Mama, Why have you forsaken me?
What Is This Picture?
Obviously, it's a picture in a cemetery. What cemetery and whose grave?
Sadly, it's the grave of Casey Sheehan. After two years, and a DoD payment of $250,000 to the "Peace Mom", Cindy Sheehan has not had the time or bothered to have a headstone placed on this young hero's grave. And, she doesn't even have to pay for one, the DoD will provide one:
"The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a government headstone or marker for the grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world. For all deaths occurring before September 11, 2001, the VA may provide a headstone or marker only for graves that are not marked with a private headstone.
Flat markers in granite, marble, and bronze and upright headstones in granite and marble are available. The style chosen must be consistent with existing monuments at the place of burial. Niche markers are also available to mark columbaria used for internment of cremated remains."
Apparently she can find time to protest on at least 3 continents, get arrested various times, go on vacation in Hawaii, have photo ops with the Marxists in Venezuela, but can't seem to find the time to properly mark her son's grave.
Yup, snopes says it true.
Apparently, she has been shamed into doing something.
On 25 May 2006, a headstone was finally placed at Casey's grave Hat tip Erika and Henry, my favorite power couple

I don't know much about Cindy Sheehan, but from the little I do know I never got the impression she was an especially reliable or sincere ally among antiwar critics. Also, the enthusiasm with which she was embraced by my cohort at times seemed variously desperate, calculating, cynical, and naive. She was effective in a way for providing someone for some of us to rally around, and I do confess some satisfaction in the way she discomfited a president who deserved a little discomfort. But she was also effective at giving war supporters ammunition...and someone to rally against.
I wonder what she says is the reason she delayed so long in getting a grave marker.
Regards,
Dave

I saw Cindy Sheehan speak at one of the so-called peace groups pro Saddam/pro terrorist rally (this is the rally wear I wore my Ann Coulter t shirt with very effective results). She sounded like a very stupid woman. Since Michelle Malkin was the one who brought up the issue of Cindy Sheehan not providing a headstone for her son personally to Cindy Sheehan, I suspect we have Michelle Malkin to thank for Cindy Sheehan finally providing a headstone for her heroic son, Casey.

Like Cindy Sheehan, there are some people who it just doesn't pay to be friends with.
I heard a report on FOX News this evening that pretty much stated that anyone who has been publically backed in an election by Hugo Chavez have suffered humiliating defeats.
The new President of Peru owes his win to Chavez's endorcement of his rival.

From the same article:
"On 25 May 2006, a headstone was finally placed at Casey's grave, one described thusly by the Vacaville Reporter:
The elegant marble slab is thick and emblazoned with a cross and delicate thickets of trees on both sides.
"Our Casey," reads an inscription on the front. "Ever faithful, kind, and gentle, good son, beloved brother, brave soldier, dear friend, you loved your family and lived your life serving others to the end." Six icons grace the other side, representing a military insignia, the theater, Eagle Scouts, Van Halen, the World Wrestling Federation and Superman.
That same publication also contacted Cindy Sheehan via e-mail for her comments on the placement of the headstone:
Sheehan said she had paid for the tombstone herself and was part of a family effort to put it up, even though its installation saddened her.
"It is important for the rest of Casey's family to have one," she wrote. "I guess the pain of seeing it etched in marble that he is dead is another pain I will have to deal with."
The headstone was very expensive, Sheehan wrote. She said that the government should have paid for it because of its responsibility for his death.

It still changes nothing.

The rest of Casey's family...the ones not consumed with BDS.

That is so sad. Cindy Sheehan is a silly woman. She got swept up in that leftist 'useful idiot' plot, which she vigorously participated, and just forgot about her son. Really sad. Now they probably don't have much use for her. I am glad she at least did get what sounds like a very nice piece of granite. I do find the lying disturbing and foolish. Didn't she think anyone would verify with others her statements when she implicates them?

On the eve of the anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Europe, where thousands of soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice, it galls me to read the Sheehan statement stating the government (and reading between the lines, GBW) is responsible for the death of Casey Sheehan. I hope Cindy Sheehan finds peace someday - and I hope it happens as quickly as her fame has flamed out.

Never in my life have I seen a more self-consumed mother! It always comes back to me, me, me! What a selfish bitch!

Susan: Good points. The media has 'gasmed its pants because of Cindy Sheehan.... very little has been said about the FATHER of Casey Sheehan. I wonder what kind of man HE was like.
Maybe Casey saw what his mother was like and decided to do good with his life and not be selfish like his mother.

NEWS FLASH!
Cindy Sheehan buys 10-foot Granite Monument to mark Zarqawi's grave.
"He was such a good man" she said.

I read elsewhere about a month or two ago her ex-husband got fed up and said he was going to put up a headstone. I'm guessing that's what happened (whatever she says).
