Wafa Sultan: Applause good, Money Better

Concerned with Wafa Sultan's safety,  I spoke to Wafa Sultan's outspokenness in an oppressed Islamic totalitarian --in other words, dangerous--society;

If there is a Wafa Fatwa, I would happily start a fund to furnish this much needed voice of clarity and reason with protection.

Well Neocon has taken up the mantle. Neocon walks the walk and talks the talk;

The Neocon Express is in contact with a number of private security firms in a campaign to generate donations of security equipment and services to protect  Dr. Wafa Sultan from crazed Islamo-Fascists who have put a FATWA on her head. The response has been positive. We urge others to use whatever private contacts they may have to do the same, so that we can insure Ms. Wafa’s safety and continued work in the promotion of sanity in the Muslim world. Ms. Wafa's interview on Al Jazeera has been described by a number of extremist clerics as "more damaging than the Danish Cartoons."  Salmon Rushdie move over.

The best way to reach Ms. Sultan currently is through the editor of www.annaqed.com, a web-site for discussions and promotion of moderation in the Muslim world. The Neocon is troubled by the fact that in yesterday’s article, the New York Times published general information about Ms. Wafa’s location, her husbands name and business, basic information that was not necessary to publish in an otherwise great article. Ms. Sultan has received multiple threats on her answering machine.

The New York Times is as bad  if not worse than Al Jazeera (if not worse as they carry the specter of the West and "media elitism").

UPDATE March 13: Wafa Sultan in hiding here;

Dr. Wafa Sultan is in hiding, fearful for her life and the safety of her family, after she lambasted the roots of radical Islam during a debate televised on Al-Jazeera last month. 

Dr. Sultan is leading a struggle to create a new reality in the Islamic world, which she believes should be led by none other than the women it has oppressed for so long. Born in Syria and now a Los Angeles-based psychiatrist, Dr. Sultan has taken upon herself the mission of trying to change the way the Islamic world operates.
