Muslims Terrorizing Muslims in Jerusalem

I spent the morning in East Jerusalem which is mostly Arab. The differences between the Jewish areas and the Arab areas is to break your heart. It is inexplicable to me why the Arabs would live in such abject squalor, throwing their garbage in the streets when they could all work together with the Jews for a far better life. But Jihad Islam will never let that happen. FACT.  You can immediately tell what part of Jerusalem you are in, in a nanosecond, with a mere glimpse of your surroundings. The women, young and old, wore the burka and in many cases the chador in the hot summer  heat.

Watch this video. I am sorry for the wind. Muhammad is saying that all the Arab stores were forced to close today to "strike"  against the Israei acts of self defense in Lebanon. It made no sense to me as this hurts the shopowners and the Arab customer. But the Arab Muslim shop owners are threatened, their shops destroyed if they do not close. And who suffers?  The Arabs......... the Jews don't buy halal.

I had this encounter with an Arab Muslim when viewing  the top of Mount Olive. Mount Olive, the oldest Jewish cemetary in the world on Mount Olive. 68,000 Jews are buried there. (shown below)

The tragedy of Israel is the constant state of seige the Israelis live under. Going to meet Ari, an old LGF pal,  at a small cafe for lunch, I went though security check and iron doors. The level of security at every level of everyday life is staggering. Americans have no cluea dn the world is blackhearted to the what this country is enduring.

There can be no cease fire. These people, their children are fighting for the lives, and the lives of this great nation. The miracle of Israel, IMAO, is that warriors could create such a magnificent jewel of a nation in such a malevolent cesspool. Everything in Israel is constructed, erected with such beauty, detail, respect and intelligence. All under constant threat. But this fight is different. It is existential. The thought of "peace," no longer is in the the Israeli delusional wishlist. They know now that after giving back Gaza and withdrawing from Lebanon they  gave the enemy unprecedented access. This is why while the consensus in Israel is unified to fight Hezb'Allah, there is a mood of complete sadness. They are letting go of something their  enemy would never allow - peace. If withdrawing from Gaza and Lebanon did not bring peace, BOTHING WILL BRING PEACE.

Rabbi Wolpe. What a Rabbi! If all of our shuls had a Wolpe, American Jewry would not be so disconnected, disaffected. In describing the Wall, the Rabbi said paraphrasing, there are people with hearts of stone and stones with the hearts of people (alluding to the centuries of Jews who have come here to pray and pour their hearts out.)

Returning to my room and turning on the news (No FOX!), I can not make it official, CNN (Crescent News Network) makes Goebbels propaganda look like childs play. At least then we knew it was Naza state propaganda but CNN is "independent" They are anything but. They are jihad TV. Their portrayal of events in Lebanon are such lies, such Jew hatred -- it is nothing short of frightening. Nothing is as they say it is.It is as if they are getting their talking points straight from Hezb'Allah. If I hear the "Israeli war machine" one more time, I'll scream. It's a handful of Jews fighting for their lives. Where are the news reports of the bombing of Nahariyah Hospital and the destruction of its fourth floor and the Department of Eye Diseases, in which Arabs and Jews have been treated,  and where Arab and Jewish interns wor?  All this whining about the Lebanese people not having enough money to leave their towns (as the benificent Israel has told them to do.) Tell Hezb'Allah to stop buying armaments and bombs and buyt their human shields a  one way ticket out.

CNN screaming all day for a HUDNA so that the jihadis can rearm. Sick, sick, sick. Why? For access as they did by covering for Saddams heinous acts of barbarism? These CNN dhimmis will be the first ones getting their pretty little heads chopped off if the savages they are supporting should win. A CEASEFIRE IS A DEATH SENTENCE FOR iSRAEL.

Just getting back and I have much to tell but running to a dinner I was graciously invited to by the most generous Rich R. with Rabbi David Wolpe and friends of the IDF. But I wanted to load this video of Muhammad. I didn't realize the audio was imperfect or I would have redid it. Mujammad was a powerful albeit quiet speaker for his people.

Early tomorrow morning I will be joining Rabbi Wolpe's mission with the  Friends of the IDF  on a journey to the North. We will be visiting with beseiged families, bereaved families , and wounded IDF soldiers in the hospital Thank you and Gd bless you Rich.

JIHAD CONGRESSMAN

Representative John Dingell, a Democrat (no surprise there right? ) from Michigan - no surprise here either with Hezb'Allah firmly ensconced in Dearbornistan  here and here)  appeared on a Detroit television program Sunday alongside Republican Congresswoman Candice Miller. After Dingell said he would not take sides in the current Israeli - Hezbollah conflict, the host asked “so you’re not against Hezbollah?” Rep. Dingell replied with a resounding “no.”

If the Democrats take control of the house in November, Dingell will be the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He's one of the jihad eight (Democrats of course) that did not vote for a resolution supporting Israel.  This potential committee chairman has despicably chosen a terrorist organization over a strong American ally.

Folks please pass this on to your neighbors, co-workers, anyone. We are in the fight of our lives. and the jihad is the defining issue of our times.

Here is the surreal survival of one man and his family in the north;

It's Sunday night... I have not had much time on the computer as we are packing up our house, literally under fire, putting all of our belongings in storage at a neighbors and preparing for the next journey.[...]

  We are not sure where we are going to live next. Our plan is to travel to the States for the month on August and part of September, as I said to help my mom, and to hopefully have some exhibitions where I can sell some work to make up for the lost business due to the fact that Tzfat has become like a ghost town because of the bombings. It has been quite surreal these past few weeks. When we are in Moshav Amirim, where we have been living for the past 3 years, we hear, mostly distant, booms. It seems far away but then I find myself saying to myself, "Hmmmm...artillery? Katyushas?" Can you imagine...i can't hardly. On this past Friday afternoon, as we were preparing to go to my wife Nili's aunt's Moshav in the south, there was a very loud explosion, very close to us,,,like a really loud "CRACK!" and "BOOM!" all together...that scared me...then there was another one a few seconds later. Yeah, that was 2 Katyushas hitting close to Amirim. I didn't see any smoke or fire nor did I hear any "SHRIEK" before the explosion, so maybe they weren't as close as I thought, or it seemed. Anyway, I went into the secure room with Nili, Sanchez (our dog) and Issac (Nili's mom's partner). Pretty freaky...and after I went outside to look around for the smoke...A weird part of me is very curious to actually see the rockets, but the more rational part of me tells myself, "Are you nuts...get out of there!".

  We drove through the town of Afula on the way down south. I found out later that a few minutes before we got to Afula, one of the so-called "Fajr" rockets had landed just outside of town, thank G-d not causing any damage to life or property.

  I had gone to Tzfat on Tuesday (I think it was Tuesday) to close up things at my gallery and check on the situation. While I was there, 4 air raid sirens went off, but no actual rockets landed where I was. The first siren was scary...imagine waiting for a rocket to hit...after that, not as scary. I took a bunch of pictures of some damage which I will post soon. THe most miraculous damage related weirdness was at my friend Avraham Lowenthal's Gallery of Mystical Art (kabbalahart.com). He created art based on Kabbalah, Jewish Mysticis, (to put it simply). I went to check on their house for them and found that bunch of the house and gallery windows were smashed from a nearby explosion. Upstairs in the gallery, in his work space, the 3 part windows were completely smashed yet a piece of art, based on the sounds of the shofar, which is framed completely in glass, on both sides and transparent, which was leaning up right on the smashed window, wasn't even scratched (I also will post a picture of that-stay tuned). It's amazing...and not one other piece of art was damaged...lots of originals and fragile pieces there.   Tomorrow I am off to Tzfat again to deal with some things at the gallery and document some of the relief efforts that volunteers with Livnot u'Lhibanot are organizing (livnot.com). Bringing people food, fixing things in shelters , playing music for people...

  It's 1 am now and there are stills distant booms.. We have a friend in New YOrk helping to set up a Tzfat Refugee Artist show in Manhattan in Sept. If anyone has any contacts, especially at the federation there, that could help out with covering expenses for getting art and artists over there, please let me know.

   Even in these dangerous times, there is a lot of good coming out...mostly about how people are being good to each other, really coming together and taking care of each other, just being nice, opening their homes and all kinds of things...

