Strictly by chance, I'm sure..it can't mean any kind of statistical playing around by some Neo at google without a clue about the REAL WORLD, CAN IT?

Some call Bill Keller and get this fixed, hurry

can use that one, couldn't get better quality unfortunately.

I'm certainly no fan of Google, but in fairness to Google (something they're definitely not), Bush's biography page showing up when you search "failure" is the result of something called a "google bomb." One of the criteria for ranking key words is the words used to link to a certain page. The thinking goes that if a lot of sites are linking back to the Bush site using the term "failure," then the site most likely is about "failure," so Google gives the site a high ranking for that key word.

The Failure google bomb (it's actually "miserable failure," is a pretty famous google bomb. It's no fluke. It was a concerted effort by bloggers to create a google bomb for "miserable failure" pointing back to Bush's biography. Google Bush+failure+google bomb, and you'll see lots of explanations of this google bomb.

If enough sites were linking to a particular site with a key word, the linked to site would eventually rank number one. It's easier to create google bombs with seldom used linking terms, such as miserable failure, than it is with popular searching terms such as business, or online poker.

Bush isn't the only victim of google bombs. During the 2004 campaign, googling Waffles brought up Kerry's biography on his official site.

Some google bombs, it seems, are more applicable than others.

Goggle Bomb? In the words of Randy Jackson, GW is da Bomb!

Watch out Lebanon, the way Prez Bush will finish off Hezbolah is by way of B52! Then Amen-dinajod.

Wait, wait, wait! You're just figuring this out NOW?!

Of course, this is disgusting. What's NAUSEATING is, major swaths of the US government procurement system buy PCs (from Dell, for example) which come with Google's desktop spyware pre-installed, ready to monitor the search activities of government agencies. I know, because my job involves me in that process.

They pay the manufacturers to do this. I'm sure the same is true at the state and local levels.

You can puke your guts out now.

Now search the word "Santorum". It's even better!

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
