On Clitorectomy-Dr. Muhammad Wahdan:"Reality is a mistake, we must rectify it"
Clitorectomy: euphemism female circumcision:
In Egypt we have four and a half million spinsters. The definition of a spinster is a woman who has reached 30, without ever receiving a marriage proposal. We have a spinster problem in the Arab world, and the last thing we want is for them to be sexually aroused. Circumcision of the girls who need it makes them chaste, dignified, and pure.
From MEMRI TV via LGF, a mind-altering show from Kuwait’s Al-Rai TV, featuring an Egyptian Islamic expert discussing the finer points of female genital mutilation.
Every left wing feminist should hang her head in deep, deep shame. The left has aided and abetted the most barbaric misogynists of the 20th and 21st centuries. What in Gd's name are they doing? They love ideas, hate people. Love dogma, hate thinking.
Why aren't they galvanized to fight Islamic gender Apartheid?
Chesler said "Because feminist academics and journalists are now so heavily influenced by left ways of thinking, many now believe that speaking out against head scarves, face veils, the chador, arranged marriages, polygamy, forced pregnancies, or female genital mutilation is either "imperialist" or "crusade-ist." Postmodernist ways of thinking have also led feminists to believe that confronting narratives on the academic page is as important and world-shattering as confronting jihadists in the flesh and rescuing living beings from captivity."
I salute Chesler for attempting to frame the 'feminist argument' in intellectual terms. Poppycock! I give it no such credence. These feminists are as guilty as those that pull the trigger (or the wield the scalpel, or knot the hang man's noose.)

These must be the moderates I keep hearing about.

Which is worse? Being guilty of deluding others? Or falling under the spell of one's own delusions? While, fortunately, the Left is not quite as able to pull off the former, not until its last breath will it ever give up the latter - its delusions about itself. This is what makes it such an echo chamber of platitudes and screeds. And among those delusions, I have to agree, is that "feminism" can deliver for women - that it can deliver while it still remains under the heel of bankrupt ideologies.
Case in point: Egyptian feminist writer and activist Nawal el Saadawi (www.nawalsaadawi.net). She apparently has an activist resume a mile long. But one of her stated allegiances, for example, is to the Arab Women's Solidarity Association. AWSA was staunchly anti-U.S. and pro protecting Saddam in power. I know, because I heard Sadaawi speak at an AWSA-related event in Stinky French Crisco (i.e., San Francisco) about 5 years ago. (Before Intifada II, maybe before 9/11.)
Her talk offered: Postcolonial, relativist digs at her audience ("Why do you call where I'm from the "Middle East"? Shouldn't I then call California the "Middle West"?). Generic statements about her life and efforts in Egypt (which almost none of the audience had any knowledge or connection to). When she was done, the emcee led a round of chants calling for an end to "genocidal" sanctions against Saddam's government.
This last point is the crux: feminists like Sadaawi seem to cling to everything, every "-ism" or "cause" whose failure is an obstacle to real change. Their only choice, if they want to be in the game, is to play catch-up with reality or to not play at all.
btw, Pamela, luv your fresh, happy take on the Motoons. What do you want to call it, "The Face of Happiness"?

A clitorectomy is pure mutilation. It is a barbaric, idiotic, and crude procedure that is imposed by stupid men who live outside of any civilized mindset in history.
The fact that most feminists won't stand against the forced clitorectomies imposed upon Muslim girls shows the unbridled hypocrisy of the Left.

Elvis (above) "These must be the moderates I keep hearing about."
How true. The Egyptian "doctor" in this video wears a suit and tie. I'd bet that he's one of the Egyptian "state approved" members of the Muslim Brotherhood. He is billed as a “lecturer” at Al-Azhar University in Cairo (with http://www.alazhar.org/). (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=8614&only ).
He's the kind of “moderate” with whom Undersecretary of State Karen Hughes strives to get a meeting and then chalks it up as a great victory (http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/008285.php) for trans-civilizational understanding.