Cedar Revolution Blames Hezb'Allah

The WCCR accuses Hezbollah and its regional allies of intentionally forcing the civil society of Lebanon, and in particularly the communities under the control of Hezbollah's militias, to become a shield for Hezbollah's military operations. By doing so, Hezbollah is breaching international law and must respond to international responsibility. Any military force, which is in control of the security of a civilian population in geographical areas, is responsible for their security. By maintaining that control over south Lebanon and the Bekaa valley, Hezbollah, even as a Terrorist organization is responsible for the safety and security of all civilians it has under its control. Hence the WCCR, representing the aspirations of millions of Lebanese inside the country and in its Diaspora, urges the United Nations to take immediate action by dispatching international troops to protect the civilian populations of Lebanon from the effects of the ongoing war on Lebanese territories.

SYRIA'S CHEMICAL MISSILES

Syria's Chemical Misslies
NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL WEAPONS

July 30, 2006: Syria may not have nuclear weapons, but it has created a force of ballistic missiles equipped with chemical (nerve and mustard gas) warheads. Syria is believed to have about 1200 ballistic missiles. About 85 percent of them are SCUDs, and most of these are improved designs from North Korea and Iran. The main improvement is a larger fuel tank, giving these missiles a range of about 700 kilometers. This allows them to reach anywhere in Israel. About 15 percent of their missiles are more modern (solid fuel) Russian SS-21s. But these only have a range of 70 kilometers. Thus the Syrians have about 600 missiles with a range of 700 kilometers, another 400 with a range of 300-400 kilometers, and about 200 with a range of 70 kilometers. All these missiles carry a half ton warhead. And some of these warheads carry nerve gas or mustard gas.

There are about 70 mobile launchers for the SCUDs, and about as many for the smaller SS-21s. The SCUD launchers, and support vehicles, are hidden in fifteen or more tunnel complexes. A major disadvantage of the SCUDs is that they take over an hour to fuel and get ready for firing. Some of the liquid fuel is poisonous, and the crews have to be careful while handling it. While there are some underground SCUD launching facilities, these are probably known to the Israelis, and likely to be bombed early in any conflict. That's why the 70 mobile launchers are so important. These will be much sought after by Israeli aircraft, UAVs and satellites.

Israel also has an anti-missile system (Arrow) that can knock down a few SCUDs at a time. If the Israelis can destroy most of the mobile launchers, and underground launch sites, that might be enough to avoid getting hit with chemical warheads.

These ballistic missiles are really the only reliable weapon Syria has. Poverty, and the end of Cold War era handouts from Russia, has led the 220,000 man Syrian army to decline in quality. The Syrian air force has sunk even deeper. The Syrian forces were never all that great to begin with. But now, all they can do is threaten Israel with chemical warheads carried on ballistic missiles. The United States has threatened to reply with nukes if anyone uses chemical weapons against U.S. troops or civilians. It's unclear if Israel would respond the same way. The Israeli armed forces could roll over the Syrian army and capture all of Syria in short order. The Eagle Has Landed in Israel

Just got to the hotel...............security insane (maybe because I am staying in Condi's hotel?) I stopped at Mini-Israel on my way in the Jerusalem. It is striking to me the respect and attention the Israelis paid to replicating in exact detail the mosques and the Muslims in prayer in these displays at Mini Israel. The Israelis duplicatd more mosques that temples. Oh, if the respect was mutual, what a wonderful world it would be.

Listenng to Kofi Enema right now speak on the Crescent News Network -CNN (no FOX- ugh.) He is spewing his vitriol at Israel and holding both responsible parties for the deaths in the war the jihad is exacting on Israel. This is the height of moral equivalence. It is sickening. Hezb'Allah is solely responsible for today's incident. Where is the world outrage at Hezb'Allah for using women and children as human shields? This is the issue.

The building fell 7 hours after the IDF bombed it.  Why were all of those people still in there? Check out the IDF video here. The innocent civilians in all this are the Israelis livving under a rain of  rockets - unguided weapons of terror. Here's more on Hezb'Allah's depraved use of civilians.

Here in Israel, they are of one mind. They will not falter. Their existence depends on it. I STAND WITH ISRAEL.

1. Tonight, an IDF spokesman showed aerial photos of rockets being fired from residential areas in Qana.  It showed the portable rocket launchers being parked beneath residential buildings.  The spokesman said that the bombs dropped on Qana were dropped at 1 a.m. The reports of the building collapse took place at 7 a.m.  Also, no bombs actually hit the building.  So,  who was responsible for the collapse of that building?  Could Hezbollah weapons have exploded, destroying the building?   Was it deliberate, a way to pressure Israel into a ceasefire the same way they did last time, in exactly the same spot? And why is no one in the media picking up on this time gap and asking questions?

2. The number of those injured is being supplied by Lebanese sources, and being quoted by all the news stations. So far, only 26 bodies have been recovered.  But news reports are saying the number was twice that, and half are children.  That too is supplied by unknown sources and repeated by the major media.

3. At 7 a.m. a barrage of Hezbollah rockets hit the shopping center and buildings of Kiryat Shmona, unlike anything else the town has experienced. Altogether 1500 kilograms of bombs have hit the area's approximately 25,000 residents remaining in their homes. Where is the outrage over that?

The Guardian reported that Iran warned the west that attempts to broker a Lebanon peace deal at today's Rome summit are destined to fail and that the West ignores Iran "at your peril."

UN NOT DELIBERATELY TARGETED

Retired Canadian Maj.-Gen. Lewis MacKenzie told Canada's CBC radio last week that the Canadian officer Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, killed by IDF fire at a UN post in Lebanon last Tuesday, had complained in e-mails that Hizbullah fighters were all over his position. "They use the UN as shields knowing that they can't be punished for it," said MacKenzie

Where os Kofi' outrage? Where is Kofi's condemnation of Hezb'Allah terrorists using the UN, women. children, as shield to kill innocent Jews?

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan slammed Israel for the attack, which killed three other UNTSO observers, claiming that it had been intentional. Israel apologized asserting that UN post had been targeted accidentally.

Israel is always apologizing. Ugh.

Hess-von Kruedener observed, in e-mails to MacKenzie, his former commander in the Canadian army: "We have on a daily basis had numerous occasions where our position has come under direct or indirect fire from both artillery and aerial bombing. The closest artillery has landed within two metres of our position and the closest 1,000 [pound] aerial bomb has landed 100 metres from our patrol base.

"This has not been deliberate targeting," Kruedener said, "but has rather been due to tactical necessity."

That last line has been read to imply that Hizbullah fighters used the UN posts as cover from which to launch their rocket attacks and Israel had tried to target them.

Mackenzie noted that the IAF's strikes have resulted in an extremely low number of casualties given the amount of ammunition fired.

Kofi should be arrested. Conspiracy to murder.

Cry to those Using Babies as Sheilds

My son is in the army.  He is not the type at all, believe me.  Quiet, studious, a writer, a lover of Jewish history, Talmud, ethics.  He spent two years in a pre-army program in the Galilee called Karmei Chayil. He made many good friends there from all over the country, and now he and all his friends are in the army.  One of them I know well.  A bit chubby, with payot, and a great laugh.  He and my son have become like brothers.  While both of them tried out for the elite paratroopers unit, only he made it in.  He and his unit a  re the ones  in Lebanon.  They were there over a week, fighting under horrific conditions, running out of food and water.  Even though the Israeli airforce dropped tons of leaflets warning civilians to flee because they were in terrorist territory and likely to be injured, they still encountered civilians.My son spoke to his friend yesterday,and this is how he described it:

"The village looked empty, and then we heard noises coming from one of the houses,  so we opened fire.  But when we went inside, we found two women and a child huddled in the corner of the room.  We were so relieved we hadn't hurt them.  We took up base in one of the empty houses.  And then all of a sudden, we came under intense fire.  Three rockets were fired at the house we were in. Only one managed to destroy a wall, which fell on one of us, covering him in white dust, but otherwise not hurting him.  I spent the whole time feeding bullets to my friend who was shooting non-stop.  We managed to killed 26 terrorists.  Not one of us was hurt.  Our commanding officer kept walking around, touching everybody on the shoulder, smiling and encouraging us: "We're are better than they are. Don't worry."  It calmed us all down.  And really, we were much better then them.  They are a lousy army.  They only win when they hide behind baby carriages."

Please remember this when you hear about the "atrocity" of the Israeli bomb dropped on Kfar Cana, killing many civilians, a place from which Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets at Israel.  Unlike previous administrations, Mr. Olmert has my respect when he says: "They were warned to leave.  It is the responsibility of Hezbollah for firing rockets amidst civilians."

