The Eeeeeeevil Google Does
Google has become an arm of the enemy, officially . We (the blogs) have been reporting on their complicity with terror groups for some time now. I have posted on it here and here and more on Google here. Filou of Views on World Affairs writes here;
I opened my Google News, the source of a main article regarding the Middle East was Hezbollah’s Al Manar (see picture right). Since when the news agency of a major terrorist organization is considered a mainstream news source? When will Google start acting in a responsible fashion and stand by its “No Evil” principle?
For those not familiar with Al-Manar, here are is a snapshot:
- It’s owned and managed by Iran-funded Hezbollah
- Its programs are dedicated to the promotion of Hezbollah’s views’ and the hatred of America and Israel
- One of the recent drama series it aired, called The Diaspora, was, according to the BBC, based on “the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a notorious 19th Century publication used by the Nazis among others to fuel race hatred."
- The EU, and more recently the US, have forbidden broadcasting the network.
- Until 9/11, its parent organization, Hezbollah was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist organizations
US Designates Al-Manar as a Terror Entity. This is the same Al-Manar that the US Treasury Department Dealt a Major Blow Against -- Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV and Its Iranian Sponsors
Coalition Against Terrorist Media Achieves Number One US Priority
The Coalition Against Terrorist Media (CATM) today praised the U.S. Treasury Department for naming Hezbollah’s al-Manar Television, as well as al-Nour Radio and the Lebanese Media Group, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity. Al-Manar runs programming designed to recruit terrorists and incite violent attacks. Much of its funding is provided by Iran. Here
This is a news outfit? Google sees fit to qualify MURDER INC as a news source? Who died and gave these evil clowns such dangerous power? Google refuses to give news agency status to Little Green Footballs. and Michelle Malkin, (check out this 2005 post.) Frankly they are both one of too few news organizations providing real news. TRUTHTELLERS, a rarity that should be exalted.
And back in August 2005, Google gave news agency
status to the International
Solidarity Movement (ISM), according to an anonymous source at
Google.
The irony in all this the Google's slogan "do no evil." DO NO EVIL. These malevolent pigs do great harm. Terrible harm is done in spreading the propaganda of barbarians while shutting out the truthtellers.
Google had been running advertisements for the
recruitment web site of the terrorist group Hamas, that show up when the word
“Hamas” is
entered in Arabic: Google advertises Hamas. Terror organization uses search engine to promote website of its military wing Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
"Terror organizations are advancing their recruitment and public relations methods:
Internet surfers who enter the word “Hamas” in Arabic in the Google
search engine, will view, in addition to the search results, an AdWord
message that links directly to the website of the organization’s
military faction Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades." This indicates that a Hamas source has paid Google, the most popular search engine on the web, for the advertisement.
Oh and BTW, that Israeli flag (above right) is what you'll get when you Google "Israeli flag". Sorry fellas, you can't keep telling me these are "accidents" then spit in my face and tell me it's raining. It has since been corrected here but Google ran that Abu Ghraib Israeli flag for an awfully long time and it took a Herculean bloggers' effort to get it removed.
Each despicable action of Google speaks volumes to their motivation. Their complicity to aid and abet the Chicoms in silencing and censuring the net in China here while refusing to work with the US government on fighting terrorism, crime and porn here is a clear indication of their sympathies.
Think about it. By their acts ye shall know them. And so we know them.
UPDATE: More on Al-Mana from the Wall Street Journal;
Terror TV - Editorial
On any given night of the week, between 10 and 15 million Arabic speakers in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East tune into Al-Manar (the Beacon), the television channel produced by the terrorist group Hizballah. The station's purpose, an Al-Manar official told researcher Avi Jorisch of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, is to "help people on the way to committing what you call in the West a suicide mission."
In its heyday, Al-Manar was transmitted via French Telecom's Globecast satellite, and for a while could be seen in the U.S. thanks to Barbados-based Intelsat and Brazil's Hispamar. But a concerted lobbying effort by the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies succeeded in persuading most of the carriers to drop Al-Manar. Today, only Saudi Arabia's Arabsat and Egypt's Nilesat carry the station. The Bush administration might consider barring Arabsat and Nilesat executives from entering the U.S. until Al-Manar is taken off the air. (Wall Street 4Apr06)
UPDATE April 5: Gates of Vienna has a slightly different but most excellent, "An Ignorant Slogan: "don't Be Evil
UPDATE: Google Alert, more from Al Manar

