Islamic Guernica in Spain
Spain decends into madness. Check this video out over at Fausta's blog, it's enough to break the heart.
In Spain, Anti-Semitism is the new Leftist Trend
'Understand Nazis'Although many experts had foretold of the imminent disappearing of European Jews, nobody expected such a virulent explosion of anti-Semitism in Spain, not even under a Leftist government.
The first signal came on Monday, 5 December, when during a dinner with the Benarroch family, Zapatero and wife began claiming what Vidal Quadras, member of the European Parliament, described on the radio as "a tirade of anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism".
By the moment the Benarroch couple had left the table to express their regrets, Zapatero was explaining his lack of surprise about the Holocaust: according to the people present, Zapatero claimed to understand the Nazis.
Jews pay the price
The commotion caused in the Spanish Jewish community seems to be huge, especially taking in count that after some months of anxiety after his election, some Jews were feeling somewhat safe in Spain. Not anymore.
Some people were trying to alert the international community about what was boiling in Spain, but neither the OSCE nor the EUMC ever listened, preferring contacts with anti-Israeli NGOs based on the idea that anti-Semitism has to do with Arabs. Now the Spanish Jews are to pay the price for the international community's inaction, once more. hat tip Nancy

Anti-Semitism isn't something new in Spain. As a student in Italy during the 1979-80 school year in University, I travelled to Spain.
The American television mini-series "Holocaust" was being broadcast for the first time in Spain. The anti-Semitism graffiti was everywhere - painted on walls, posters glued to light posts, leaflets scarttered in the streets. I have many photos of the hate literature. It really surprised me.
When I thought about it, Spanish anti-Semitism didn't seem so odd. Franco was Fascist and was overthrown by Communists - neither group too terribly fond of Jews. A devout Catholic country (at the time) was still prone to blame the Jews for killing Jesus. Dispite the 700 years under Muslim Moorish rule, Spain owes much of the culture to Islam and not much to Judaic culture. After the defeat of the Moors, Spain set about purging Spain of Muslims in the Inquisition. Those Muslim who converted were allowed to stay. The Inquisition included Jews who typically refused to convert to Catholicism - not a crowd pleasing gesture from the "killers of Christ". Muslim or Jew those who didn't convincingly convert were expelled or killed.
Jews have never been a favored group in Spain and anti-Semitism in Spain shouldn't surprise anyone.

Actually, Indigo, Spain has a heavy debt to its Jewish past. For centuries it has refused to acknowledge it because after the "Most Catholic Majesties" defeated Granada, Muslims and Jews were expelled from Spain -- unless they converted to "the true religion" of Christianity.
As is the case, now, simply being a Muslim was enough to prove one's guilt. And while they were getting rid of "the Friday people" the Spanish also set about killing and driving out "the Saturday people" as well. The result? There are are more Jews in the Islamic Republic of Iran than in Spain.
So yeah, expressing shock at Spanish anti-Semitism is setting the bar pretty low. And, as is so often the case, anti-Muslim purges and anti-Jewish purges go hand-in-hand in the so-called Western "civilization".
Respect ALL people Spain! Respect ALL people Iran! Respect ALL people! Period!

"Respect ALL people..."
As you command, Oh Master.
Me--I respect the individual that respects others. I have little more than contempt for those individuals and groups that don't.
This can be termed discrimination or discernment. Frankly, I don't GAS.
Spain's turn toward antiSemitism is typical of liberals almost everywhere. Taking the side of the poor suffering Palestinians has been the flavor of the month for years.
When the cowards of Spain castrated themselves after the terror attacks of 3/11 and turned out a government that stood for something (rather than their current which stands for nothing), then appeasement starts. Justification (misled) for the complete lack of testosterone now displayed is in the form of present and historical antiSemitism.
The shame in Spain falls mainly on the vain.

That's partially true. Those jewish who converted were ALSO allowed to stay in Spain.
Anyway. I live in Spain, i'm spanish and i feel shame about being citizen under Rodriguez Zapatero's regime.
Antisemitism isn't something new in the leftism (and not just solely in the catholicism). Judeophobia is deeply rooted in the marxism theory. Just read what Karl Marx wrote about "the jewish question":
"Let us not look for the secret of the Jew in his religion, but let us look for the secret of his religion in the real Jew.
What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering. What is his worldly God? Money."
Very well then! Emancipation from huckstering and money, consequently from practical, real Judaism, would be the self-emancipation of our time."