Terrorists and their supporters have lost the right to complain about civilian casualties, since all they have done this entire war is target civilians. Every single one of the more than 2,500 rockets launched into Israel, is launched into populated towns filled with women and children. Just today, another suicide belt meant to kill civilians in Israel was detonated harmlessly by our forces in Nablus.  So don't cry to me about civilian casualties.  Cry to those using your babies and wives and mothers; cry to those who store weapons in mosques, ambulances, hospitals, and private homes.  Cry to those launching deadly rockets from the backyards of your kindergartens and schools.  Cry to the heartless men who love death, and however many of their troops or civilians die, consider themselves victorious as long as they can keep on firing rockets at our women and children.

Save your sympathy for the mothers and sisters and girlfriends of our young soldiers who would rather be sitting in study halls learning Torah, but have no choice but to risk their precious lives full of hope,  goodness and endless potential, to wipe out the cancerous terrorist cells that threaten their people and all mankind.   Make your choice, and save your tears. 

That terrorists have been unsuccessful in killing more of our women and children is due to our army, God and prayers, not to any lack of motivation or intention on their part. If you hide behind your baby to shoot at my baby, you are responsible for getting children killed. You and you alone.

Words take on new meanings as Israel struggles to survive.

A "ceasefire" would occur should Hezbollah give back kidnapped Israelis and stop launching missiles; it would never follow a unilateral cessation of Israeli bombing. In fact, we will hear international calls for one only when Hezbollah's rockets are about exhausted. "Civilians" in Lebanon have munitions in their basements and deliberately wish to draw fire; in Israel they are in bunkers to avoid it. Israel uses precision weapons to avoid hitting them; Hezbollah sends random missiles into Israel to ensure they are struck.

"Collateral damage" refers mostly to casualties among Hezbollah's human shields; it can never be used to describe civilian deaths inside Israel , because everything there is by intent a target.

"Cycle of Violence" is used to denigrate those who are attacked, but are not supposed to win.

"Deliberate" reflects the accuracy of Israeli bombs hitting their targets; it never refers to Hezbollah rockets that are meant to destroy anything they can. "Deplore" is usually evoked against Israel by those who themselves have slaughtered noncombatants or allowed them to perish - such as the Russians in Grozny , the Syrians in Hama , or the U.N. in Rwanda and Dafur.

"Disproportionate" means that the Hezbollah aggressors whose primitive rockets can't kill very many Israeli civilians are losing, while the Israelis' sophisticated response is deadly against the combatants themselves. See "excessive."

Anytime you hear the adjective "excessive," Hezbollah is losing. Anytime you don't, it isn't.

"Eyewitnesses" usually aren't, and their testimony is cited only against Israel .

"Grave concern" is used by Europeans and Arabs who privately concede there is no future for Lebanon unless Hezbollah is destroyed - and it should preferably be done by the "Zionists" who can then be easily blamed for doing it.

"Innocent" often refers to Lebanese who aid the stockpiling of rockets or live next to those who do. It rarely refers to Israelis under attack.

The "militants" of Hezbollah don't wear uniforms, and their prime targets are not those Israelis who do.

"Multinational," as in "multinational force," usually means "third-world mercenaries who sympathize with Hezbollah." See "peacekeepers."

"Peacekeepers" keep no peace, but always side with the less Western of the belligerents.

"Quarter-ton" is used to describe what in other, non-Israeli militaries are known as "500-pound" bombs.

"Shocked" is used, first, by diplomats who really are not; and, second, only evoked against the response of Israel , never the attack of Hezbollah.

"United Nations Action" refers to an action that Russia or China would not veto. The organization's operatives usually watch terrorists arm before their eyes. They are almost always guilty of what they accuse others of.

What explains this distortion of language? A lot.

First there is the need for Middle Eastern oil. Take that away, and the war would receive the same scant attention as bloodletting in central Africa .

Then there is the fear of Islamic terrorism. If the Middle East were Buddhist, the world would care about Lebanon as little as it does about occupied Tibet .

Israel is the symbol of the hated West. Were it a client of China , no one would dare say a word.

Population and size count for a lot: When India threatened Pakistan with nukes for its support of terrorism a few years ago, no one uttered any serious rebuke.

Finally, there is the worry that Israel might upset things in Iraq . If we were not in Afghanistan and Iraq trying to win hearts and minds, we wouldn't be pressuring Israel behind the scenes.

But most of all, the world deplores the Jewish state because it is strong, and can strike back rather than suffer. In fact, global onlookers would prefer either one of two scenarios for the long-suffering Jews to learn their lesson. The first is absolute symmetry and moral equivalence: when Israel is attacked, it kills only as many as it loses. For each rocket that lands, it drops only one bomb in retaliation - as if any aggressor in the history of warfare has ever ceased its attacks on such insane logic.

The other desideratum is the destruction of Israel itself. Iran promised to wipe Israel off the map, and then gave Hezbollah thousands of missiles to fulfill that pledge. In response, the world snored. If tomorrow more powerful rockets hit Tel Aviv armed with Syrian chemicals or biological agents, or Iranian nukes, the "international" community would urge "restraint" - and keep urging it until Israel disappeared altogether. And the day after its disappearance, the Europeans and Arabs would sigh relief, mumble a few pieties, and then smile, "Life goes on."

And for them, it would very well.

Mel Gibson's Jew Hating Screed

The Mel Gibson DWI bust hardly seemed worth a mention. But there is more, much more. Apparently Gibson went on a vile Jew hating rampage  when he was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious epithets. It seems the apple does not fall far from the tree.

So I guess all those hooked noses on Jewish punims in the movie The Passion of the Christ might not have been an accident after all. His harsh portrayal of the Jews in that movie notwithstanding.

Once inside the car, a source directly connected with the case says Gibson began banging himself against the seat. The report says Gibson told the deputy, "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The report also says "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."

The report says Gibson then launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

The deputy became alarmed as Gibson's tirade escalated, and called ahead for a sergeant to meet them when they arrived at the station. When they arrived, a sergeant began videotaping Gibson, who noticed the camera and then said, "What the f*** do you think you're doing?"

A law enforcement source says Gibson then noticed another female sergeant and yelled, "What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?"

We're told Gibson took two blood alcohol tests, which were videotaped, and continued saying how "f****d" he was and how he was going to "f***" Deputy Mee.

Gibson was put in a cell with handcuffs on. He said he needed to urinate, and after a few minutes tried manipulating his hands to unzip his pants. Sources say Deputy Mee thought Gibson was going to urinate on the floor of the booking cell and asked someone to take Gibson to the bathroom.

Deputy Mee then wrote an eight-page report detailing Gibson's rampage and comments. Sources say the sergeant on duty felt it was too "inflammatory." A lieutenant and captain then got involved and calls were made to Sheriff's headquarters. Sources say Mee was told Gibson's comments would incite a lot of "Jewish hatred," that the situation in Israel was "way too inflammatory." It was mentioned several times that Gibson, who wrote, directed, and produced 2004's "The Passion of the Christ," had incited "anti-Jewish sentiment" and "For a drunk driving arrest, is this really worth all that?"

We're told Deputy Mee was then ordered to write another report, leaving out the incendiary comments and conduct. Sources say Deputy Mee was told the sanitized report would eventually end up in the media and that he could write a supplemental report that contained the redacted information -- a report that would be locked in the watch commander's safe. hat tip ed the wolfman

Jew Hatred from the “Muslim Pope”

Imagine the following (thankfully unimaginable) scenario: Some twenty years prior to being elected Pope Benedict, then Cardinal Ratzinger wrote a 700 page treatise detailing and rationalizing for present (and all) times the most virulent anti-Jewish motifs extant in Christian theology. Sadly, what is unimaginable in Christendom, has not only occurred, but passes virtually without recognition in the Islamic world of today.

Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi wrote these words in his 700 page dissertation rationalizing Muslim Jew hatred, Banu Isra’il fi al-Qur’an wa al-Sunna [Jews in the Koran and the Traditions], originally published in the 1970s, and then re-issued in 1986:

[The] Koran describes the Jews with their own particular degenerate characteristics, i.e. killing the prophets of Allah, corrupting His words by putting them in the wrong places, consuming the people’s wealth frivolously, refusal to distance themselves from the evil they do, and other ugly characteristics caused by their deep-rooted lasciviousness…only a minority of the Jews keep their word….[A]ll Jews are not the same. The good ones become Muslims, the bad ones do not.

