US, FRANCE SUBMIT TO ISLAM
It is difficult for me to reconcile Condi's position on a hudna for Hezb'Allah and the US's position on Iraq and Afghanistan. Think about it. For years, years , we have been told (and rightly so) that you can not put a timetable on eradicating evil fundamentalists from these countries and establish functioning democracies. And here we have the same country calling on Israel to stop after just a few days after a terrorist organization declared war on Israel and has been raining rockets on Israeli citizens for two weeks now.
Apparently, the US andFRance have ironed out the details on a ceasefire resolution to present to the UNSC.
The only thing that may save Israel from this "ceasefire" that the US and France will be presenting to the UNSC will be Hezb'Allah. If Hezb'Allah does not want a ceasefire, there will be no ceasefire. If the teror group wants a ceasefire, they'll have one.
BREAKING News Alert: Woman, two daughters killed in rocket attack A woman and her two daughters were killed when a rocket hit their home in an Arab-Israeli town west of Shlomi on Saturday. The assault was part of a massive bombardment of some 70 rockets that rained down over northern Israel.
Ceasefire, my ass. I hope Olmert has the balls to spit in the face of the UN should a resolution be passed imposing a ceasefire.
UPDATE: Bruce has more on the terms of the ceasefire here.
UPDATE: The Captain is optimistic. I am less so. I have as much faith in a multi-national force, albeit a German one, as I have in a Democrat party being tough on radical Islamic terror here in the US . If the Israelis can't defeat the Iranian foreign legion, Hezb'Allah, I find it impossible to delude myself into believing that a Jew hating world body is going to save Israel from her enemies.
UPDATE: Caroline Glick rips Olmert's execution of the war and lays out a strategy for success here;
'...Yet the contempt which greeted Olmert's fabrications and empty declarations of victory did not deter him. In fact, it seemed to embolden him. By Wednesday morning he removed his Clinton mask and went back to being plain old Olmert - the hack politician who was barely elected to Knesset in 2003....

"Ceasefire, my ass. I hope Olmert has the balls to spit in the face of the UN should a resolution be passed imposing a ceasefire."
I love it when you tell it straight without the social niceties! I am sick of the idiots in the Western governments always wanting to stop Israel before it has finished the job. Islamic terrorists CANNOT be pacified except by incurring a condition known as "rigor mortis." Let the IDF supply them with the medicine!

I doubt Olmert has the guts to continue the disarmament of Hezbollah.
Will the world ever learn? if Germany had been forced to abide by the disarmament part of the Versailles Treaty WWII would have been avoided.
Criminals do not abide by laws and resolutions; they must be put in a position where they cannot continue their illegal operations. Israel is fighting criminals. Hello world!!!

I wouldn't worry about it. It's chess. Condi presses Isreal (hard) and they take a breath. Hezbollah couldn't control themselves even if Iran threatened them. They'll start or intensify the attacks and then Isreal will look across the room at the UN and say "we tried your formula, you're irrelevant so forget it. We'll take care of ourselves". THEN the Israel needs to do it 100%. No incremental crap.
No one will be able to deny that Isreal tried everything.
The main thing the US has to do at that point is throw the flag on the "innocent Lebanese" bleating. They've been full partners with Hez the whole way, and they play this 2 faced game of saying "Hez is a rogue element so this attack wasn't a state v state act of war" (it was), then they claim that "Hez is part of Lebanese society". Well, they can't have it both ways. If the Lebanese embrace them (they do), then they and Hez are partners, and they manned up for this and initiated it wtih full complicitly. Bolton has to drive this home, once the "imposed" cease fire breaks. Israel is best off to take this one last step for the high ground.

