February 26, A day that will Live in Infamy

It is barely noted in the media, but war was declared on this country on this veryWtc_1992_2 day.

Today in history - Feb. 26
Sunday, Feb. 26, the 57th day of 2006. On Feb. 26, 1993, a bomb built by Islamic extremists exploded in the parking garage of New York's World Trade Center, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000 others.

Thank you President Clinton. Thank you for responding so forthrightly and preparing this country and our military for the war of the worlds.

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice stated, “For 60 years my country has pursued stability at the expense of democracy in this [Middle East] region...by trying to purchase stability at the price of liberty, we achieved neither and we saw the result of that on a fine September morning.”

Great posting, Pam!

A quick check of the Sunday edition of the Philadelphia Inquirer yielded no mention of this anniversary. What a surpise...

Feb. 26, 1993. I'd push the date back to 1979 when the nation of Iran was hijacked by Islamofascists.

Thank You, President Carter.

Sadly, we did not consider fighting back until Sept. 12, 2001.

I can not forget that date as I was there. I blundered into history on that date looking for Broadway Tickets. Thank you Pam I thought everyone forgot.

Lets hope we don't have too many more of these types of anniversaries. The only good part about this is the fact that we can see how America dealt with a tragedy and picked itself back up and carried on. I appreicate the hard working efforts of those who have carried on.

Skye is spot on: GREAT posting, Pam! Skye, you are also right on that Rotten Peanut President. America's enemies never had a finer useful fool in the White House. Never, and prayerfully, never again.

RE: 1979.There was another story in 1978 besides the start of the Tehran Hostage drama that Americans largely are not aware of and should be. Much more than the American Hostage crisis, the seizure of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and thousands of hostages by Ikthwan salafist fanatics at the opening of the pilgrimage season, and Jimmy's spineless reaction, helped create the jihadist monster that is engulfing and recreating the Moslem world into its own image.

Did you know that the Saudi Royal family, with their rule being directly challenged, and seeing how hapless Jimmy Carter was, sought help from FRANCE? French Foreign Legionnaires were brought in to retake the Mosque, temporarily "converted" to Islam so they could enter the 'Holy' City, and proceded to direct a six week war against thousands of jihadists bunkered down amidst tens of thousands of helpless hostages. How many were killed remains a Saudi state secret.

The Saudi Kingdom cut a deal with the Wahhabi devils in the aftermath, to undercut the even more radical Ikthwan. In exchange for Wahhabi support for the Royal family and for its continued rule, the radicals were given supervision of Saudi education, given control of the 'religious' police with expanded powers, and the Kingdom agreed to finance and to help export jihadi missionaries to the rest of the world.

This is the inception and source of much of radicalism embroiling Islam today. Most of the remainder is also due to Jimmy Carter. It was he who persuaded the Iranian military to allow the Ayatollah Khomeini to return from exile without shooting him on the airport tarmac.

Thank you so much, Jimmy Carter. Your mother was so right. She should remained a virgin.

Funny how the Liberals never seem to remember that the Hostage Crisis ended with the election of Ronald Reagan. The mad mullahs admit they were scared of what Ronnie would do to them after he took the oath of office. Too bad that they doesn't share the same feelings about George W. Bush. I sure wish that he would show them that they have made a BIG mistake.

Ayn Rand at 100: "Yours is the Glory"

  • Aynrandstamp_1

  • Speaking to the unnamed, unchampioned, beating heart of her new land, Ayn was to say: 'Yours is the glory.'"
A man whose ability and independence leads others to reject him, but who perseveres nevertheless to achieve his values. Man as an individual, as a creator. What's the most depraved type of human being? Not a sadist or a murderer or a sex maniac or a dictator; "The man without a purpose." Yet most people seem to go through their lives without a clearly defined purpose.

  • Life has Loveliness to sell,
    All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fires that sways and swing,
    And children's faces looking up,
    Holding wonder like a cup

    Life has Loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of Gold,
Scent of pinetrees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy stars that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
    Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of Peace
Count many a year of strife well lost
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