Tantawi was apparently rewarded for this scholarly effort by being named Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University in 1996, a position he still holds. These are the expressed, “carefully researched” views on Jews held by the nearest Muslim equivalent to a Pope—the head of the most prestigious center of Muslim learning in Sunni Islam, which represents 90% of the world’s Muslims. And Sheikh Tantawi has not mollified such hatemongering beliefs since becoming the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar as his statements on the Jews as “enemies of Allah, descendants of apes and pigs”, the legitimacy of homicide bombings of Jews, or “dialogue” with Jews (excerpted just below), make clear.

…anyone who avoids meeting with the enemies in order to counter their dubious claims and stick fingers into their eyes, is a coward.  My stance stems from Allah’s book [the Koran], more than one-third of which deals with the Jews…[I] wrote a dissertation dealing with them [the Jews], all their false claims and their punishment by Allah. I still believe in everything written in that dissertation.

Unfortunately, the orthodox Islamic archetypes of Jew hatred promulgated by Hizbollah and Hamas, are also being disseminated by the most respected, mainstream Islamic institutions. Tantawi’s case illustrates the prevalence and depth of sacralized, “normative” Jew hatred in the contemporary Muslim world which can no longer be ignored.

What prompted Hezbollah’s aggressive actions across Israel’s internationally recognized northern border with Lebanon—sporadic katyusha rocket attacks on Israeli civilian populations since last fall, and then the dramatic kidnapping of Israeli soldiers—precipitating the present conflagration?

Jihad terrorism expert Dr. Walid Phares has suggested three short-term motivations reflecting Hezbollah's own concerns, and those of its patrons, Iran and Syria:  the call for disarming Hezbollah's militias in Lebanon, and distracting attention from the looming Iranian nuclear crisis, as well as the results of the Hariri murder investigation. Phares argues that Hezbollah’s strategic solution was, not surprisingly, open resumption of the jihad  against Israel. Ultimately, however, Hezbollah's chronic, annihilationist jihad against Israel reflects a rigid adherence to both classical jihad theory, and the ugliest elements of Islamic theology regarding Jews.

The distinguished Shi’ite theologian al-Amili (d.1622) wrote the following (p.213) about jihad war in the Jami-i-Abbasi, his seminal Persian manual of Shi’a Law:

“Islamic Holy war [jihad] against followers of other religions, such as Jews, is required unless they convert to Islam or pay the poll tax.”

And the Jews stubborn malevolence—portrayed in the darkest colors by Islam’s sacred texts—is their defining worldly characteristic. Examples of this archetypal Jew hatred from the Koran, and hadith (traditions of the Muslim prophet Muhammad), amplified by the early Muslim biographies of Muhammad, include:

• Koranic verses labeling Jews as malevolent enemies of Islam (5:82); disobedient slayers of their own prophets who suffered justifiable abasement (2:61), including, for some, transformation into apes and swine (5:60);
• the canonical hadith (Sahih Muslim Book 026, Number 5431), and accounts provided by early Muslim biographers of Muhammad (such as Ibn Sa’d, below), that the Jews caused Muhammad’s protracted, excruciating death  from poisoning:

“The Jews discussed about poisons and became united in one poison. She [a Khaybar Jewess, Zaynab Bint al-Harith] poisoned the goat putting more poison in the forelegs.. Allah’s Apostle took the foreleg, a piece of which he put into his mouth…Allah’s Apostle sent for Zaynab [and]…handed her over to [those] who put her to death…Allah’s Apostle lived after this three years, till in consequence of his pain he passed away. During his illness he used to say: I did not cease to find the effect of the poisoned morsel I took at Khaybar…”

Hezbollah’s name, “The Party of Allah”  derives from  Koran 5:56:

“And whoever takes Allah and His messenger and those who believe for a guardian, then surely the party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant.”

In a public statement issued February 15, 1986, Hezbollah conceived of itself as a “nation” linked to Muslims worldwide by “…a strong ideological and political bond, namely Islam.” Expressed in the political language of the Koran, Hezbollah’s ideology encompasses, triumphally (as per the slogan adorning the party emblem, “The Party of Allah is Sure to Triumph”) at least three major objectives:

• transforming Lebanon into an Islamic Shari’a state, in the oppressive mode of Ayatollah Khomeini's Iran
• destroying Israel
• establishing regional, followed by international Islamic hegemony, i.e., bringing the region, then the world under stultifying Shari’a law.

Demonizing Israel and Jews—via motifs in the Koran and hadith—Hezbollah views the jihad against the “Zionist entity” as an annihilationist war intrinsic to broader conflicts: the struggle between the Islamic world and the non-Muslim world, and the historical struggle between Islam and Judaism. The most senior clerical authority for Hezbollah, Husayn Fadlallah has stated,

“We find in the Koran that the Jews are the most aggressive towards the Muslims…because of their aggressive resistance to the unity of the faith.”

Fadlallah repeatedly refers to anti-Jewish archetypes in the Koran and the hadith: the corrupt, treacherous, and aggressive nature of the Jews; their reputation as killers of prophets, who spread corruption on earth; and the notion that the Jews engaged in conspiratorial efforts against the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Fadlallah concludes:

“Either we destroy Israel or Israel destroys us.”

Hezbollah is viscerally opposed to Judaism and the existence of Israel, stressing the eternal conflict between the Jews and Islam. But eradicating Israel represents only an early stage of Hezbollah’s global Islamic ambitions: a jihad against the rest of the non-Muslim world, including the United States.

Democrats like John Kerry have vowed to fight the nomination (of John Bolton). Kerry showed up at the very last minute of today's hearing and it turned into a barbed exchange between the Bush Administration's attempt to engage North Korea in 6 party talks:

John Kerry: This has been going on for five years, Mr. Ambassador.

John Bolton: It's the nature of multilateral negotiations, Senator.

John Kerry: Why not engage in a bilateral one and get the job done? That's what the Clinton Administration did.

John Bolton: And, very poorly since the North Koreans violated the agreed framework almost from the time it was signed.

Ouch!.. It's pretty painful to watch.

And, talk about a flip flop... Isn't John Kerry the presidential candidate who slammed Bush for going it alone?

Israel, Iran and August 22nd

On July 20, Iran said it would reply on August 22 to the Western package of incentives for ending its nuclear program.  For Westerners, the only thing peculiar about this is the length of time Iran is taking to respond, since for us, the date August 22 has no special meaning.

[...]  August 22 corresponds to Rajab 27 on the Muslim calendar, the date this year when the festival of Lailat al Miraj will be celebrated.  The festival commemorates the (alleged) ascension of the Prophet Mohammed into heaven from the al-Aksa mosque in Jerusalem.

Mr. Ahmadinejad is a devotee of the Hojatieh sect of Shia Islam, which believes the return of the 12th Imam (the Mahdi), who disappeared as a child in 941 AD, is imminent, and can be hastened by increasing global chaos.

Mr. Ahmadinejad has called frequently for the destruction of Israel, declaring in an April 14 speech "the Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm." 

Iran has been venomous in their promise of annihilation, more of Ahmaddinerjacket's promises here.

The Iranian Mullahs' Aim

The world is presently at its most wicked. It is beyond human help. It requires only a nudge to implode and prepare for the divine ruler, the Saheb-ul-Zaman (the Mahdi, the Lord of the Age) to come and set it aright. It is the sacred duty and privilege of every Muslim to do all he can to hasten the death of the old world and the birth of the global Islamic Ummah. Thus goes the thinking of Iran’s ruling mullahs and their hand-picked president Mahmood Ahmadinejad.

It seems like the old millennialism thinking, a belief held, in one version or another by several major religions. Indeed it is, with one terribly alarming difference. This time around, a group of believers with tremendous resources is intent upon forcing the issue, making the conditions so dire that the reluctant Saheb-ul-Zaman is left no choice but to appear and assume his universal reign.[...]

Hence, it is shortsighted to dismiss the mullahs as a bunch of lunatics who are out of touch with reality and that they have no intention of doing catastrophic mischief to compel the Mahdi’s coming. Maybe some arming of the Iraqi Shiites, a little support for Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine—but no, no major idiocy. After all, they are rational people and in touch with reality. Any large scale troublemaking spells their doom as well. Thus goes the rationalization—the greatest risky tranquilizer of the mind.

Rationalization, compounded by complacency and denial, can be deadly, particularly when the adversaries have different realities. To the fanatic mullahs ruling Iran Sahaeb-ul-Zaman is an absolute reality and his promised advent is irrevocably ordained. This is their reality and their belief and they have every intention of leading their life according to them.