The station's purpose, an Al-Manar official told researcher Avi Jorisch of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, is to "help people on the way to committing what you call in the West a suicide mission."
Watch some of its programming (revealing clips can be seen at www.stopterroristmedia.org), and you'll understand how well-suited the medium is to the message.
That's why it's good news that last month the Treasury Department named Al-Manar as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity. The designation prohibits financial transactions with Al-Manar and its parent company,
the Lebanese Media Group, and enables the government to level penalties against U.S. financial institutions (or foreign institutions that transact business in the U.S.) doing business with them. This is no trivial blow: Hezbollah has used Al-Manar for fund-raising by televising bank account numbers to which viewers can wire contributions for jihad. Al-Manar has also sold several million dollars worth of advertising to Western companies. This, too, is now at an end.
The terrorist designation should also help put pressure on Al-Manar's last remaining satellite carriers.
The terrorist designation should also help put pressure on Al-Manar's last remaining satellite carriers.
Everyone except "Don't be Evil" Google, you can't make this stuff up.
Today, only Saudi Arabia's Arabsat and Egypt's Nilesat carry the station, and both governments have rebuffed U.S. entreaties to take it off the air. That may change if either company turns out to be liable to designated-terror penalties. The Bush Administration might also consider a wider range of sanctions, such as barring Arabsat and Nilesat executives from entering the U.S. until Al-Manar is taken off the air.
Al-Manar is hardly the only Arab channel that routinely broadcasts murderously anti-Semitic or anti-American shows. Nor is it likely that simply putting Al-Manar out of business will end terrorist media: The Iranian chapter of Hezbollah has announced its intention to set up a new channel, Khaiber TV. But by taking action against Al-Manar, the Bush Administration has set the right precedent against the worst offender. Let's hope it can enforce it.
APril 12: C'mon guys, everyone must write Google today. They are outta control. Michelle Malkin recommends
a polite but firm e-mail to source-suggestions-at-google.com encouraging them to remove al-Manar as a news source.
Counter terror blog has more.

Thanks for bringing this to the fore. You don't miss anything, do you?

i just sent this to someone quoted in an LGF post via facebook.com:
Hey Joshua -
Yea, you don't know me from a hole in the wall. But, I wanted to ask you something. I have been reading a lot about the admission of Sayeed Rahmatullah Hashemi to your school. As a young Jew, I am obviously disturbed by the admission of a former Taliban member to an American university - especially Yale. More disturbing was the quote of yours I read in insidehighered.com:
"“Most attacks on Mr. Hashemi from outside of Yale are political in nature,” agrees Joshua Krug, a student leader with Yale’s Hillel group.
“Conservatives want the country to believe that ultra-liberals control American universities.”
Now, I'm not disturbed by this quote of yours because I am a republican - but more so because I am Jewish. It is Jews like you who undermine the safety of Israel and American-Israeli solidarity by sympathizing with and supporting this man, not to mention attending school with a him - a former Taliban member and terrorism-supporter. I never would have looked you up if you were not quoted as a representative of Hillel, but your association to this man as a Jew inspiried me to. Well, that's my bit. Sorry if you feel targeted or anything, but I'm just looking to make you think - as a peer and Jew.

Al-Manar is no longer available in the U.S. via the satellite carrier GlobeCast. On December 17, 2004, Secretary of State Powell concluded that Al Manar is a "terrorist organization" within the meaning of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, placing the channel on the Terrorist Exclusion List. Aliens providing support to or associated with Terrorist Exclusion List designated organizations may be found “inadmissable” to the U.S., i.e., such aliens may be prevented from entering the U.S. or, if already in U.S. territory, may in certain circumstances be deported.

Yahoo's search engine is almost as good as Google's. Maybe they're evil too, but until I find evidence they are, I use them over Google everyday.

I've had a poll running for a few weeks to suggest a new slogan for Google. So far:
35% - Don't be evil everywhere, all at once. Pace yourself.
29% - It's ok to be a little evil, sometimes.
18% - New & Improved! 20% more evil, free!
18% - Evil is inversely proportional to profit.
I favor the 4th place entry myself.
