Bush:
"You Bet We'll Defend Israel" - Glenn Kessler
In an interview with
Reuters Wednesday, President Bush said he is concerned about Iranian President
Ahmadinejad's "menacing talk" about Israel. "Israel is a solid ally of the
United States. We will rise to Israel's defense, if need be. So this kind of
menacing talk is disturbing. It's not only disturbing to the United States, it's
disturbing for other countries in the world, as well." Asked whether he meant
the U.S. would rise to Israel's defense militarily, Bush said: "You bet, we'll
defend Israel." (Washington Post)
Gd bless you President Bush. You are indeed a righteous man. No vacillating, no flip flopping. Two countries that share the same values.....life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Iran said to have bomb instructions
A document obtained by Iran on the nuclear black market
serves no other purpose than to make an atomic bomb, the International Atomic
Energy Agency said Tuesday.

They said they got the instructions as a throw in when they bought some other black market items. What black market garage sale where they shopping at?

Since Gulf War I, the US has castrated Israel's sovereignty and right to defend itself.
I can't see why you're excited about being promised fish (maybe it'll show up on time, maybe it won't) when we have the capacity to fish for ourselves... if only US diplomats would get out of the way.
Pam, you seem to have no grasp of the principle of this matter.
There are times I think that the US really doesn't want the IDF involved because of the embarrassment factor and the possibility of demoralization from being shown up. I love our soldiers but there's a different edge when you're fighting for your lives.
Until US policy is to allow Israel to do what the Sudetenland got to do to Germans after WWII and to compel the reciprocal population transfer of 600,000 Arabs from Israel, Judea and Samaria into Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon -- with the same open enthusiastic acceptance that we supported the Hindu and Muslim transfers in the partition of Greater India into India and the two Pakistans -- we simply aren't thinking clearly and it doesn't help anyone to be a cheerleader in the meantime.
I'll be posting on my seeing and meeting Victor Davis Hanson here in Los Angeles last night... soon.
Bush is OK, but until he treats the State Department as being more dangerous to American interests than Ted Kennedy, Cindy Sheehan, the NY Times and tenured humanities professors combined, he's still far from completely comprehending the current situation.

At least Bush has responded to the question of whether we will support Israel with an enthusiastic "you bet." I think the Bush strategy has been to try to bring the rest of the world along as it relates to Israel by calling the Palestinians' bluff -- i.e., showing everyone that the destruction of Israel is their only real goal and the rest is just chatter.
The Palestinians are going into their fourth generation of people born and raised in self-imposed "refugee" camps. It's hard to see how anything short of a real war, which the Palestinians would lose, badly, will ever disabuse them of the idea.