It is foolish for the non-Muslims to dismiss the mullahs and the Bin Ladens as a bunch of fringe lunatics who are going to go away simply by wishing it. The Islamist reality is that the non-Muslims are the ones who deserve to be done away with; they are the ones who have refused to submit to the summons of Allah for much too long; and, it is time for the faithful to get rid of them. This makes for a lopsided contest. The non-Muslims are passively wishing that the nightmarish surge of Islamism is only a temporary fringe phenomenon doomed to die on its own, while the other side is marshalling its huge destructive power to accomplish its aim by eradicating the non-Muslims.

The cabal of fanatical mullahs ruling Iran has lost its patience, not only with the unbelievers, but also with the Mahdi as well.  They aim to force his arrival. The mullahs believe they have the means to make it impossible for the Mahdi to tarry any longer by causing unprecedented death and destruction—conditions deemed essential for his coming. The world must hit the very bottom, before the Savior of the world comes to the rescue, so they firmly believe.

The question is: What does prudence demand? Clearly wishing the problem to go away is not a very effective solution in the same way that wishing for the Saheb-ul-Zaman to come has not been. Reasoning and negotiating with the mullahs and their ilk hold very little, if any, lasting promise. There are always the easy ways of denial and appeasement. We are very good at both practices. No, the Muslims have been around for ages. They make some troubles from time to time. But they really are not all that bad and dangerous. We’ll get along. If we have too, we’ll even let them live by the Sharia—their stone-age laws— in our midst. We’ll be reasonable and they will come around. We’ll just have to get along. So goes the line.

One problem: The other side doesn’t think this way. The Islamofascists don’t believe in the notion of “Live and let live.” They believe that the earth is Allah’s and it has been sullied by the heathens, the unbelievers and the kafir for far too long. Now that they have the means, they aim to make the world to their design and bring about the final solution—a nasty reminder of not too long ago Nazism.

Is this alarmist, or even hatemongering? You don’t believe Muslims can be that intolerant and hostile toward non-Muslims and that they’ll never go to the extremes? You know Muslims personally in your neighborhood or your work place and they are nice people?

TRUTHTELLER GILLERMAN

Gillerman was highly critical of the current U.N. peacekeeping force, deployed in a buffer Zone between Israel and Lebanon since 1978, saying its facilities had sometimes been used for cover by Hezbollah militants and that it had not done its job.

"It has never been able to prevent any shelling of Israel, any terrorist attack, any kidnappings," he said. "They either didn't see or didn't know or didn't want to see, but they have been hopeless."

Gillerman even mocked the name of the force ? the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon.

We Americans understand what Israel is fighting for. I am preparing for my trip. Leaving for Israel tonight. I have an extraordinary itinerary planned. Will be interviewing top level people in government, military and ground coverage will be war related.  More than that I can not divulge.

Apparently this evil idiotarian plans a march on Washington to stop the war on the jihad;

Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, alongside various anti-war and Muslim groups, announced plans this week for a "National Emergency March on Washington" to stop what he said was U.S. funding of the "Israeli war machine."

Clark claimed that U.S. funding to Israel, which is battling Hizballah terrorists in southern Lebanon, is grounds for impeaching President Bush. "If we'd acted on impeachment before now, Lebanon wouldn't be subjected to this misery," said Clark at the National Press Club Thursday. "If we fail to act now, who is next?" (hat tip daryl)

The National Council of Arab-Americans, Partnership for Civil Justice, Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, and the ANSWER Coalition are partnering to show their dissent of U.S.-Israeli policy in a march planned near the White House on Aug. 12.

Jihad in Seattle

It's open season on the Jews folks. Fasten your seatbelts, its 1938 and we are living in the garden of the Finzi Continis. From the Sunburst blog, read it all;

Seattle – Friday July 28, 2006 - 6:00 pm PST -

A man walked into the Seattle downtown offices of the Jewish Federation, an umbrella organization with Jewish communities here and abroad, and opened fire with a shotgun. The suspect made his way past a secure door, bullet proof window, security camera and was let in by a receptionist. The tally is one dead and five injured, three in critical condition, two in satisfactory condition, all female, all hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center. The suspect is in police custody and has identified himself as a Muslim. Before opening fire he is reported to have said: “I am a Muslim American and I am angry at Israel.” Police suspect there is one other shooter at large. All Jewish synagogues and associations in the area are on alert. Seattle police spokesmen are already saying that this is not a terrorist act, that the gunman is not part of a wider terror threat. Police spokesmen already blaming it on the gunman’s unhappiness with the hostilities in the middle east.

UPDATE: From LGF. All of the shooting victims were women.

One was pregnant.

 

Harborview spokeswoman Pamela Steele said five victims were taken to her facility, all women ranging in age from 20s to 40s. Each suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen, knee, groin or arm. Three were in critical condition and still in the operating room. Two are in satisfactory condition.

One of the women in satisfactory condition is 20 weeks pregnant and was shot in the arm. Doctors believe she will be OK.

Seattle Police Assistant Chief Nick Metz said there were at least 18 people in the offices when the shooting started.

Witnesses say the gunman shot one receptionist, then ordered her to dial 911. He then took the phone from her.

"He told the police that it was a hostage situation and he wanted us to get our weapons out of Israel," said one woman who heard the account from the wounded co-worker.

Yes, this is all about mental illness. This has nothing to do with jihadist hostage-taking and murder.

Hezbollah ordered to shoot south of Haifa
Rocketing into Tel Aviv if terror group perceives it is 'losing battle'

Iran, the main sponsor of Hezbollah, has given the "green light" for the Lebanese terror group to shoot rockets toward the center of Israel, including under certain conditions at Tel Aviv, security officials told the Galil Report.

Until now, Hezbollah has aimed its regular volley of over 90 Katyusha rockets per day at northern Israeli communities, shooting as far south as Haifa, the third largest city here.

On Wednesday Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, looking fatigued, defiantly vowed in a television address his fighters would begin firing rockets deeper into Israel, beyond Haifa.

"I declare that we will enter the 'beyond Haifa' stage," said Nasrallah on Hezbollah's Al-Manar television. "In the new stage, our attacks will not remain limited to Haifa. Irrespective of the reaction of the enemy forces on the rocketing of Haifa, we will move to the stage of beyond Haifa."

Later Wednesday the Iranian Fars news agency in Lebanon quoted Fuad Dirani, a commander in Hezbollah, saying the terror group has set a new target for itself – the city of Netanya, which is about 16 miles north of Tel Aviv, Israel's commercial capital.

Security officials say these threats are not rhetoric. There is information Iran has called for Hezbollah to fire deeper into Israel, but not immediately at Tel Aviv or Netanya. The group is next poised to launch rockets at towns just south of Haifa, such as Atlit and Hadera, and work incrementally toward even more southern Israeli towns.

According to Egyptian security officials, Hezbollah will skip the increments and fire directly at Tel Aviv once it perceives it is losing the conflict with Israel.

Shrinkwrapped has an excellent post up of the varying opinions on the success/failure of the Israeli strategy, most weighing in on the side of failure. I disagree. It would be madness to send in a ground force. The entire area is booby trapped. Mines, tunnels, etc. Hezb'Allah has spent years, years, preparing a booby trap of death --  a veritable obstacle course of  murder. The Israeli approach to this war  must be different than any other war. I believe Wretched eye view is right on the money.

Perry over at shrinkwrapped posits a brilliant idea;

For many years Doctors have used Ultrasound to discern the shape of internal organs (and babies).  The sound waves bounce off of boundaries, between solid and liquid, and between solid or liquid and air.  Computers can build detailed three dimensional maps of the internal terrain form the way in which the sound waves bounce back.  Geologists use similar tools to find oil deposits under ground.  News reports have the Israelis encircling towns which contain Hezbollah and their networks.  By ringing the towns with sensors and setting off a few explosions, I cannot see any reason why the Israelis would not be able to construct a map of the underground tunnels and bunkers that the Hezbollah fighters are using for refuge and storage. 

An underground bunker that needs to be cleaned out by Israeli infantry is a charnal house; an underground bunker that has its entrances dynamited shut is a Hezbollah tomb.

