Jihad in Seattle

Seattle – Friday July 28, 2006 - 6:00 pm PST -

A man walked into the Seattle downtown offices of the Jewish Federation, an umbrella organization with Jewish communities here and abroad, and opened fire with a shotgun. The suspect made his way past a secure door, bullet proof window, security camera and was let in by a receptionist. The tally is one dead and five injured, three in critical condition, two in satisfactory condition, all female, all hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center. The suspect is in police custody and has identified himself as a Muslim. Before opening fire he is reported to have said: “I am a Muslim American and I am angry at Israel.” Police suspect there is one other shooter at large. All Jewish synagogues and associations in the area are on alert. Seattle police spokesmen are already saying that this is not a terrorist act, that the gunman is not part of a wider terror threat. Police spokesmen already blaming it on the gunman’s unhappiness with the hostilities in the middle east.

UPDATE: From LGF. All of the shooting victims were women.

One was pregnant.

 

Harborview spokeswoman Pamela Steele said five victims were taken to her facility, all women ranging in age from 20s to 40s. Each suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen, knee, groin or arm. Three were in critical condition and still in the operating room. Two are in satisfactory condition.

One of the women in satisfactory condition is 20 weeks pregnant and was shot in the arm. Doctors believe she will be OK.

*Murder weapon: Appears to be 12 gauge shotgun;

*All victims are reportedly female, between ages of 19-35, three are reportedly in critical condition and are in surgery, while 2 others are listed in satisfactory condition. One of the latter group is reportedly 5 months pregnant and was shot in the arm. Doctors stated her prognosis and that of her unborn child is "good."

*Shooter reportedly in possession of a copy Qu'ran;

*EXCLUSIVE from law enforcement sources: "Shooter reportedly in possession of Arabic language terrorist documents,' shooting well planned, might have conducted surveillance of facility days before shooting. 'The theory of an accomplice is being investigated."

*"At very least, this is a hate crime against the Jews. At worst, this is these will be the first shots fired in the war in North America ." --Lt. [Name Withheld by request,], Seattle, WA.

Jewish Institutions in North America put on Alert:" Jewish institutions across America and Canada have been put on heightened alert following reports that the Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah is making plans to strike targets in North America.

So that is what the focus will be upon: mental illness and lewd conduct. And once again the media will ignore the question of why a man who describes himself as a Muslim American angry at Israel would think that murder of innocents was an appropriate outlet for his anger. No one will ever consider whether such behavior is encouraged by the texts and atmospherics of Islam, and if so, what can be done about it.

The shooting came a day after the FBI had warned Jewish organizations nationwide to be on alert after Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon and al-Qaida's second in command urged that the war raging in the Middle East be carried to the U.S. However, the law-enforcement source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said there is no evidence Haq was involved with any group.

When (if ever) will law enforcement officials realize that it is enough for Zawahiri and others to say this sort of thing? That that in itself is enough to move some Muslims to act? There doesn't need to be any organizational connection for there to be an ideological connection, an identity of motive and goal.

"He said he hates Israel," said the source, who is part of the Seattle Joint Terrorism Task Force, which was called in to help investigate the shootings.

David Gomez, the assistant special agent-in-charge of the Seattle FBI office, said there is "nothing to indicate he is part of a larger organization."

"We believe he is a lone individual with antagonism toward this organization," said Gomez.

He didn't say he was angry with the Jewish Center. He said he was angry with Israel. Israel is not an organization. It is a sovereign state.

Witnesses said the man announced he was an Muslim American as he forced his way into the federation offices just after 4 p.m. and fired randomly at employees with a semiautomatic 9-mm handgun. Seattle Police Assistant Chief Nick Metz said there were at least 18 people in the offices when the shooting started.

Witnesses say the gunman shot one receptionist, then ordered her to dial 911. He then took the phone from her.

"He told the police that it was a hostage situation and he wanted us to get our weapons out of Israel," said one woman who heard the account from the wounded co-worker.

Yes, this is all about mental illness. This has nothing to do with jihadist hostage-taking and murder.

I find it interesting that the NY Times waits until the FOURTH paragraph in the story to identify the idiot as Muslim. And THEN only because the Seattle police was quoted as saying they will prosecute the deed as a "hate crime".

It is no coincidence this happened in Seattle, a bastion of wacko liberal media and activism. There are many mouthpieces of hate there, including the mainstream media, blaming Israel for the world's woes. Article after article, protest after protest, school lesson after school lesson, talking about how the US is the oppressor, Israel is the aggressor, etc. The liberal hatred in cities like Seattle are ripe to encourage terrorism of all kinds. Try attending classes at the University of Washington some time... I did, and the whole thing is full of virulent wackos who oppose every normal, good thing in this world. They give excuses to every crazy cause to come down on the evil US and its allies.

I am still waiting to hear the names of the victims. Some of them might be people I know. I hope not.