I don't get it. Even Jack Carter (Jimmy the Dhimmi's son who is running for the Senate from Nevada) believes that the Hizbullies should be eliminated. Even Jimmy himself hasn't (yet) called on an "evenhanded" resolution to the situation.
If President Bush allows this, we might as well withdraw our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan now because they have lost the will to fight. And, we might as well be consistent. After all, if Israel, which has barbarians at its borders, is required to allow these animals to live and resupply, then the US, which, as far as I know, has no common border with Iraq, should just pull up stakes. Either your with the terrorists or against them. Apparently, our President has changed sides. Should I withdraw my Republican party registration now? If President Bush is going to give the same answer to the Israelis that a Kerry or a Clinton or a Carter would, what's the point. In fact, Hillary Clinton's New York connection makes her more supportive of the Israelis than this. National Security should be the primary function of the executive; I don't see how this capitulation to the hijacking of Lebanon by Hizbullies serves our national purpose or defense.
But, of course, we haven't had the political will in the US to attack Syria and Iran, which are part of the Axis of Evil. If President Bush believes his speeches, he should put some forces behind them and take out the Iranian nukes and Syrian chemical weapons. To paraphase the attack campaign against Goldwater, "In your heart you know they might". Actually, we know quite well that Iran will use nukes if they finally develop them.
The only hope here is that Israel can finish the job before the clock runs out (and that President Bush is fully supportive of this - after all, the ceasefire resolution does not call for an "immediate" ceasefire). Unfortunately, unless Israel has the nerve to wage a full-scale war - and that means a ground war with more than 15,000 troops and the will to suffer many casualties and march on to Damascus - then Hizbully will declare victory and restock its supplies from Syria and Iran.

I read Bruce Kesler's post. I don't see what there is to be optimistic about. The only possible silver lining in this is if Israel is somehow able to finish Hizbollah off in the days before the ceasefire is implemented. Other than that, this will be perceived as a victory for Hizbollah, meaning it will just be a little while before it will start all over again.
We sure are suffering a lot of defeats in the War recently. The West is getting prison raped.

Harcourt,
You said: "If President Bush allows this, we might as well withdraw our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan now because they have lost the will to fight."
I have come to the same conclusion in the past few weeks.
I have no idea what our objective is in this war anymore. We have not created human rights-respecting democracies in either Iraq or Afghanistan. And, we are forcing Israel to make an agreement with an organization which is dedicated to her destruction.
I really don't think we have a plan for victory. I can't find it in myself to support this anymore.

By the way, because we keep allowing ourselves to be defeated, the Islamonazis will become emboldened. They will hit us, and they will hit us hard. And, then maybe we will find the will to fight.
But, all this crap could have been avoided if we would have begun to fight earlier.
I believe this is a disaster in the making.

The ceasefire has been negotiated by the US and France. When I last checked, it was the Islamofascists and Israel who were in battle. Another feel good masturbation session at the UN.... but it does give Olmert cover to continue pounding the Arabs back to the whatever was before the Stone Age.

There will be no peace as long as Islam is dedicated to the destruction and annihilation of Israel. Let Israel defend itself by eliminating the threat.

I think you're taking all that posturing too seriously, no offense. It's very clear that there will be no cease fire until Israel wants to stop.
The MSM always tries to tell the world what to do but no one is listening anymore. It's all propaganda, speculation and outright lies anyway.
The US says "We and France are working on a cease-fire agreement". "Soon". "This weekend".
"Provided Israel agrees to the terms, and Hezbollah does too, oh and provided the Lebanese get their '7-points' that they want". I wouldn't expect them all to come to an agreement anytime soon.
Israel is in charge here. Neither the US nor Israel has submitted to Islam. Peace be unto you.

The dreadlocked one is making some sense. I've got to admit it.

In the broad conflict between Islamofascists and the West, the Islamofascists have correctly determined that they cannot win on the battlefield. They could then have surrendered, but they chose to keep fighting. In a classic and utterly predictable move, they have spent thirty-plus years engaging us via the asymmetrical warfare tactics of insurgency and terrorism.
We now face a difficult choice, now that the enemy is clearly in sight. In the West, we have no defined tactics nor strategy of our own against insurgency and terrorism, where the combatant conceals himself and his armaments among the civilian population. We are hamstrung; and therefore we CANNOT fight.
Now it is our choice to make: Shall we surrender? Or shall we instead develop tactics for fighting civilian embedded insurgents and terrorists? Util we develop the overall strategy, and sets of tactics for each kind of situation - and until we loudly adopt it, proclaim it, and affirm it - we will continue to lose.
The Preamble to the affirmation must state: A fighting force that conceals itself among the civilian population is guaranteeing great harm to its own civilians. I've not a military mind, but I am certain that ANY tactics that allow us to win will result in terrible trauma for the civilians. Yet, it is either that, or surrender.
The choice is now ours to make. And to forcibly impress the choices upon our own media. Or else, let's quit all this playing around, and get it over with, and surrender.
