believe it, then you need to wake up. (but I think you do)
Posted by: Richard Davis | Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 11:22 AM
Z-No, you stated it as though you personally guarantee that they would not strike out...and yes I do read All of the articles and the comments that go before and it is not difficult at all to understand that you should not make guarantees that you can't back up...there is not a person on this planet that can guarantee that that mental midget will not strike...how do you plan to guarantee your guarantee?
Posted by: DoctorDentons | Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 05:22 PM
Let's not play stupid games with semantics, Dentons. Of course I'm not "personally guaranteeing" it in the sense that I would a mortgage. Just pretend I said whatever equates to "there is no way that Iran is going to attack Israel or the U.S. absent provocation."
The Iranian government will keep on doing what you said, Richard - surreptitiously funding Hezbollah and underwriting Shiite groups in Iraq. It causes just as much trouble to the US and Israel, it strengthens Iran's hand in the region since their neighbors become destabilized, and most of all, it can't be definitely traced back to the government.
I don't quite know how to stop it - it's not going to be any easy solution, Richard, although it's worth pointing out that Iranians don't like their money being diverted for Hezbollah. Iranian dissatisfaction with the regime needs to be exploited, not undermined by attacking the country and demonizing the public.