It is quite possible I am wrong and this is completely fanciful but why wouldn't Israel try to win this fight without risking mass casualties.  Their recent call-up of reserves suggests that if this doesn't work, they have a fall back position which includes a massive invasion.  I doubt they would want to let the Syrians and Iranians know what they are planning because the risk of longer range Iranian rockets into Tel Aviv is a real danger.  Am I missing something here?  Is this complete fantasy on my part?

During a briefing yesterday, an Israeli analyst also said it is believed that on June 16, nearly a month before Hezbollah’s cross-border raid on Israel, Iran and Syria signed a mutual defense treaty following a meeting of their defense ministers.

  The agreement, signed between Iran’s defense minister,Mustafa Najjar, and his Syrian counterpart, Hasssan Turkmani, at the time was described as a “military cooperation agreement” by the London based daily Asharq Al-Awsat, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute. [...]

ON JULY 26, 1956, President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, at that time the most vital international waterway in the world. The Middle East, and all of us, still live under the shadow of the fateful events his decision triggered 50 years ago. Even more than the Cold War, the Suez crisis has shaped the world we live in. And at its heart was the biggest American foreign policy blunder since the War of 1812.

The socialist Proudhon said the origin of property was theft. The same could be said of the modern Middle East. By any objective standard, Nasser's seizing of the canal was theft. Until that July, it had been administered by a private company headquartered in Paris and owned by international shareholders. Nasser had even signed an agreement recognizing the Canal Zone's autonomy two years earlier, which allowed Great Britain to pull out the last troops from its bases in Suez.

That withdrawal, of course, freed the Egyptian dictator to do what he pleased. Nasser decided to grab the canal to pay for his ill-conceived dam on the Nile at Aswan. He also reasoned that the resulting international outcry would only build up his reputation in the Arab world, and that the response from a declining British Empire, and the rest of the West, would be all talk and no action--even though Suez was vital to Britain and Europe for their oil from the Persian Gulf.

This was Nasser's one miscalculation--but in the end it proved unimportant. In 1956, memories of Hitler and Mussolini were still fresh. Appeasing demagogic dictators who broke international law had few advocates. Just three years earlier, Iran's Mossadegh had tried to nationalize Iran's oil wells. The British and the CIA had kicked him out of power for his pains.

[...] So, when the British high command informed Eden it would take six weeks to assemble enough ships, planes, and men to take back the canal and topple Nasser, Eden turned to the French for help. They in turn appealed to the Israelis. For some time the Israelis had wanted to wipe out the Palestinian guerrilla bases which had sprung up along their border with Egypt since the 1948 war, camps run by a Palestinian student-turned-Nasser flunky named Yasser Arafat. So Israel's chief of staff, the 41-year-old Moshe Dayan, drew up a plan with the help of a young paratrooper colonel named Ariel Sharon for an incursion into Gaza and Sinai in coordination with an Anglo-French landing at Suez. The Israelis assumed the West would back up bold action against hit-and-run terrorists and those who supported them.

KUWAITI PAPER: NASRALLAH "TO GO TO DAMASCUS TODAY"

The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyassa this morning reports that Hizbullah leader Sheikh Nasrallah is due to travel to Damascus today for a secret meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. (Larijani is also partly in charge of Iran's nuclear program.)

The purpose of the meeting, according to the Kuwaiti paper, is to discuss further tactics to extend their war on Israel, and to continue to supply Iranian arms and ammunition to Hizbullah through Syria.  

Nasrallah, according to the report, will travel in an armored vehicle belonging to Syrian intelligence, dressed with "regular clothes" and without his turban. He will be escorted by a Syrian Lt. General.

According to the paper, the latest speech of Nasrallah delivered on al-Manar TV was also recorded in a Syrian intelligence studio.

You don't often get an opportunity to right a terrible wrong. But the Senate has a chance to do just that when it gives the nomination of John Bolton to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations a second look today. Peter Brookes, NY Post, Full piece here.

The circus begins. John Bolton, makes brilliant opening remarks. In between opening statements ancient hippies and code pink types start screaming "'we are the terrorists," "this is not my country," "no to Bolton!" -- oy, so ridiculous.

Biden trying awfully hard to look presidential, but nothing can take away from the fact that Biden is on the same side as those tired,  silly hippies.

Trying to pigeon hole Bolton into saying that we are one with the EU3

Biden: "do think sticking close to the EU3,  so we are not divided, so we are not the odd man out is the objective?"

Still kissing European ass.

Paraphrasing Bolton,  we are working with the EU3 [obviously], We have been working with our allies to iron out................. you know the drill.

Now Biden is trying to lay blame of Hezb'Allah on Bolton. Sheesh, does he know what a putz he sounds like?

Responding to the question of China, Bolton confirms to Chaffee that yes China and North Korea are selling arms to the Middle east. Most disturbing to Bolton is the sales of ballistic missile technology. I'll say.

All this polite conversation of a "multi-national peacekeeping force" (what fraking peace?)  Bottom line is no one country has volunteered any troops, not one single country.Why? Because they are scared to death. Because they saw what happened to our 241 Marines back in 1982. Because if the Israelis can't cap these jihadis,  who can? What could an international keystone cops force accomplish?

The savages use women, children  to hide behind. The animals shoot from people's homes while the family still lives there, holding them hostage. That should be the "humanitarian crisis" the U.S. Sec'y of State Condi Rice is referring to when she says, Prevent Humanitarian Crisis in Lebanon. Nonsense. And why are the leftists, Islamists, internationalists, dictating the world dialogue? Humanitarian crisis is not the real issue of the day. The real humanitarian crisis is the thousands of indiscriminately fired katuyshas into civilian cities and towns all over Israel.

More on the Jew hating deceitful Kofi has been exposed in today's New York Sun. One of the four killed in the misfiring on the UN position wrote an email to his superior just days before complaining that Hezb'Allah was "all over us." Hezb'Allah is the target, no the UN he wrote;

An apparent discrepancy in the portrayal of events surrounding the deaths of four unarmed U.N. observers in Lebanon threatens to unravel Secretary-General Annan’s initial accusation that Israel “deliberately” targeted the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon.

    A Canadian U.N. observer, one of four killed at a UNIFIL position near the southern Lebanese town of Khiyam on Tuesday, sent an e-mail to his former commander, a Canadian retired majorgeneral, Lewis MacKenzie, in which he wrote that Hezbollah fighters were “all over” the U.N. position, Mr. MacKenzie said. Hezbollah troops, not the United Nations, were Israel’s target, the deceased observer wrote.

    A senior U.N. peacekeeping operation official who briefed the press yesterday, however, said that on the day the deaths occurred, the only “known Hezbollah activity was 5 kilometers away.”The official’s briefing was conditioned on anonymity, but the undersecretary-general for peacekeeping operations, Jane Holl Lute, supplied the Security Council with similar information at an earlier briefing yesterday.     “To our knowledge, unlike the vicinity of some of our other patrol bases, Hezbollah firing was not taking place within the immediate vicinity” of the base that was hit Tuesday.

    Based on reporting by the U.N.’s peacekeeping chief, Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Mr. Annan alleged in Rome Tuesday that the incident was an apparent “deliberate targeting by Israeli Defense Forces of a U.N. Observer post in southern Lebanon.” Although Mr. Annan began to backtrack yesterday, his spokeswoman, Marie Okabe, said he stood by the accusation.

    Mr. MacKenzie, who after retiring from the Canadian military became a politician, had a very different interpretation. “I happen to know” the nowdeceased Canadian U.N. observer, Major Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, Mr. MacKenzie told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in a radio interview yesterday.     “We’ve received e-mails from him a few days ago and he was describing the fact that he was taking fire within, in one case, three meters of his position ‘for tactical necessity — not being targeted,’” Mr. MacKenzie said he wrote.

    In one such e-mail, obtained by The New York Sun, Hess-von Kruedener wrote about heavy IDF artillery and aerial bombardment “within 2 meters of our position.” The Israeli shooting, he added, “has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity.”

Kofi is a liar and a murderer. He killed those "peacekeepers" just as if he pulled the trigger. Kofi must go. He is a danger to the world community and freedom loving people everywherre.

(4) Team Sierra is currently observing both IDF/IAF and Hezbollah military clashes from our vantage point which has a commanding view of the IDF positions on the Golan mountains to our east and the IDF positions along the Blue Line to our south, as well as, most of the Hezbollah static positions in and around our patrol Base. It appears that the lion's share of fighting between the IDF and Hezbollah has taken place in our area. On the night of 16 July, at 2125 hrs, a large firefight broke out between the Hezbollah and the IDF near a village called Majidyye and lasted for one hour and 40 minutes.

