The Sudan Freedom Walk Campaign was initiated by Simon Deng, a Sudanese man captured into slavery as a child in Sudan. He later escaped bondage and now resides in New York City, but travels often to spread awareness about modern slavery and the atrocities facing the people of Sudan. The goal of Freedom Walk is to free the 40 million people in Sudan from the treacherous policies perpetrated by the Government of Kartoum. This Government has been party to human trafficking, torture, ethnic cleansing, genocide, international terrorism, as well as numerous other human rights violations and injustices.
UPDATE: Sudan closes offices of rights group Reuters
EL-GENEINA, Sudan (Reuters) - The Sudanese human rights organization SUDO said on Wednesday the West Darfur authorities had closed down three of its offices because it did not like its work overcoming divisions in the troubled region.

An anti-war group that belongs to the umbrella organization United for Peace and Justice (UPJ) has announced that it intends to topple the Bush administration during a March 15 Washington, D.C. protest.

The message goes on to explain:
"We will not allow the Slave Holders that Still Prevail in this Country to Rule us any longer . . . The Administration is Criminal and if they will not step down, we must storm in, show them how many of us do not accept a criminal government."The Political Cooperative goes so far as to announce its plans to install an interim government after the Bush administration is toppled:
