Mumbai blasts: LeT hand suspected

Police suspect Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) to be behind the serial blasts in suburban trains in Mumbai.

The magnitude of the sychronised blasts has conclusively pointed to the use of RDX by the attackers, official sources have revealed.

At least 172 people were killed and 439 injured in a series of blasts that rocked the city on Tuesday. Seven blasts took place on different railway stations in the city.

Several modules of LeT and SIMI were busted and huge amount of explosive materials, including RDX, were recovered during raids at various places in Aurangabad, Nasik and Nagpur in last two months.

Has anybody heard who did this? It's sad how easy it is to target countries like India that can't afford as much security in the way of cameras, dogs to sniff for explosives. As an Indian American, it hits home a bit more for me.

Look at today's date...

"OMG!!!!!1111 I hope it turns out that MUSLIMS were responsible!!!!!111"

Liberal Avenger: Unless my calendar is really running slow, today's date is 7/11. We know from past experience that al-Q loves their numerology. Plus, the fact that a commuter train was bombed, and the near-simultaneous explosions... from what I've seen so far, it has all the earmarks of an al-Q operation.

So what is your point?

I hope those arrests aren't for "dog and pony show" use.

First things first:

1. Find out who did it. There are groups of Hindus who have done terrorist activity around Kashmir, but Bombay (aka Mumbai) is on the other side of the country from Kashmir.

2. If Muslims did do this, then India must make the effort to take the fight to THEM, not wait for the next terror strike.

3. Pervez Musharraf better do something concrete to support India like take out some of those danmed madrasas that are teaching terrorism in Pakistan.

My point is that you people act as if you belong to a cult that derives its power from violence committed by Muslims.

If a violent event happens anywhere in the world your immediate reaction is to wet your pants and pray that Muslims were responsible.

If Muslims weren't responsible, as is usually the case, you quietly abandon the event and move on to the next outrage.

If Muslims WERE responsible, you erupt into a circle-jerk of self-congratulation and Muslim-loathing. A worldwide wingnut "I told you so," that you believe validates your creedo that "Muslims Suck."

I'm surprised that I have to spell it out for you. It is so painfully obvious to the rest of us that I thought it was self-evident.

You haven't actually fooled yourselves into thinking that you're approaching the issue of Muslims-as-Terrorists objectively, are you?

Liberal: As liberals usually do, you have redefined the English language to suit your own purposes. In this case, the word "usually", which I see you've defined to mean "almost never". Here's a challenge for you, which I'm guessing you will ignore: Name one major terrorist attack in the past five years, anywhere in the world, that wasn't committed by Muslims. Just one.

Liberal: Let's see here:

Oklahoma City, 1995: The Clintons covered up the neo-Nazi group behind McVeigh and Nichols to say they (Clinton Administration) solved it. Turns out the neo-Nazis have links to al-Qaeda.

Khobar Towers, 1996: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

American Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

USS Cole, 2000: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

9-11: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

Madrid, 3-11-2003: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

Lest I forget: Two banks blown up in Turkey, 2002 and four more buildings in 2003, including two more banks: Done by f_cking Muslims. What don't you understand about that, doo-dah Liberal??

I was in Istanbul in 2002. I was riding to Taksim with a friend in a taxi. The cab driver was Muslim. He said out loud, "Bin Laden, Son of Bitch." I laughed and asked him why he said that. He told us that not all Muslims think he's a hero. 9-11 caused a 30% drop in tourism in Turkey. Normally 12 million people a year vacation in Istanbul. In the first half of 2002 it didn't hit 4.5 million.

OK, I'll go one up...name a terrorist incident in the LAST TEN YEARS that didn't involve Muslims. I'll buy you a case of beer if you can. Come on. Prove it.

A cult, huh?

Well, Pam does have some admirers here.

As expected, LibAv likes the personal attack method of arguing his point, especially since his point (that "If Muslims weren't responsible, AS IS USUALLY THE CASE, you quietly abandon the event and move on to the next outrage.") is so far removed from reality as to beggar the question, Under what rock have you been these last 40 years?

Whereas most Muslims are NOT terrorists, the vast majority, overwhelming majority of terrorist and sectarian violence has been perpetrated by political Muslims (as in Israel) or fanatically hateful Muslims.

Some of us that roam with Atlas actually believe that there are trends amongst societies that are actually more of a threat to our children and us than the Bush administration.

I know, I know--you and your friends recognize no greater threat in life than ChimpyMcBushItlerHalliburton. But those of us more in touch with reality disagree.

We remember 9.11. We recall Bali, Madrid, London. Embassies, USS Cole, Khobar Towers and damn near countless suicide bombers in Israel. Does it really shock that many would think that this latest in India is probably also the work of the same ilk as what I listed above?

Curious that you have a term like 'circle jerk' so handy to use--as if on the tip of your tongue. Looking back over the other comments here today I don't sense anything like what you describe.

Thomas Carney,

You do realize that you have opened yourself up for the classic liberal reply, "Well, what about all the the terrorist acts Bush has done during his presidency?"

Silly, predictable liberals.

Indians are great peaceful people. My condolences.I hope one day the world will wake up and ban islamofascist scum.

daggummit; I'm turn, not just tuesday at 4:59

So - if a bomb goes off anywhere in the world, chances are a Muslim was responsible?

Is that what you're saying?

Shocka.

"OK, I'll go one up...name a terrorist incident in the LAST TEN YEARS that didn't involve Muslims. I'll buy you a case of beer if you can. Come on. Prove it."

For the record, here are two recent terrorist attacks that didn't involve the "Religion of Peace":

In 2002, a suicide bomber attacked a Finland shopping center with about 100 dead or injured.

In 2003, a South Korea subway attack left about 350 dead or injured.

You can learn more about these attacks and plenty of other unpleasant stuff at http://lifeboat.com/ex/worldnews

Klabdak: Oh, yeah, I know. Liberals hate facts... they only like the realities in their minds.

Hmmmm. OK, Lifeboat, I owe you a case of beer.

lifeboat: That's TWO non-Muslim terror attacks versus 5343 attacks by Muslims since 9-11-01.

"That's TWO non-Muslim terror attacks versus 5343 attacks by Muslims since 9-11-01."

Yes, the "Religion of Peace" has been pretty busy lately!

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