(5) Based on the intensity and volatility of this current situation and the unpredictability of both sides (Hezbollah and Israel), and given the operational tempo of the Hezbollah and the IDF, we are not safe to venture out to conduct our normal patrol activities. We have now switched to Observation Post Duties and are observing any and all violations as they occur.

This is all the information of a non-tactical nature that I can provide you. I cannot give you any info on Hezbollah position, proximity or the amount of or types of sorties the IAF is currently flying. Suffice to say that the activity levels and operational tempo of both parties is currently very high and continuous, with short breaks or pauses. Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d'etre.

60 Targets Attacked Today in Lebanon

IDF is also continuing artillery bombardment of rocket launch sites throughout southern Lebanon.  Since Operation Change of Direction began IDF artillery batteries have fired upwards of 45 thousand shells.

IDF will continue to operate decisively to defend the citizens of Israel against the terror threat from Lebanese territory and to bring about conditions leading to the safe return of the two kidnapped soldiers, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

Menawhile in Israel, Day 12 of fighting: Some 1,300 Israelis hurt

Hospitals in north treat 1,293 people injured in rocket attacks since war in north began. Health Ministry launches works to fortify hospitals, ready medical teams for extended military operation

Hospitals in Israel have treated 1,293 people who were injured in rocket attacks since the fighting on the country's northern border began 12 days ago.

Since the beginning of the fighting, the Health Ministry's situation room has been collecting data on the number of injured. The vast majority of casualties were treated for shock, while 19 people are still hospitalized across the country in serious condition. Another 37 people sustained moderate wounds and 325 were lightly injured. The number of people who suffered from shock stands at 875.

Health Minister Yacov Ben Yizri briefed the government ministers Sunday on the health establishment's preparations in light of the security situation.

In the framework of the preparations, medical teams from the heart of Israel are standing by to assist the northern hospitals and six hospitals in the north - Ziv in Safed, Rambam in Haifa, Poriya in Tiberias, the Nahariya hospital and Bnei Zion in Haifa - have already fortified the oxygen tanks on their grounds in order to avoid grave damages in the event of a rocket attack.

The hospital in Safed had already sustained damages in a previous Katyusha strike. During the weekend construction teams have started fortifying windows in the northern hospitals, while efforts to reinforce the Barzilai Hospital building in Ashkelon were also launched, for fear of imminent Qassam attacks. hat tip Naomi

In recent days I wrote both here and here on how the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFL was complicit in aiding and abetting Hezb'Allah in Southern Lebanon.
So if Hizb'Allah was using the UNIFL as a shield is it any surprise that "peacekeepers" got killed? I mean, get serious. Kofi accusing Israel of deliberate murder shows what a Jew hater he really is. Not that that's a surprise.

[...] Hizb'Allah has been known to base itself right next to UNIFL forces in the hopes that Israel would inadvertantly hit UNIFL in response. This is understandable from Hizb'Allah's cynical [Cynical?  savage is more like it - Atlas] perspective, but harder to fathom in relation to UNIFL's mandate to restore peace and security.

It is often noted that UNIFL failed in its mission, but even that is too kind, to the extent that implies that its presence is benign. In reality, UNIFL has provided more security to Hizb'Allah than it has to Israel increasing the likelihood of conflict and helping to make the current confilct inevitable. Has the world the forgotten that there have been UN peace keepers on the border in Southern Lebanon, and they used to fly the Hezbollah flag on the UN flagpole? The UN also routinely permitted Hezbollah from firing short range rockets into northern Galilee.

UPDATE: UN Repairing Roads for Hezb'Allah

This might be the jawdropper of the day, as today’s report from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon shows that the United Nations is busily repairing damaged roads in Hizballah-controlled areas—roads the IAF bombed specifically to impede Hizballah movement—right in the middle of the war. (Hat tip: mich-again.)

UNIFIL is still facing serious restrictions in its freedom of movement due to the ongoing hostilities and the extensive destruction of roads and bridges throughout the area of operation. Yesterday, a UNIFIL engineering contingent from China managed to do some repairs on a key road artery between Tyre and Naqoura, and the road is now usable for traffic. However, more road destruction was reported in various areas in the south.

On a single podium at the Iranian president's Center for Strategic Studies sat representatives of Hezbollah, Hamas, Syria, and Iran, the foursome that the United States and Israel portray as the culprits behind rising Islamist militancy.

Did you write him/her? Not that it would matter. These elites "know better" than the "little people." France is their preferred system of government.

As the Senate prepares to consider anew the nomination of John Bolton as United Nations ambassador, Senators Schumer and Clinton are facing increasing pressure from pro-Israel groups to renounce another Democratic filibuster in light of the escalating war in the Middle East.

    The Foreign Relations Committee is set to hold a hearing on the nomination tomorrow, and several Democrats on the panel have voiced their unswerving opposition to Mr. Bolton’s nomination.    From New York’s senators, however, there has been nothing but silence. Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton voted to block Mr. Bolton’s confirmation a year ago, but they have not declared their positions this time around.

Aides to both senators did not respond to repeated inquiries about the Bolton nomination over the last three days.

One Jewish leader may have an idea why. The president of the Zionist Organization of America, Morton Klein, said yesterday that “important friends” of Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton have confided to him that the senators are “seriously reconsidering” their position on Mr. Bolton. Mr. Klein, in a telephone interview,would not disclose the names of the friends, saying they had not given him permission to do so.

“If they came out against him, I would be somewhat surprised,” Mr. Klein said of the New York senators. “I think there’s a reasonable chance they might support him this time around.”     He added, however, that “with politics, you never know.”

Mr. Schumer and Mrs. Clinton have both made strong statements in support of Israel following attacks by Hezbollah and the ensuing war with Lebanon. NY  SUN

If Schumer or Clinton come out against Bolton, it's political suicide. Even sHillary knows better. Chuckie Schmucker or Schemer?  What will my favorite NY demagogue do? Those purse strings have infected every critical policy position of the Democratic party and has  reduced this country to a one party government no matter how desperately we prop them up and attempt to take their arguments seriously. Crazy little find in Ireland.

Irish archaeologists Tuesday heralded the discovery of an ancient book of psalms by a construction worker who spotted something while driving the shovel of his backhoe into a bog.

The approximately 20-page book has been dated to the years 800-1000. Trinity College manuscripts expert Bernard Meehan said it was the first discovery of an Irish early medieval document in two centuries.

"This is really a miracle find," said Pat Wallace, director of the National Museum of Ireland, which has the book stored in refrigeration and facing years of painstaking analysis  before being put on public display.

The book was found open to a page describing, in Latin script, Psalm 83, in which God hears complaints of other nations' attempts to wipe out the name of Israel. 
"There's two sets of odds that make this discovery really way out. First of all, it's unlikely that something this fragile could survive buried in a bog at all, and then for it to be unearthed and spotted before it was destroyed is incalculably more amazing." More at Breitbart

Here's the text of Psalm 83:

"O God, do not stand idly by, mute and inactive, O God! For thy enemies are ranting, and they who hate Thee carry their heads high. They shrewdly forge a plot against Thy people; they consult together against Thy precious ones.

They say, "Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, so that the name of Israel may no longer be remembered."

For they have conspired against a united heart; against Thee they make an alliance - the tents of Edom, the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, Gegal, Ammon, and Amelek, Philistia jointly with those who live in Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them; they have meant a strong support for the children of Lot.  Selah."

The rest of the psalm is a prayer that God will humiliate and destroy them, ending with an acknowledgement that God is "the Most High over all the earth."

Recently we had some decent things to say about the blog of Anderson Cooper 360. But then they slipped back to their liberal ideology and prescribe the “softer” side of terrorists.

Katrina was a gift from the heavens for French commentators, delighted to rub America’s nose in the muck of its “inappropriate” reaction to a common ordinary hurricane.  Today, the same mentality is castigating Israel for its “disproportionate” reaction to the kidnapping of two common ordinary soldiers.  How would the French government react to a major storm system?  Simple!  They’d pull the plug on storm warnings and whistle “all clear.” 

When a jihad faction makes war on Israel, the only decent thing to do, according to this logic, is impose a cease fire.  That is the role of the international community, informed by international opinion, led by the most natural of all leaders, la France bien entendu.  This latest wave of peacemongering  so perverse, so depraved, so pernicious that the very heavens are exasperated.  Israel is brazenly attacked, bravely fights back, and these guys are calling for a cease fire!  Six years after their jihad-intifada offensive, they throw this at us, the old media tricks, the devious political ploys…we won’t let them get away with it.  No.  We are going to track them with laser sharp insights and zap their ceasefire to ashes.

Cease fire?  How dare they even pronounce the word?  It’s like walking into an operating room in the middle of a life-saving operation and ordering all personnel to leave the premises.  What?  The patient will bleed to death!  Yes but this is a humanitarian cease fire, so it is by definition the noble way to go.  Let’s zoom right in on the details behind the French call for an immediate cease fire.  When did it start, what is it based on, how is it talked up, who’s line does it follow, what are its aims and purposes?

Ambassador Bolton led Security Council efforts to draw down the peacekeeping operation in Burundi after a successful transition (ONUB is scheduled to close at the end of 2006).

Congo

Ambassador Bolton and the Security Council provided the peacekeeping mission in the Congo, MONUC, with resources and temporary police and troop increases to support Congo's first democratic elections in 40 years.

Ethiopia/Eritrea

Ambassador Bolton and the Security Council condemned restrictions placed on the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) by the Government of Eritrea as well as the Ethiopian refusal to demarcate the border. 

Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in an authorization to downsize the UNMEE peacekeeping force from approximately 3,300 troops to 2,300 troops in response to the situation on the ground in Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Iran

Ambassador Bolton worked with colleagues to negotiate a formal Security Council statement calling on Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment activities and to request follow up reports from the IAEA on Iranian compliance.

Liberia

Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in the adoption of resolutions to establish a mandate to arrest Charles Taylor should he return to Liberia, to facilitate his transfer to the Special Court for Sierra Leone for prosecution, and to ensure peaceful presidential elections in Liberia.

North Korea

Ambassador Bolton, in partnership with the Japanese, led Security Council efforts to take a firm and clear stand against North Korean missile launches with the adoption of resolution 1695. This resolution is the strongest statement of condemnation the Security Council has made against North Korea in over 10 years and received unanimous support, even from China and Russia.

Sudan

Ambassador Bolton led the Security Council in authorizing the Secretary General to begin contingency planning for the transition of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) to a UN operation. 

Ambassador Bolton negotiated with Security Council members to permit the entry of a joint African Union-UN assessment team to Darfur through a Chapter VII Security Council resolution.

Syria and Lebanon

Ambassador Bolton worked to adopt Chapter VII measures such as travel restrictions and the freezing of assets that would sanction individuals designated by the UN International Independent Commission (UNIIIC) as suspected of involvement in the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Subsequently, the Security Council established a tribunal of an international character to try those involved in the terrorist bombing.

The End of Democracy?

Truthteller Fjordman writes an extraordinary piece in Brussels Journal. America this is our wake up call;

At the end of the Cold War, Francis Fukuyama pronounced that we had arrived at “The End of History”, and that capitalism and liberal democracy would now be the only global system left. But when I look at Europe today, I see democracies under threat because of an elaborate Eurabian bureaucracy and Islamic fanaticism. I see countries unwilling or unable to defend themselves against massive immigration/colonization.

Has democracy become too soft to function? Have we arrived at “the End of Democracy” rather than “the End of History?” What are the strengths and weaknesses of democracy? Are there other challenges to it in

the 21st century than there were in the 20th century, and if so, what are they? immigration/colonization.

What are the necessary conditions for a democratic society to work? These are massive questions. I cannot do more than scratch the surface of them here, but I’d still like to make an attempt.

In the UK, before Labour came to power, the number of people leaving Britain roughly balanced the number arriving. Then Tony Blair’s government “embarked on immigration/colonization.

Even in the USA, the most astonishing aspect of the immigration debate is that the élites “think they can override the clear and huge resistance of the American people.” As columnist Tony Blankley wrote, the Senate was prepared to “legislate into the teeth of the will of the American public.” Eight out of ten Americans wanted the borders closed to millions of illegal immigrants, yet immigration/colonization.

In the Nordic countries – Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark – [and also in Belgium] foreign citizens, though not illegals, are allowed to vote in local elections. As Roger Scruton points out, Western civilization depends on an idea of citizenship that is not global at all, but rooted in territorial jurisdiction and national loyalty. A nation that refuses to differentiate between citizens and non-citizens cannot survive.

It is more than a little ironic that people calling for restrictions of immigration are denounced as “anti-democratic forces” when it is the other way around. The most fundamental democratic right of all must be to decide who should be allowed to move into your home. Freedom of speech and immigration control should not be outsourced to faceless bureaucrats in Brussels or the UN. The people should decide who should be allowed to settle in their country.

UN bureaucrats from Islamic countries are influencing how we should manage our immigration policies, even our freedom of speech. This comes on top of the maze of non-governmental organizations and self-appointed human rights groups at home and abroad, always interfering in anything we do to maintain our own borders. Put together, this means that Westerners are no longer allowed to decide who should settle in their countries.

Muslim immigrants want to first infiltrate established political parties, to ensure VIP treatment of Muslims and to keep the floodgates open to new Muslims arriving, and later to establish parties of their own. So far, this strategy has shown some success. They have also been rather successful at spreading terror in the West and instilling “fear into the hearts of the enemies of Allah,” just as the Koran commands. As Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina and other former Muslims have warned against, there is more evidence of an Islamization of democracy in the West than of any spread of democracy in the Islamic world.

I have warned against the development of a pragmatic alliance between Western Leftists and Muslims. Third World immigrants in general, and Muslims in particular, vote overwhelmingly for Leftist parties. This means that by simply opening the gates for massive immigration, Socialists can be certain of a net gain in future elections. This is a critical flaw in our societies, one that could destroy the entire democratic system unless fixed.

How could a few, selected people decide in back rooms to launch a huge project of the transformation of an entire continent, without being stopped or even have this Project acknowledged in public? Is democracy just a sham, an act where the general public is allowed to make minor decisions while powerful people move behind the scenes to make the most important decisions? Or is it the very set-up of such massive, transnational organizations such as the EU that moves power away from the people and into back rooms and the corridors of power? Is the creation of Eurabia an indication of democracy’s flaws, or an argument in favor of revitalizing it?

What happened to the ideal of investigative journalism, being of the side of the people and exposing abuse of power? There are people in the media who are criticizing the EU. Ironically, many of them are Socialists who think there is “too much capitalism” in the inner market. Leftists will, however, never criticize the worst aspects of it, the promotion of Multiculturalism, Muslim immigration and demonization of Israel and the United States, since these things fit their own, ideological agenda. European media are brimming with anti-Israeli and anti-American articles, yet hardly any of the mainstream journalists are writing about Eurabia or even mentioning the term. What happened to the free press? Was it merely an illusion, or did it get lost somewhere?

Schmucker or Schemer? Poor Chuckie

Can you spell political suicide? The American people adore Bolton. They know righteous when they see it.

What will my favorite NY demagogue do? Tool of the far left -- what will poor Chuckie do? Members of the suicidal left have already promised a "bruising fight" over the upcoming Bolton nomination (!) - incredible right? Could anything be more clear? Read this NY Sun editorial;

SCHUMER'S MOMENT

The Senate this week holds a hearing on whether to confirm Ambassador Bolton to his post as America's permanent representative at the United Nations. Mr. Bolton has been at the post for nearly a year, and the man we have our eye on is Senator Schumer.This time around the senators have the advantage of seeing Mr. Bolton's record. Those who oppose him now have the burden of explaining exactly what in that record they find so objectionable. Is it the Security Council resolution he engineered to impose targeted sanctions on North Korea? The resolution is widely viewed as a blueprint for upcoming action on Iran both in its substance and in the fact that Mr. Bolton was willing and able to compromise away some provisions to win Chinese and Russian support.

Is it his limited success in implementing management reforms such as a new whistleblower protection program? Is it his unwillingness to sign off on creation of a farcical Human Rights Council that at birth was already more discredited than its predecessor, the Commission on Human Rights? Or that during his month-long stint as president of the Security Council he enforced work ethics like making everyone show up on time for meetings? Or maybe it's his unwavering support for Israel, especially during the current crisis?

Mr. Schumer's opposition to Mr. Bolton the first time around puzzled us.

This should be interesting. I'm sure Schumer will be taking his cue from the left wing wallet. Those purse strings have infected every critical policy position of the Democratic party and has  reduced this country to a one party government no matter how desperately we prop them up and attempt to take their arguments seriously. More's the pity.
